Why wouldn't Indy just wait a few days to see how free agency plays out? Makes no sense to rush a deal, you telling me this OKC deal isnt there for them at any point in the next couple of months?
Don't get me wrong I think OKC came out smelling like a rose in this deal, and Indy got left holding a bag of doody.   WTF was Indy thinking that they would give up George, and take on Oladipo's crap contract?  Why not just wait a few weeks?  Why not just use George this year?   Wrong move Indy, but thank you.

You sound a lot like Patriot fans who used to get impatient with BB...Ainge has done a fantastic job rebuilding this team and while many are getting impatient (and I understand why) I have total faith that this will work out well...if we get to opening day and they are still sitting on their hands then I think the heat is going to be turned up real hot...but right now there is no need to panic...
Comparing Belichick to Ainge is insulting to anyone in Bill's family. Bill does incredible things, Ainge has done some good things, but really most of what he did what rip off an idiot of an owner and GM a few years ago. Ainge hasn't won anything as a GM.

Forgot about 09 :wall:

I think he may have put together a team that won a title but that's pretty small potatoes.

Sorry but you are wrong...he has one ring and after hiring Stevens (which was considered out-of-the-box) they have gone from 25 to 40 to 48 to 52 wins and just added the #3 pick in the draft...yes, there is still a lot of work to be done about how they get to the next level but let's not act like this franchise is not beyond healthy right now because they are...

If they don't sign at least one big name, it makes me wonder if he's going to be forced to get Thomas a huge deal which might hinder that team for many years.

More

Just to confirm it all: It's Paul George for Domantas Sabonis and Victor Oladipo. No picks.

They got George and got out from Oladipo's deal. Great deal even if winds up for just one season.

Kanter (or even Adams) definitely tradeable even with trade kicker if they want a decent 3rd piece. I don't think they're done. They can't stand pat with both Adams and Kanter.

True. And if they can win the lotto next year and get Porter JR nobody will even care about any of this stuff anymore

OKC is wanting to talk to Zack Randolph.  Maybe they are going to drop Kanter?   Man if OKC can land another big name after everyone was ho hum thinking the Thunder where out of the running for all the big name players.

I know I am in the minority but I think IT is getting that deal...no need to go into that...

The big thing is Hayward...if you get him you have added Tatum and him and still have all of your assets...I love being in that spot...If you don't get him and Butler, George and Griffin are off the market then Ainge really has his work cut out for him because it would seem all the "easy" options to get better are off the table...

The Thunder worked to try and get Paul George on draft night but couldn't put together a package. They've been pursuing for weeks.

What OKC gave up for George (no picks) an indication of weakness of offers to Indiana. And how afraid teams are that PG will walk next year

Healthy isn't dependent upon winning a lottery :lmao:

They might as well still be a 30 win team by how far away they are from the elite teams.

I don't think they are dependent on winning the lottery...that being said I feel pretty confident the Nets pick will be top 5 and that Lakers/Kings pick will yield a nice pick as well...

i think the IT deal was a given when they traded the 1st to Philly, but i disagree that adding Taytum and Hayward help them much at all. It almost seems like adding Hayward at this point would be a waste of money. You either have to go in for a championship or plan for the future. Ainge seems to be doing neither, or more specifically doing both at 75%

Considering they were previously dependent upon a midget scorer that was easily shut down, perhaps the lottery odds don't look to bad.

He's got to spend the teams money on someone.   Its not like they need to collect any more assets.

Nothing but pure speculation on my part here---but while it does seem like OKC stole George--it's really only a steal if they can convince him to stay past next season.   My guess is that they try to get another solid player to try to get him to stay.   I would not be surprised to see them be the third team involved in a potential Knicks-Cavs deal. Maybe they get rid of Kanter/Adams and Roberson to be the team that lands Kevin Love?    Again--this is not a rumor--this is not being reported--it is nothing more than a personal suspicion.

Meanwhile, a source told ESPN's Jeff Goodman that the Celtics offered three first-round picks -- they did not include the Brooklyn Nets' pick in 2018 or the Los Angeles Lakers/Sacramento Kings pick -- and two starters (Jae Crowderbeing one) for George on draft night but were rejected.

As a Cavs fan hard to believe we couldn't have traded Love for George but I guess they wanted to tank.

And instead they get Olidippo and Sabonis.  Something doesn't smell right.

I don't think so. Oladipo is not good and is owed a ton of money. If they could've traded him for nothing it would have been worth it. Sabonis is really bad too.

I mean, if you're still high on Oladipo like some are (Zach Lowe, for example), I can see wanting him over Crowder and a couple crappy picks. But I have been down on Oladipo since he was drafted.

this is "fake news" if i have ever seen it. Celtis have offerred the world for years and always seem to just miss out

If that Boston offer is true, WTF?

Did OKC tell Indiana "hey, give us PG for #### because LeBron is going to sign with us next year for the ultimate KD revenge and you then have the East all to yourself"

He pretty much called this on his podcast last week. Impressive

Edit - and by called I mean he sort of mentioned it as a possibility, but still. The man hosts a good podcast

You've got to be high on something if you think he's worth $21M per for the next 4 years.

It's coming straight from Ainge to Goodman. Is Ainge lying?
i think the rumour a few years ago was Sixers giving up Noel and like 2 high 1sts round picks for some crap from Boston. that report was from Ainge or Boston mgmt at that time too. So yeah, if i had to guess, i would think this is a possibility to consider

Thanks for the tweets reporting the "theft" of Paul George by @okcthunder. Our investigative findings: totally legal & very savvy.

:lmao:
