they have a made a big deal that he has seemed to turn a corner on the Sixers. I haven't followed him for that long, and he certainly loves to shoot, but i am sure he has value for a boost off the bench (unless he is cold which is about 50% of the time, then expect the Hawks to hopefuly not keep him out there long).
for the Sixers not really any value coming back, but I like it as a plus based off subtraction. Hopefully this also means Simmons will play this year so they wanted to open up more room on the floor too. Looking forward to Dario getting some starts and seeing how the team does. I think this is also a move by Colangelo to create some love with the "Process" fan-base

makes sense i think. I don't think the Sixers had intention of re-signing Ilyasova this off-season, so they basically traded away another 2 months of Ilyasova for a 2nd round pick or something close to that (apparently the 2nd round pick is all kinds of confusing according to Derek Bodner).
Adding it up, the guys at libertyballers summed it up nice. Need to give Colangelo some kudos: "This is a savvy move from Colangelo, as he’s now transitively flipped Jerami Grant into a 2020 first rounder from Oklahoma City and two second-round picks now from this deal"

yeah i was just reading the same thing. no problem trading ilyasova, just thought we'd get more for him for some reason. i guess that didn't make a lot of sense.
libertyballers also indicates that splitter's contract is covered by insurance, so throw a couple more million on the pile for Josh.

yeah would have hoped for a protected 1st for swapping picks somewhere, but it seems that either Colangelo is feeling less patient and wanted to make a move, or realized there wasn't much out there. Considering what Sweet Lout went for i am not sure how much more he could have got

that okc 1st-rounder is top-20 protected for 2020-2022 and then becomes 2 second-rounders, so it's not all that exciting, honestly, but i guess it's not bad.

yeah it sounds sexier then it is. When Hinkie was around you could see them as assets and simply pieces to a puzzle in another trade. Hopefuly Colangelo trades some of these 2nds to add value to a trade. Otehrwise yeah it does seem kind of strange.
i am happy to see Dario start, and if not start at least play more minutes and more meaningful minutes. he certainly has earned it and might have started to start over Ilyasova anyway

they are going to draft an entire team overseas maybe. 2nd round picks are funny cause they seem like throw-ins to trades half the time, but i am sure they can be useful if Colangelo has a plan

Basically what i was going to post after reading through the Ersan trade posts. If you find one gem in the lot it's worth it. Also gives them plenty of extra assets to trade when you guys think you'll be winning championships.

Fighting for a top 5 pick. Get one of the PGs or SF types who carry the requisite weight/height to defend.
I am expecting Simmons and Embiid to sit more then they play the rest of the way.
They want 1 of the following players without having to trade -- Lonzo Ball, Josh Jackson, Dennis Smith or Jayson Tatum.

that's the beauty of what Sam created. I don't see the Sixers looking to do worse (and if they do i think the motivation would be to beat Lakers out to the worse record to not let them get away with giving us the pick next year). With the Sacemento flip, and the future assets, they don't need to do anything beside build the team. Like i mentioned above, i think there was 0 chance they resigned Ilyasova with Saric looking good and other options at the 4. so they got something in excahnge for a month and a half rental.
And don't get me wrong, Ilyasovs has had his moments. But this is like the idea of Kings wanting to tank on purpose with Rudy Gay getting injured. looking at simple stats you could say Ilyasova helped, but most of that was last fall. Watching in January and February Ilyasova hurt the team more than hurt, and there is little doubt Saric will be able to do replace him without much drop-off, and possible improvement

yeah my hope with this move was that the team had a feeling Simmons scan tomorrow will show 100% healed and he plays the last month of the season. Team needs to see how he fits in, is PG a possibility, and he works with someone like Noel who the team will need to figure out what to do if they move Okafor in the next 17 hours or so. with them potentially having 2 top 10 picks it is really important to be able to see what they have with their future players. That is why i am surprised when people are all wanting the Sixers to shut down Simmons, don't want a logjam somewhere else on the team with a need too.
And for those in this thread who are sick of hearing about the Sixers or the Process, believe me most of us hate it more then you. Worse thing to happen for the team was the Sixers success in January. Now every sports media outlet is trying to talk up the Sixers and at least half of them just don't understand what the Sixers did/have because they are only hopping on now. I get sports media needs to stir the pot for ratings, but for me the fans on these radio stations are utterly unbearable

Local talk radio consensus (for what that's worth, which is admittedly not much) was that the move was to clear cap space moving forward, and to get a better look at Dunn. Dunn isn't a 19 year old one and done rookie. He should be more ready than he appears, but the idea is Thibs wants to get an extended look at him and see if he has the potential to be the PG of the future or if they should cut bait and move in another direction. Makes sense to me.
It does make some sense. I don't even have a huge problem with it (unless Rose hoodwinks then into resigning him). It's just a bit disappointing because I always assumed the Wolves would get something if/when they moved Rubio.

