McGrady is a 7 time all-NBA player and had some truly ridiculous years from 2000-2005 (finishing top 10 in scoring for 6 straight years). Being one of the only 10 or so successful high school to the pros helps his case too, IMO. Definitely a HOF player to me
I think he is a borderline HoF'er, but this isn't right. There are around 40 guys that got drafted right out of high school and about 20 of them had decent careers. My question is do they count your college career for your HoF credentials? If so why is Weber not in?

Fat Lever?

I remember him from Strat-o-Matic Basketball as a really solid player but never realized he was that good
For sure.  I absolutely remember him as a triple-double machine.  He was sort of a weird player, but Doug Moe is gonna get you yours.
Fat Lever leading the team in rebounds at 6-3, Bill Hanzlik playing center at 6-7, 185, Michael Adams jacking up threes like it's 2017, T.R. Dunn as the "designated defender".. Those Denver teams were unorthodox to say the least.

I'm happy McGee is in the league.

"I'm glad Brandon fouled me," he said. "I was going to air ball that 3. Shout out to Brandon Jennings."

I should have said excellent careers, as opposed to successful

Yes. It is the basketball HOF, not the NBA HOF. Bill Walton is in mainly because of his college career.

He's  a fun guy for sure. Still should've just taken the shot-clock violation.

Meh. I wouldn't say its necessarily uncommon for somebody to take a shot in that situation. If the shot clock was off, that's a ####ty thing to do, but with a difference of three seconds or whatever, I don't see the big deal. I think leaving Curry and Green in up 20 and having Green gunning for a triple double was the bigger issue, and that is probably what lead to the frustration of Jennings in the last seconds.

While we're on Weber, what's the consensus of his analysis in games?  I find his enthusiasm to be refreshing and I enjoy when he calls games.  The only time I find him annoying is when he gets a particular topic in his head and beats it to death without the PBP guy getting him somewhere else.

Eh. There was time left on the clock, no reason to take a turnover. I don't think it's a big deal, but Kerr made a point after the game that he thought taking a 3 was disrespectful, but would have had no problems if it was a 2.

Either way...looks good to see the Dubs peaking at the right time. I think it's easy to see despite how great Durant is the Dubs are at their best when Curry is in MVP form. It would be nice to see them close out the season undefeated (only 1 road game @ PHO)  with a 17 game win streak and then go 4-4-4-4.

I would love it if he replaced Mark Jackson or SHAQ on their respective shows. Webber is really good.

 I though he deserved it. He was arguably the best player in the NBA for a year or two in the early 00s. I am a bit surprised how quickly he made it though.
Obviously everyone has their own set of standards to say somebody is HoF worthy.

For anyone that saw him, would agree he was one of the best players when he played. His #s in that shortened window were truly HoF worthy.

But, he didn't win in the playoffs and his back really let him down later in his career.

I'm glad he made it because I thought he was one of the best players in the league during his career. But his career resume lacks a ton of accomplishments.

Signed,

Guy who still owns a pair of TMac shoes

holy crapola they can have teletovic that guy stinks on ice if they would take his contract and give us even like a semi decent hot dog guy i would be down with that the best thing teletubby does right now is help the other team get back in it take that to the bank bromigos

I think this is pretty much a non-story, other than the fact that it shows how dumb the Magic FO and that agent are for letting this picture even exist. The only thing I really got from the list is that they are clearly looking for forwards that can play the perimeter, which can be said for all other 29 teams as well.

I mostly agree, because it's not that hard to imagine who most teams would be considering, especially when you have a list that big.

The Saric (for AG?) note is kind of interesting, though.

i'd guess all the NBA teams have similar lists just maybe not in the background of photos that go public

it's just a "funny" pic is all

The Saric thing was interesting and the board combined with their terrible moves last offseason make me thing that they aren't as high on Gordon as I think they should be.

Hopefully all wiped out in about 10 days
My favorite part about the white board is:

Dario Saric (for AG?)

You know the guy the Magic drafted and traded + a 1st for Elfrid ####### Payton.

If that isn't shtick, I really need to reevaluate my choice of team.

Lol at least elfrid has been pretty good these past few weeks

Listened to Izzy and Spain talk show on the way home tonight. They claimed that many 'experts' have recently proclaimed Westbrook's current season to be the best statistical season of all time, or among the very few. They delved into what statistics are implied, since apparently that viewpoint ignores his lousy FG percentage and his turnovers per game. Then they started to rattle off great statistical seasons from the past, like Oscar's triple double season, which was the same year that Wilt averaged 50/27, yet Russell was MVP with 19/24... like Jordan 1987-88, and others.

So came in here to get the FFA's take on where Westbrook's season stacks up (so far). IMO it is a significant exaggeration to say it is on a shortlist of best seasons of all time.

Didn't they basically get nothing in return for Tobias Harris as well? Now they want him back?

I was hoping some of the basketball savants in here could offer some opinions on how it compares to other great seasons. For example, here is a list of other great seasons:

  • Wilt 61-62
  • Oscar 61-62
  • Baylor 61-62
  • Oscar 63-64
  • Wilt 66-67
  • Kareem 71-72
  • Kareem 75-76
  • Erving 75-76 (ABA)
  • Bird 84-85
  • Bird 85-86
  • Magic 86-87
  • Jordan 87-88
  • Jordan 88-89
  • Jordan 90-91
  • Jordan 95-96
  • Olajuwon 92-93
  • Olajuwon 93-94
  • Robinson 93-94
  • Shaq 99-00
  • Duncan 02-03
  • Garnett 03-04
  • Kobe 05-06
  • Lebron 08-09
  • Lebron 12-13
  • Curry 15-16
  • Harden 16-17
I'm sure this list is incomplete, just a list I discovered with some quick Googling. I mean, there is no mention of Russell here. And I suspect I could have listed other seasons for Wilt, Kareem, Jordan, and maybe others.

Part of the discussion I heard pointed out that Westbrook is 1st in FGAs and 1st in FG misses, shooting just .425. And 2nd in the league in turnovers. They also claimed he is an indifferent defender at least at times. Many of the seasons above resulted in strong ppg/rpg/apg numbers, though perhaps not as impressive as Westbrook's... but with better shooting, better turnover numbers, and better defense. But also in different eras.

Hence my post.

My buddy is clearly an ###-hole (and always has been one) but you run a franchise horribly for 20 years and you can't take someone saying to you to sell the team.  What does the guy expect.  It is not like my fried cursed at him or said anything truly offensive.  His reaction of screaming at a season ticket holder on the street doesn't seem like someone who has much control over themselves.

ETA - It is also pretty funny.
