Lions take Arie Kouandjio, G Alabama

To be blunt, I don't know enough about him to give a prospect report but he fits a need and seems like a good run blocking G.

We don't get College Football in Denmark so my knowledge of the particular players is more or less non-existent. No one can argue with DL though and we need some WR too. Sanu will never be more than a serviceable WR3

 
With pick #56, the Steelers select Ronald Darby, CB, Florida State

I think he's going to be better than his FSU counterpart, PJ Williams. The Steelers desperately need a playmaker in the defensive backfield and not another JAG. At this point in the draft, you don't often find guys with the physical tools to be a shutdown corner, but Darby has them. He's young, raw, and needs coaching, but he'll get that in the NFL. He has three years' starting experience in a major conference at his young age (he JUST turned 21) and has played in a number of big games. He's turning from a sprinter who plays football into a football player before our eyes. What you cannot teach is 4.30 speed and great short-area quicks. He can turn and run with receivers deep and has supersonic closing speed. I believe he has the ability to be Ike Taylor with much better hands and could be a 5-10 year starter if his head is on straight. I know his name came up in the whole Jameis investigation and since I'm not there to vet his personality/contrition/explanation, I can't mark him down for character when he was never charged with anything.

I believe most pundits have him as a day 3 pick right now, but wait until he runs a 4.29 at his Pro Day and see what happens. Steelers started the movement to inject greasy-fast speed into their defense last year and it continues this year.

1.22 - Alvin "Bud" Dupree, OLB/DE, Kentucky

2.56 - Ronald Darby, CB, Florida St.

actually, they could use a slot WR with hands. Not sure who's available though.

Alright, I checked and checked and didn't see him, soooo....

Pick 57, Carolina Panthers select Alex Carter, CB, Stanford.

The Panther front seven is obviously as capable as anyone in the league, and they alone, even with a makeshift secondary, can make most offenses day very difficult. But you don't want to just get by. While (again, mostly due to the front seven) Carolina gave up the 6th fewest pass yards, it gave up the 3rd worst completion percentage. While the Richard Shermans of the world don't come around every year, at 6' 200 lbs, Carter provides the thicker frame needed to compete with the receivers of the NFC South. Mike Evans, Jackson, ASJ, Jimmy Graham, what's left of Marques Coston, Julio Jones. He'll be able to compete and knock them a little at the line. And with a mid-4 40 (prior to combine) he's got a decent set of wheels.

Thanks for making this pick for me AD, I think the Cardinals need OL help and I think Matias is a relative bargain down here. In the list I sent to AD my next choice on the list was Ronald Darby to replace Antonio Cromartie who went one pick later. Is this carrying on into a third round?

2.55 Josue Matias, G, Fla St

Seems like a pretty good haul through 2 rounds!

 
2.56 sammie coates wr auburn

T smith is a free agent and s smith is pretty old and coates is a good option for the ravens here. They lack passing game playmakers with elite abilities maybe coates can give that.

 
2.60 Dallas Cowboys Select - DT Michael Bennett Ohio St.

May not be an every down player, but fits our scheme to a tee.

I see Dallas getting Dez done, bringing back our LB's McClain, Carter, Durant and I see us going after Cromartie at CB. Maiking our needs DE/DT/RB/Safety/CB. Still plenty of quality RB's to grab in the 3rd.

I prefer Walford in round 2, than taking William in round 1. He is more the type of TE that Green Bay needs ala a Finley type.

I did not mind round 1 pick but I kind of liked how they used Matthews and brought in Barrington beside him. Thought the D really improved. Is Barrington still the other ILB if they draft another one and Hawk would be gone.

 
The Bucs did not take an offensive lineman at all from 2010-2013, and they have not taken an offensive lineman in the 3rd round or sooner since Jeremy Zuttah in 2008. The last linemen they took earlier than the 3rd round were Davin Joseph and Jeremy Trueblood back to back in 2006. There really is no mystery why this offense has been atrocious year in and year out. With that said

Tampa Bay finally stops ignoring the position at the top of round 3 and selects:

D.J. Humphries*, OT, Florida

Size and health concerns could make him slide, but he is extremely quick and athletic and could potentially end up being a first round pick climber with good test numbers.

Tyler Sambrailo was also a consideration, but Tampa's second round selection, Nate Orchard, dominated him at the Senior Bowl.

 
Andy, thanks for making my PM'd picks for Indy & Seattle last night.

Adding Carl Davis at NT, the Colts have now given their defensive line a bright future with their first 2 picks. No more 200 yard 4 td games from random 4th string RBs.

With Carolina stealing the next big CB to join the legion of boom in Alex Carter, Seattle pursues the last of the really highly rated RBs in Duke Johnson. Duke took over as the all time leader rusher at the U. Considering their RB history, that is saying something. Marshawn Lynch may not be back and a RB by committee could be in Seattle's future with Johnson, Michael, & Turbin.

Build the trenches, hope to help Mett develop by giving him time. Should be an upgrade from Oher and pairs with Lewan to give the Titans two potentially really good Tackles.

This pick assumes Roos does not return. If he does, they'd look for a pass rusher or take Hundley.

I thought Clay did well inside too, I really like the idea of having another good LB so they can play him at both positions.

Thought hard about taking Tevin Coleman for the Jaguars.

Would anyone be too upset if we set a time limit of 1 hour between picks?

The 3rd round is usually where these fizzle out and I'd like to keep it going for those that are still engaged and yet finish it up sooner rather than later.

 
I'll be in a meeting from 12:30-2:00 EST so if the Jets pick comes up then feel free to pick. If Washington picks before then I should be ok.