According to K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune, the Bulls have "shown no inclination" to include a first-round pick in a potential deal for Jahlil Okafor.
This goes to show how much value Okafor has around the league. We've heard reports that the Bulls are offering Nikola Mirotic for Okafor, but that's probably not going to cut it for Philly. Okafor will be one of the most popular names in the rumor mill today so this won't be the last thing you hear about him leading up to the deadline.

Taj Gibson - F - Bulls
According to Marc Stein of ESPN, Taj Gibson has emerged as a trade target for the Thunder.
The 31-year-old PF is playing on a $8.95 million expiring contract, and with the Bulls considering a rebuild, his name has been in the rumor mill for a while. You would think that Gibson would get a short-term boost in OKC with Enes Kanter (arm) on the shelf, but the big man went through a non-contact practice on Wednesday and is said to be nearing a return. A trade would likely hurt Gibson's value, but Bobby Portis would instantly become relevant since coach Fred Hoiberg said that he is officially ahead of Nikola Mirotic on the depth chart.

2 years left on cheap rookie deal, he's going to bring back higher return than Taj & Mirotic (both upcoming FA). Bulls simply don't have the shooting to deal him w/o getting something significant in return. He has the most in demand skill in today's game. Hoping Taj goes and just throw Mirotic/Portis out there. No reason to not just throw Mirotic/Portis combo to the fire rest of year.

According to Marc Stein of ESPN, Doug McDermott is "in play" at the deadline.
From the sounds of things, every Bull appears to be available for the right price leading up to the deadline, but Taj Gibson and Nikola Mirotic are the most likely to be moved. Seriously. He's really young. And while he'll never be great at defense, he can be the kind of guy to average 25 a night at some point. So you take the trade off. Hr just need a a spot where he can grow and be consistent.

That's one of the side effects from tanking so many years in a row. Those young players have no veteran leadership to help guide them, they are surrounded by players that don't make them look any better, and they usually get the worst coaching in the league. But hey, at least they are on pace for another top 4 pick in next year's draft!

Agreed. It seems the timing with Rubio in Minnesota was always wrong. Passing on Curry because of his upside, never trading him when he his perceived value went up, contract timing and issues with Love. I think it is just one of those things where it is time to move on and hopefully he succeeds somewhere else.

The Pistons have a high asking price, yet Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical reported on Wednesday night that a lot of teams don't view Jackson as a starter. Unless the rumors ramp up, Ish Smith is losing some stash appeal with a Jackson trade looking unlikely. According to Chris Mannix of The Vertical, the Pistons will continue to aggressively shop him and they are looking for a first-round pick, a young player or an expiring contract.

Who knows. Philly kinda kicking the can down the road again with this trade. Noel was a solid building block and could play alongside Embiid even though they only tried it for 8 minutes this year. Guess they didn't want to pay him yet. Seems like a lot of faith for Philly to be putting in Embiid when he's only been able to play 30 games in 3 years and is coming off another injury.
If Ainge doesn't get any of the three superstars that were on the trade market (and he very well could have added Cousins + George/Butler), Boston fans should riot. There's a better chance the Nets picks end up at #4 than #1 and they end up with two Jaylen Brown types who don't move the needle.

I would guess that an Okafor trade is possible, but that Colangelo sees that there is no value there, so move on to Noel. But this pick is apparently top-18 protected, so that is kind of a crummy return for Noel, though Justin Anderson is not useless. Probably would have been better to gauge his FA value.Who knows. It wouldn't to me. the best rationale for not dealing them I've heard is that they think Fultz might be a franchise cornerstone, but there's only a 25% chance they will be able to draft him, and then you have to further account for the high probability he never lives up to that potential.

Yeah I think I'm thinking along the same lines. Definite :sad banana: for Noel leaving but I'm hoping it was a measured move by the team knowing that Noel wanted to start somewhere or that Noel was going to command a ton of money they are hoping to have available In the next season or 2 for free agents, etc. agreed the return looks to be weak though. And that is probably an understatement. With Noel's offensive game improving a bit his value is certainly better then what they got in return
But I'll wait until after 3 to pass full judgement. Really hoping colangelo is working on some other things. To pull okafor last week and have him not available for games before that knowing he wasn't a great fit demands he finds a trade for okafor. And hopefully some of the pieces he has he can end up with something better at the end of the day.
And if this is I really hope Sixers look at their front office before the next draft and figures out what they want to do.
