2017-18 NBA (Playoffs): A gasping, wheezing thread begs message board poster arguing how Jordan never lost a Finals to just let it die in peace (1 Viewer)

If James was a robot, sure, he could have been the rah rah guy and pumped the team up, but he is only human, like the rest of us.  He had a human reaction to what can only be described as a kick in the balls by a teammate.

The optics of him looking pissed on the sideline are not good, but context is everything.

I'm not sure how he is pissing away a year of his career this year.  He's in the NBA finals.  That is an accomplishment.

I haven't, and will not put the blame of them losing on Lebron.  He has carried them.  All I've said is that he is part of the reason they are in such a tight cap situation and unable to be better, and also I did not think the way he handled that 3 minutes before OT showed great leadership, nor did it put his team in the best position to win.  If you want to say "he's done enough, he owes them nothing, he doesn't need to lift them up", then that's fine.  But I think the greatests would find a way to overcome that frustration... he lets it get to his head far too often.
only thing i really disagree on here is the that he is the reason they are in a tight cap situation. I would say no, the GM and the rest of the front office is that reason. he is earning what he deserves, it is up to the team to either structure a better contract or find a way to show Lebron why it makes sense for him to work with the team by giving up some money. But that is all on the team, not on Lebron.

Michael Jordan was notorious for kicking his teammates asses and for challenging them.  Watch a game from the 90's and youll see Jordan get in the face of any one who effed up in some stupid way, and this includes Pippen who Jordan rode hard and put away wet on multiple occasions.
I've already said my piece about LBJ failed leadership at the end of regulation, but I think the when people bring up Jordan's actions as evidence of being a "poor leader" or using it as contrast to support LBJ are off base.

Yes, Jordan punched teammates andcursed them out....but at least he was consistent in his leadership style. The consistency in MJs unrelenting style of leadership filtered out those who couldn't handle it (sent away) and those who could...MJ could tear into anytime....and they'd be ok with it. So yes...Jordan lead his team how they should be led.

From my observations and reading about (makes me an expert) LBJ's leadership style is generally inclusive and positive. So for him to sit in silence and sulk.....what do you think his teammates will feel? It's uncharacteristic of LBJ. Of course they'll be rattled. Everyone keeps saying LBJ is human he allowed to be sad, but his teammates are human too and they look to their leader consciously or subconsciously.

I don't think he's earning any more than he deserves.  Like others have said, I don't even really think he has much choice in what he earns.  Sure KD took less, but the union would not like him taking less, and I dont expect him too.  But I DO think he had a big part in that Thompson contract, and some of the other ones as well.  He was pushing for those hard and they are in a really tough situation right now partly because of them.

but again, how can Lebron be blamed for that? He doesn't write the checks for Thompson. Say he goes to the GM and says "you should sign Thompson to a big contract". GM needs to have the people skills and assertiveness to let Lebron know if that isn't a good idea, and explain to him why. i think that is 90% on front office and GM, 10% on Thompson's agent

I think he has more influence then you're putting on.  I don't think the GM is going to be assertive to Lebron.  It's his team.  Like most things, the truth probably lies somewhere in the middle, but I think most agree that he has a huge part in who they are signing and that GM's and Coaches on his teams have less of a role than they would on other teams.  He always had his opt out, and always had the fear in them that he could leave any season he wanted to if his demands weren't met.

I am not a huge NBA fan but Silver is a smart man and one heck of a businessman and leader.

Is there anyone that wants Colangelo around?  I don't see how this is a no brainer.  Despite what actually happened, at this point is he THAT good of a GM that it's even WORTH all the fan backlash, tweets, media, possibly unhappy players, possible FA's being scared away, etc mess?  Like at this point I don't even care if he did it or not, it's gotten to the point where he's gotta go.

Sounds like Ayton thinks the Suns might draft him. Pretty much a done deal
It's been thought he'd be the pick for a while now.  He's been mocked #1 overall by every major sports site.  The order Bagley, Doncic and Jackson go will be the interesting thing. Starting to think it will be in that order.

Props to @cappella. You honestly deserve an award for best thread title changes over the past two years.

Also, please tell me you guys have been making fun of Kevin Love’s horrific haircut ?

That is so far down the list of things to make fun of Kevin Love for that we haven't gotten to it yet.

Home cooking in full effect tonight. Nice to see the NBA sticking with tradition.
See, this is why I don't trust the NBA officiating.  GS is up 2-0 in the series, and what do you know, Curry gets 2 fouls in the first 6 minutes?  Stuff like that happens too often in the NBA (no conspiracy, just smells bad).

But the first foul on Curry was obvious.  I mean, just a dumb play by him.   The second foul was weak.  Just a horrible call.  But it was still Curry's fault --- he just can't help but put himself in position like that at least once a game, at exactly the wrong time.
