2015 NBA Thread: I felt a great disturbance in the trolls, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. (3 Viewers)

and here we go... http://hollywoodlife.com/2016/06/22/lebron-james-la-lakers-kids-brentwood-school-leaving-cleveland/

Just heard this mentioned on local radio and on Around the Horn.  I call BS.

If I was a school administrator, I would absolutely claim that LBJ's kids were enrolling in my school. Then I would promptly raise tuition at the school another $25k and promote another school enrollment push. It would be sad when they learned that I might have no idea who Lebron was or that I had him confused with another parent named "James Bronle" or "Bronjames Le" but whatever.

While the school news might make it seem that going to the Lakers or Clippers is a done deal, if LeBron lives on ramen noodles and Taco Bell, and is able to keep his Kia running a while longer, he might be able to afford maintaining residences in Ohio and California.

I like this...pack up the fam and ship them to the beautiful weather and distractions of SoCal while he stays home unattended to, stabbing every piece of gutter trash he can get his #### on in the Flats.  Out of sight out of mind.  Bump him above Magic on my top 10 list.

blame the Germans

well... the Poles and Italians too
What are the chances?  You travel all the way from the old country and find a city that loves sausage just as much as you do.

ETA:  that comes off worse than when I thought of it :bag:

Oladipo is a good get for OKC.  HUGE upgrade over their SGs from last year.  I also think Sabonis can be a player.  I have no idea what happened to Ibaka the last year or two.  Went from a menacing rim-protecting, dunking freak to a dude who floats around the perimeter on offense and is just OK on defense.

I'm not proficient in NBA salary cap math at all, so for you salarycapguystm: Oladipo probably means the Thunder won't be matching the inevitably ridiculous offers for Waiters this summer. They won't be paying Ibaka next summer. In a best-case scenario where both KD and Westbrook stay on max deals, how much free space does that leave - enough to maybe get a decent defensive big (Noah)?

Noah is awful.

I love the trade for okc.  Victor is a better defender on the wing than anyone they have. Ibaka was regressing

Good move for OKC. This means more KD at the 4.

PG Westbrook

SG Oladipo

SF Roberson

PF Durant

C Adams

That's gonna cause trouble for a lot of teams. It probably won't be their starting line-up, but it'll be their best.

Looks like a fantastic deal for OKC to me and they can let Dion walk. What are the Magic trying to accomplish? I get they've wanted to move Oladipo, but seems like they got pretty much a washed up body.

Well OKC either has to extend him this fall or he becomes a RFA.  He's one of those guys where someone will pay, but without knowing what Westbrook and Durant are doing, it's sort of a crapshoot.

I also seriously don't get the sudden Oladipo love. Very weird.
If Ibaka isn't washed up I don't think it's a terrible deal. In theory he's a great fit next to Vucecic. I don't know where Gordon plays and Payton isn't very good, but those were problems that existed independent of Oladipo being around. (GOB, please don't kick me out of the thread)

Fournier, Oladipo, and Hezonja were a log jam at SG.

I am not crying over losing VO. But it seems like a steep price for a guy with a bevy of questions surrounding him.

If we are to believe the rumors, they are going to go hard after Horford in FA. But that would send Aaron Gordon to the bench. And I am not ok with that.

Vucevic to the bench, too, right?  Am I missing something?

I don't loooove the trade but calling a 26 year old former all defensive team player "washed up" is good shtick.
Poor term, but I haven't been impressed with him lately when I've watched OKC.  Maybe he'll thrive in Orlando.

is Ilyasova getting waived?  i feel like people don't respect his game enough. can shoot, rebound, rugged and not afraid to mix it up. not a starter but as a 2nd unit guy you could do a lot worse.

feels like people don't know who he is and think he's a throw-in bag of donuts

I've heard both sides of it.

I cannot imagine giving him $8.5 million is a terrible idea. My only knock when I saw him was he relied too much on drawing a charge instead of playing tough D.

No loss losing him though. Aaron Gordon should be getting 49 minutes a night.

I assume if they had to play a game today:

Vucevic

Ibaka

Mario

Fournier

Elf

Lol, kill me.
Not great, Bob

I imagine Gordon is starting at the 3. Mario, Elf and Evan will share the 1-2.

I thought all year that Nic was gone this summer, but if they trade him now it makes the Ibaka move REALLY baffling. So I don't know.

no doubt he had to move on from Orlando. i think he can help OKC, though.

So we still can't shoot?

And instead of getting an offensive board beast we traded for a floater??

I hope they sign a starter at SF in July.

But stealing minutes from Gordon is not the way to win me over.

Somebody thriving in Orlando.
Oh,  :lmao:

If the Magic let him go back to what he's shown to be good at, maybe he will.  For 2 years, under 2 different coaches, he's basically quadrupled his 3 point attempts, and it's not like he became a sharpshooter.

Yea I think Gordon has to be the centerpiece of the show. If not, then they really don't know wtf is going on.

So free agency predictions?

Durant

Horford

Conley

DeRozen

Dwight

Whiteside

Batum

Barnes

Biyombo

Parsons

Beal

I am absolutely no cap expert, but if I look at this link, I don't really think they have much money at all, even letting Waiters go: http://www.spotrac.com/nba/oklahoma-city-thunder/cap/

If they have $21 mill in available cap and still have to sign Durant for $26, I don't know how they can do much else in FA.  That Kanter contract is really not helping.

Or can they waive Ilyasova and Morrow and free up $12 mill?

Hey I heard the Raptors were trying to trade for Ibaka yesterday as well.

So thanks for that.
Drove the price up to keep the Magic down :hifive:

Guessing Toronto was offering #9 and Ross. Not as good as VO and cap relief.

I don't think the deal was bad at all for Orlando. It's one if the rare ones that should be good for both teams.

As a Dubs fan, I am mainly concerned with OKC... since ORL was a lock to be in the East finals for the next 5 years before this trade.

If I were Orlando, I'd rather overpay a stretch 4 than a SG who can't shoot.

Larry got it right above. They are pretty much capped out this offseason if they keep Ilyasova. So, they'll have the midlevel exception to chase somebody, maybe a wing who can defend a bit and shoot (Courtney Lee?), but pretty much what you see is what you get in 2016-2017. The following offseason, assuming they manage to keep Durant and Westbrook, they'll have maybe 15 million of space, but that'll probably be eaten up by Oladipo. Basically, best case they are capped out and have their team for the next 3-4 years, worst case, they have moderate cap space this offseason and tons next offseason if Durant and Westbrook leave.

Right?  Everyone but Kings fans, you guys know nothing of dysfunction and hopelessness.

That said, I'm not sure I buy this account. The guy also said this:

They waited too long to get Bradley Beal at a reasonable price, so now they’ll have to overpay to retain their top free agent
At no point was Beal available on the cheap. And if they'd signed him in the last year they would have hamstrung their free agency pursuits because his full salary would have counted against the cap instead of his cap hold number (it's the same maneuver the Spurs did with Kawhi).
