THIS ... They were not blitzing much at all. They simply dropped into coverage and were hoping Dak would make a mistake. He didn't. I could tell he was getting a little nervous in the 2nd have. He started "guiding" the ball to the receivers and his passes started to float a bit but then he righted that ship and was throwing the ball with some zip the last two drives. The main issues I saw were as follows:I only saw one screen but the Giants didn't blitz much.
- Witten had one of the worst halves I've ever seen him play in the 2nd half. He dropped 2(?) balls and slowed down on a route late that resulted in an incompletion.
- All receivers ... from drops (2 TD's) to catching first downs and then losing them by going backwards (happened at least 3 times ... twice by beasley and once by williams) to Williams inexplicably not getting out of bounds at the end of the game. Need to take a look at the receivers coach.
- Run Blocking ... just horrible. Elliot had nowhere to run. He did have a couple runs late where he could have cut it inside but would have been big gainers. I think those two runs were more a product of him just trying to make a big play at the end of the game. Poor decision-making there. All in all though, the Cowboys were inept at running the ball while on the flip side, the O-line did a great job pass blocking ... but again ... the Giants didn't blitz much.
Coaching ... the playcalling was solid early. Alot of 1st down pass plays and we were really moving the ball well through the air. However, they never made any adjustments to the run play calls to counter what the Giants were doing. And someone PLEASE tell me why we kept calling TE screens on 3rd and long!!!!!! While Witten has been a warrior over his career, noone is going to mistake him for Aaron Hernandez. Those were complete wasted plays.
