2016 gifts for men and dads....we get asked what we want every year. (1 Viewer)

Why though? Is it a sweat issue? I just don't get why people wear them.
According to my wife, it makes the dress shirt fit and look better - a white underlayer is better than a pale pink underlayer for the look of the shirt, makes the color look more crisp.  A coworker asked me what had changed in my wardrobe, I told him it was T-shirts, he said it was an improvement... I'm not sure in what way.

This isn't any revolutionary life-changing thing - it improved my appearance by 1%.  I wouldn't wear them for that reason, but I like how they feel in the winter.

ETA: Not a sweat thing - I don't have problems with that at all.

I can't do the undershirt thing. Seems totally unnecessary. If Clark Gable doesn't wear one, why should I?
was a staunch undershirt under any shirt guy until about 3 years ago

under t-shirts, under sweaters, under sweatshirts, polos, button-downs.  all of it.  i've since gone sans undershirt under all but button-downs and then i now wear a-frame's instead of a crewneck undershirt.

much better. much more comfortable.

What kind of smart components work with it and where do you find them?
Light bulbs, plugs, light switches, doorbells, door locks, thermostats, etc.

Amazon has a ton of them on sale today. HD, Lowe's, Walmart, etc frequently have sales as well.

Everything does work best if you have a hub too, but some stuff works directly with Alexa.

I've got my eye on some noise canceling headphones to make my China trips a bit more tolerable.
If you fly a lot I can't believe you don't have any yet.

Go over the ear type instead of the ones the rest on your ear IMO. Much more comfortable when wearing for long periods of time.

Vitamix

It;s becoming a chore to make my daily smoothies with my POS Black and Decker blender. Thing is on it's last leg.
This thing is 1000x better than any blender. Never gets stuck, easy to clean.

Only way I am able to eat anything close to the 6 servings of veggies or whatever we are supposed to eat. Just blend them up in the morning with and drink them.

I wear them because I'm constantly cold.  Maybe I have poor circulation, I don't know.  They usually keep my office in the low 70s (I think), and that seems cool to me.  An undershirt gives me just a little bit more comfort.  YMMV.

I don't fly all that often, but lately it's enough to make me want something better.  I bought some cheapo in-ear noise canceling headphones for my last trip and was disappointed in their comfort, degree of noise reduction and sound quality.  I'm looking for something better and am looking for suggestions.

I have an older pair of the Bose. Similar to these but probably 10 years old. For me the over the ear is the way to go, rather than the ones that rest on your ears.

They still work great and are very comfortable. I fly a bunch and it's one of the things I don't travel without.

If you go to Best Buy there are probably many options, I'd pick up a pair before your next long flight.

how are your nipples?

I have to wear t-shirts under my scrub tops everyday due to nipple chaffing.  The hospital is always changing their detergent to what I guess is the least expensive, and it causes the scrubs to be very stiff and scratchy.  No one raw dogs hospital scrubs without getting runners nipples.  But, any t-shirt will work.

I would be interested in this question as well.
I just bought 2 dots on BF along with some other smart home stuff.

so far this is what i've used them for

Echo Dot:

• Sports, weather, traffic update
• Playing specific songs off of Spotify
• My kids ask it to tell them a joke all the time
• Voice command calcualor
• Add events and to-dos to my calendar

With the Samsung SmartThings hub
• Turn my den lights on/off

Future:
• Garage door opener (so i can open it remotely in case my dad needs something)
• Nest (or similar) thermostat
• Outdoor color change lights for the garden/deck
• Notifications for when my daughter gets home from school alone next year for the 1st time

We also just bought a Samsung Smart TV, so I read that there you can also control some of your lighting and notifications right from your TV remote.

I just want everyone to be happy. And I wanna get rid of all the excess crap in my house. And new wood floors or carpet that my boys destroyed and I also want like a hundred bj's and to drink beer in the shower without being judged.

One with both black and whites pieces...
That's actually a good point.  We have one with clear and frosted.  I still don't know which moves first.

Just get something cheap - no need to spend a lot on a chess board unless you want to leave it set up when company comes over to show off.

Thx. I really wish someone would challenge Logitech in this market. I'm on my third one in 6 years.  I will likely wind up reluctantly getting that 650.

:kicksrock:
I had the same issues - I bought the one that uses your local wifi network and you use the app on your phone.  Cheaper for multiple remotes as you just add another phone, all features and far easier to use since the screen on your remote are the custom buttons for each of your devices that are being controlled - not the "best approximation" of the buttons or even screen on the harmony remote.

I would like a set of good whiskey/rocks glasses.  I currently have just a mix of cheap random stuff.
The rocks scare me a little (would rock dust ever get in your drink?) but the ice ball/sphere molds are awesome. I highly recommend them.

A few extra minerals never hurt!  They make stainless steel versions of "rocks" as well.  Ice melts and dilutes the drink.  Anyway, I usually drink my scotch neat, so I don't really need the rocks/ice.  I just want a good set of glasses

Ooohh  Here is an interesting way to sample a number of different brands of single malt.  Advent Calendar  They have several other sampler packs for other things if Scotch isn't your thing
