2017-18 NBA (Playoffs): A gasping, wheezing thread begs message board poster arguing how Jordan never lost a Finals to just let it die in peace (1 Viewer)

I'm starting to feel confident that at least one of Cleveland and Golden State aren't making the Finals.  It's like Christmas is coming in June.

Houston-Boston finals would be serious business in my house.  My son is a Rockets fan and I've submitted my application to become Steven's towel boy.  :pickle:

Bummer.  I'm pulling for GS here, but I'd rather lose to a full strength Houston team than beat them at less than full strength.
Iguodala's absence has really hurt GS too.  People continue to underestimate his impact.  The opposite of your post should also hold true.

When you have 4 All Stars, 2 of which are All NBA.....no one is gonna feel bad for losing your 6th man.

Iggy is definitely more important than even I realized. I always felt he overpassed, but you really notice it now.

When I saw that live, it looked like he was looking to kick the ball out to the perimeter almost by default.  I think the team was trying to alert him that he had a clear path to the rim if he just turned around.
Yes, I don't think anyone actually thinks he got the baskets mixed up

This is a great article from Lowe today.  Blue collar guys like Ariza, Capela, Igoudala are essential to building a championship team.  People get caught up in offense, but you still need guys who play fundamentally sound basketball quietly that don't get the recognition of All Stars.

The Warriors also have so much dead weight on their bench that losing AI minutes is killing them especially when you consider the last two games were decided by only seven points.  I don't doubt they win at least one of those with a healthy AI headed home for game six.

Have to agree with Charlie here.  While Iggy is important to what GS does, his loss is a lot more easily replaceable by bench guys (more easily, not easily) than what Paul does for Houston.

Totally missing the point.  It's easy to see GS winning one or both of the last two games with a healthy Iggy.  At which point, Paul's injury could have been moot.  Nobody here is saying Iggy is as much of a loss to GS as Paul is to Houston.

i felt dirty enough betting on Boston the other night, but man taking a bite on them here isn't too bad of an idea:

To win the championship

Golden State Warriors -140

Houston Rockets +180

Boston Celtics +800

Cleveland Cavaliers +1000

That is incredibly tempting...

Then maybe you're missing my point.  This whole back and forth started with me saying too bad Paul is hurt, I'd rather see each team at full strength.  While losing Iggy is a loss, it certainly doesn't take GS out of contention for this series, nor can GS look back and say "what were we going to do, we lost Iggy so we really can't compete with Houston?"  No, of course they can't say that.

While it is possible for Houston to win one of the last two games, their chances take a lot bigger hit in the series with Paul out.

Fair enough.  If there is a game 7, I hope Paul is healthy.  If there isn't one, more power to Houston.

There is zero chance Paul will be "healthy" for game 7.  Anyone ever yank a hamstring to the point where it is actually painful to walk?  There is no quick recovery from a grade 2 hammy yank

:lmao: so the drop off from Chris Paul to Eric Gordon in this series is astronomical?

WTF are you talking about? Paul has averaged 34.5 mpg in these playoffs while Gordon has averaged 31.7. Against GS, Gordon has averaged more than 33 mpg.

He is not a replacement for Paul. He has mostly been playing with Paul.

Paul is a HOF player. He is the second best player on the team. Iggy is neither of those things. It is a much bigger loss for Houston. It isn’t comparable. If you think it is, take off your :homer:  glasses.

:lmao: what do mpg have to do with anything?

Cavs +1225

I can't imagine Boston beating GS. Some fantasize about Stevens doing magic but he's just a coach. He doesn't score. He doesn't defend. I don't believe in magic. I can fantasize enough to imagine Love and JR and Korver catching fire during another Lebron miracle, but it seems absurd. GS would have to lose key players or really choke. If I was using lottery money on something, Cavs +1225 is better. Though Warriors -117 seems like a no brainer now.

Who are the geniuses in the Cavs promotional department that decided to give away white T-shirts when the Celtics are wearing white?

While i HOPE the Celtics win tonite (game 6) and wrap this up ...i dont expect them to win based on how the series has unfolded so far...but i have to say this ...the Cavaliers fans suck at pumping up their team...there is NO energy in Quicken Loans Arena....you can hear a pin drop at times...or just squeaky sneakers ...especially compared to Boston fans and the TD bank north arena ...the energy level is like night and day...BOSTON SPORTS FANS ROCK
