2016 Tour de France (July 2-July24) (1 Viewer)

Why should the Peleton sit up because the leader's team, but not the Yellow, crashes due to their own error?
On a stage like this where Etixx et al were pushing the pace, they shouldn't.  Then again I'd be surprised if the stage was anything other than a non-event anyway.

This is fascinating to watch...it's the first time I really got watch/follow the Tour, & the whole concept of the sport & it's machinations & team(play?) is intriguing.  I dig it

I have a love/hate relationship with cycling. Its stages like today that I hate when the fans get too close to the racers. Obscuring the road and running along side. I want to see the racers race and challenge each other, not dodge drunken idiots. While I am still hunting for what happened, I just know some dork got too close and screwed the race up for everyone. Bah.

Trying to figure out how this works...if there's an accident, do they just give all the riders in certain groups the same time, regardless?

Not on an uphill finish.  On the sprint stages if you're with the group with 3km to go, you get the same time regardless.  I guess they did the only thing they could since they crashed into a stopped motorcycle, but I do wonder what they do the first time a spectator just takes out a racer (which we all know is going to happen at some point) on one of these stages.

Generally that's the case inside of 3km but only on flat stages.  On mountain stages it goes to the judges if there's outside interference.

49th overall on KOM.  Gained 20 spots without burning an transfer.  DeGendt was the hero of the day.  Guess I need to figure out how to get Mika in the mix.

Great stage yesterday.  Kristoff almost got it done, Sagan is a beast.  Slowly climbing up the FBG contest but lost Frank.

Boned the KOM contest as I didn't get my transfers in prior to the last mountain stage and plummeted down into the two hundreds.  Here's my new lineup.  Open to all suggestions.  Really would like to dump Yates for someone else as I suspect he's just going to try to hold a podium position and not be aggressive.  Probably should get rid of Costa too, but I con't find anyone cheap.  Majak was a recent add but I'm thinking about changing that that for tomorrow.  Do you think he'll try to lock up the KOM tomorrow or wait for a stage with more points earlier in the day?

Assuming he finishes, Sagan is now guaranteed green with a 197 point lead, and only 190 points remaining.

P.S. this is a beautiful mountain stage!  The scenery is just flat out gorgeous.  GB Swiss Alps.

I am fairly certain that the KOM jersey is wrapped up now... Unless Majka Dumoulins.  Green + Polka Dot = Great tour for Tinkoff's swan song.

ETA: RIP Tom Dumoulin's Tour and Rio ambitions :(   https://streamable.com/9mod

Carnage all over the place - Froome goes down
Froome got really lucky there as that's the type of crash that's very easy to break a collarbone.  I wouldn't be shocked if Bardet can take a little more time tomorrow.

Morzine's forecast is 100% for rain tomorrow.

Our competition is starting to look like it's almost settled. I'll gain some advantage on GC points at the end, but not enough to bridge the gap.

edit: I am currently in 2nd, since I'm using my slave name for the contest

Hoping to make a late push for the podium position in the main contest.  Three of my riders are are in the 8 man breakaway group.

Slid to 117 overall in the KOM contest.  Ran out of transfers.  Have a pretty comfortable lead in the FBG KOM.

I think I found a solution to two huge problems.  We send our cops that like to shoot and beat up people to France.  Once in France they ride on the back of one of those two man motos.  See a guy waking a flag in front of the riders, take him.  See a guy mooning the riders, kick the crap out of him.  See a guy running alongside the riders or in front of them, pop a cap in their ###.  It's a win-win-win situation.  We get rid of bad cops, bad cops get to be violent, and the TdF becomes safer for the riders.

Didn't realize Izaguirre was in the break!!!

Ended up with 1st, 2nd, and 4th on the stage in the main contest.

Really surprised that Yates and Porte didn't make an attempt to move up onto the podium.  Very disappointed in this wasn't a better stage.
