Olynyk is a dirty player. Not sure why that's funny.
He very well may be. However, if you have watched him at all, he at times can barely walk in a straight line without fumbling all over himself. To think that he is athletic enough to do what Tobias insinuated, is doubtful

I find it implausible that all these incidents with him are just klutzy accidents. The video in question sure looks like he gave it a little extra effort to go Wall's direction. The immediate whiney face I didn't do anything wrong reaction is another indicator, and it's been a key component in his repertoire pretty much every time he "accidentally" almost hurts/does hurt someone. If he's really that inept that he just can't help himself when it comes to endangering his opponents (how come it's never his own teammates suffering from his uncontrollable feats of gawkiness I wonder?) maybe he shouldn't be in the league.

All these incidents are what, 5 plays over his career? And maybe he gave extra effort on the Wall play, who knows. He also coould have just, you know, been trying to get a foul call.

The Love play was dirty. The Wall play was questionable at best. The screen on Oubre was a hard screen that was barely a foul.

Dude threw a forearm/elbow to finish it off. Clear foul, just a question of degree.

You throw a forearm/elbow on a screen it's a foul (particularly when you connect with it), regardless of how tall the guy you set a screen on was.
Agreed. But what made it look worse than the 100's of other times we see a similar screen in every other game was the proximity to Oubre's face

Please. He's in the NBA. He may not be athletic enough to defend LeBron James but I'm fairly certain he's capable of continuing to fall in a straight line. And falling hard to your right to make contact with someone instead of continuing with your momentum isn't exactly a sublime feat of athleticism either.  My four year old can do it when she's playing on the bed near me and wants to deliver a knee to my nuts.

The video wasn't from a Wiz fan or writer, by the way.  It was a Cavs blogger, retweeted by a national CBS NBA writer.

Kelly Olynyk is in the NBA because he is 7 feet tall, has decent basketball IQ, and can hit threes. Besides shooting open threes, everything the guy does is awkward. Setting screens - awkward. Posting up - awkward. Falling to the ground - awkward. Complaining to refs - awkward. Wearing a headband - awkward.

He is hard to watch. Takes someone who actually follows basketball to notice the things that he does that help a team - like arm barring other players and enticing 2nd year players into suspensions :)

Why are you defending this guy? As of right now he is the dirtiest player in the nba. Not even a close second to him.

I could maybe buy that the undercut of Wall wasn't intentional and he was seeking out contact if he didn't have a history. But at best it's still pretty reckless to do that with someone who's in the air.  And that's just a different kind of dirty.

Anyway, thank God for this series.  Been a boring playoffs so far. Jazz-Clips was decent but the injuries and late starts sucked.  Houston-SA should be good but so far has felt like kind of a dud.  Other than that, nothing.

I was cruising around basketball reference and it shows Vince Carter with a 94.5% chance of making the HOF.  Maybe I just don't remember when he was a great player.  Can any of you guys tell me when he was great?  It was too long ago for me.

We are making Vince great again.

hmm, he is not that high on WS/48, for whatever it's worth.  He is 168.

Kevin Martin is 166.  see, I told you guys!  /Abe

He was an all-star from years 2-10.  Not very good in all-nba or MVP.  But he is able to play at 100 years old, so that's something.

Yeah the winshares were pretty low imo for a guy that is a near lock for HOF.  Do you think he should make it in?

Thinking about his Olympic gold medal, his excellent college career and total value over the course of his nba career, he probably should, since the basketball hall of fame is inclusive of all types of basketball and also thinking about it in that context and where he is in career scoring, I do believe the high probability makes sense.  But could you tell the story of basketball without Vince carter?  Probably, so as an actual player, I wouldn't be personally outraged by him not making it.

Good post, if it was just NBA career I would say no, but add in the gold medals and college and I think he should be in.

Vince is a lock in a unique way. Part NBA longevity, part stat compiling, part college/Olympics, part highlight reel dunks and Vinsanity. He is worthy in a way like almost no one else.

Extraordinarily boring playoffs. The east finals are going to be a sweep or a 5-gamer. Maybe the west can give us something good. Doubt it though.

Who was the better player in their prime? Carter or Bosh?
Tough call. Neither good enough to be the man on a contender. Bosh probably a all around better player but Carter highs were much higher. Carter's lackadaisical attitude knocks him down a few pegs. To win a single game, I take Carter.
