Sad day for SA.  Glad I got to watch Duncan for his whole 19 year career.

What's crazy is that there are grown adults in SA that have no clue what it feels like to be a fan of a losing NBA franchise.

I'm not going to subject the fine readers of this thread to any more Sixers/Kings chat, but I'll make a note to revisit these posts in a few months.
Give us Sixers fans a break, this is the only time of  the year we get to talk in this thread.

The Kings biggest problem, of course, is they've been so dysfunctional.  Talent-wise, they aren't that much different than last year.   Who knows if Joerger will be able to make a difference.  But I'll pick the Kings over the Sixers regardless.

I know the ironic Draymond nut shot jokes are all over Twitter but it really would be amazing if he actually did get arrested for hitting someone in the junk.

How many Warriors rotation players need to be jailed before they aren't prohibitive favorites to win the title? I say 1.5 at least.
With as shallow as they are in the front court, if that one rotation player is Green, I don't think they would be title favorites. Nobody else on that team can do what he does, he's not the best player on the team, but he is probably the most important.

He's the key for their unconventional style, for sure. But Curry/Thompson/Durant/Iggy/Zaza is still at least arguably an overall talent upgrade versus last year and probably the best lineup in the league.

FWIW, Basketball Reference has him playing center for 70% of his career. I would consider him more of a career center than I would PF, even though most of his very best years were spent more at PF.
He was a PF in his prime.  Playing Center allowed him to hide (poor word for it) down low more as he aged.

Portland is going to have about $48m per year for the next four years tied up on Evan Turner, Crabbe, and Meyers Leonard. I think they may be the leader in the clubhouse for worst offseason.
What do you want Portland to do exactly?  Everybody in the world thought this was a 27 win team last year (Vegas O/U on season wins).  They were better than that.  Everybody thought they'd get bounced in round 1 of the playoffs (Vegas had them +300 to beat LAC).  They advanced.  Everybody thought Golden State would sweep the Blazers.  It was a hard fought series.

Portland cannot attract marquee free agents.  It is REALLY hard to convince established NBA talent to come here.  It's remote, it's very white and the weather bothers a lot of people.  So when a former #2 overall pick's agent phones up the Portland GM and says his client wants to come to Portland, it was really a seismic event, even if you want to pooh-pooh the deal.  And here, he'll play the 3 which will move Aminu to his more natural 4 and guess what?  Turner plays a little defense and can create his own shot.  That's what this team needed more than anything.  Defense and a 3rd option to score.  I know he's been viewed as a disappointment, I've owned him in fantasy since his rookie year.  But he's not awful and again, defense is what this team sorely needed.

As far as keeping their own free agents, so what?  They matched Crabbe to a gaudy contract.  He's a key part of that second unit and in Portland, a huge fan favorite.  This little town is happy to have a homegrown talent stay in house.  Especially given the heartbreaking offseason last year that saw the team lose 4 of its 5 starters.  It sucks watching all your stars leave because they don't want to stay here.  So today, this place is a little happier.

He definitely played more time at PF when Robinson was around, but I think that was because they were the two best players and Robinson couldn't slide down to PF. The year after Robinson retired he started playing a lot more center. I agree that it became a necessity as he got older, but he was always a better fit at center.

I view him as more of a PF than C. If it is appropriate to view him as a PF, IMO he is the best PF of all time. But if he should be viewed as a C, he certainly is not the best of all time.

I don't think the Crabbe and Leonard signings were nearly as bad as the Turner signing, even though I don't necessarily agree with them. Turner is not really the player you are making him out to be. He's not much of a scorer, and certainly not an efficient one, and he needs to ball in his hands to not be a total liability offensively, which will take the ball away from the Blazer's two best players. And while he might be an adequate defender, I wouldn't say he is anything more than average on that side of the ball. If the Blazers are going to use him 25 mpg off the bench, he'll be a helpful piece, if a bit overpaid. If they plan on starting him, it was a horrible signing.

If he's your 4th big, sure. He's their starting 4 as of right now :X
He might not be though. Carroll can move up to the 4 and Patterson is still there, isn't he? Plus the drafted Poeltl, likely with the idea to at least try him a bit at PF. I can't imagine Sullinger playing more than 25 mpg, even if he does start.

But Casey.

If they wanted an undersized 4, they would have kept Johnson. Carroll at the 4 doesn't make much sense over the course of the regular season; the odd game/playoffs sure, but no need for the wear and tear on him for 82 games. Patterson, for some odd reason, is terrible as a starter in Toronto and prefers coming off the bench. The starting job was given to him last summer but he was so terrible during pre-season that Scola took it from him. Yes, Luis Scola.

PF: Sully / Patterson

C: JV / Poeltl / Bebe

Etan Thomas tells a story about Tim Duncan

Here is my Tim Duncan story

So we're playing the Spurs and I get the ball on the post. I inside pivot and sweep to the middle for my jump hook and he blocks it. So as we are running down the court he says to me "that was a good move but you have to get more into my body so you can either draw the foul or I can't block it". So I didn't know if he was talking noise or what so just kind of looked at him confused and said ok. Then, a few plays later I did it again got more into his body and he couldn't block it. I missed the shot and he looked at me and said much better and kept playing lol. I remember calling my boy Zee Chilton and telling him this story lol Tim Duncan is honestly one of the nicest guys in the NBA and the best power forward ever in NBA history. Respect
