I have a similar type of bet between DSJ and Fox (I have DSJ).  Went with ROY vote but I don't love those terms either though I think DSJ would be heavily favored there because pointzz

 
Sounds like the Suns have backed out of their Millsap pursuit as well as Minnesota (they probably didn't have enough money anyway, I don't think).

digging BC little more. Apparently Ainge was scrambling to sign Amir Johnson for a sign and trade with the Sixers for Okafor. Granted we all would like to see Okafor move on, but Ainge trying to be tricky with everything drops the ball again:

Woj confirming speculation that the Amir Johnson S&T talks were over bringing Jahlil Okafor to #Celtics, but fell short.

Guessing that has to do w timing like the PG thing. Til Gordo makes up his mind, Cs need every penny to be able to max him. AJ was already off the books in their capulations

I'm a little drunk with a few days off trying to throw some money around. If it's not obvious, I don't have a clue what I'm talking about, but I don't care. It's July and I'm fired up. I finally know the joy of being a Sixers fan.

Suns "interest" was overblown. No interest in adding long term salary right now. Particularly with Brandon Knight and 2 vets Tyson Chandler/Jared Dudley chewing up combined ~$37mil/yr the next 2 years. Latter 2 won't be impossible to move -- could always attach to Eric Bledsoe -- but given Knight quit on the team last year when they wanted him to play, it's gonna be tough to move him. (He's under contract for 3 more years)

It'll be a couple years before the Suns dip into free agency. Booker + Josh Jackson + Chriss + Ulis (ideally as spark off bench) + seeing whatever Bender offers (which isn't much to date) isn't a bad start. Chriss played well as a 19 year PF/C in the 2nd half. They're sitting a lot better long term than many teams in the league.

I agree. It never made sense to me that they would be in the market for a 32 year old PF with all the young bigs they have (plus Dudley and Chandler) and how far they are from the playoffs. But they were the only team other than Denver with max cap space that was reportedly interested. This news should cool the market a bit. Hopefully that works in Denver's favor not some team that was previously uninterested because of the price tag.

Millsap would be nice fit with Denver (or Minnesota). JMO I'd rather overspend on Millsap on shorter term deal than Plumlee. Plumlee's a starting NBA center but he's a backup in Denver.

That trade pissed me off. I really hope they just let it ride and hope nobody offers him a deal so they can sign him to the qualifying offer. I would have cut Nurkic outright before making that ####ty trade.

Really like this for Philly. Leaves open the flexibility next year and get one of the league's premier shooters for (at least) one year.

How does Amir Johnson average 2.6 points and 2.1 rebounds per game get an 11M contract?

I don't know a lot about the NBA, but can someone please explain $11 million for those stats

Average starter is around $13 million/yr.  he had 5 win shares last year so at least a competent backup big which the sixers needed and didn't want to get any long term deals.  If he could have gotten any more guaranteed for more years, he probably would have taken it.

Not bad for Raptors if winds up the case. Cringed thinking they'd pay him a franchise cap crippling amount deep into his 30s.

The "growing sense around NBA executives" is that Kyle Lowry will return to the Raptors on a deal around $81 million over three seasons, according to Jeff Zilgitt of USA Today.

Kyle Lowry over everything still exists for the Raptors. Once the Wolves agreed on Jeff Teague, the Raptors became the heavy favorite to bring back their All-Star guard. Lowry is 31 years old and his growth as a shooter suggests he should still play at close to an All-Star level at the back end of that deal.

Golden State offered Andre Iguodala a 3-year, $45 million deal and he's deliberating, league sources tell ESPN. No options are attached.

i'm utterly amazed at Celtics' fans opinions of it too. They act like both Pacers and Bulls didn't want Boston to get better so they declined the trades from Ainge. Seriously  :loco:

Colangelo was nice to Boston and Ainge to not throw them under the bus with their lies, but it may not go as well with this repeated behavior. seems news is creeping out little by little:

And that whole getting to the cap floor issue. They were roughly 50m short before signing Reddick and Johnson.

Started off strong, but the bench was horrible particularly in the backcourt.   Monk helps it, MCW really doesn't.  Howard is an interesting pick up.

It is as much money as he has made in his career in a year.  Lock it in and see what comes next year.

I'm disappointed but when I think of it I'm happy Ainge didn't overpay to get a deal done . I really don't get your hatred towards him

I think it's the fact that he acts like he's got all the gold in the world but people keep asking for too much when in reality he is lowballing everyone and no one wants to deal with him.

Almost certainly true, but he's dirt cheap and at least he might be able to allow Monk to defend PG's on the 2nd unit. MCW can be his worthless self watching Monk get buckets. It'll also help Monk get used to getting double teamed. He'll need that seasoning to become an MVP one day. Though I guess he is already accustomed to playing with a PG that can't shoot.

 
You guys talking about Fultz or Monk as if they will make a significant difference in wins.  They might be decent players, but even if you look at the list of the past ROY, how many of them have actually made a significant difference in wins the next season.  Promise for the future maybe, especially with freshman, but not instant difference in winning.

Is there any reason Hayward wouldn't go to Boston?  The only white star on that team would be treated like a god, and his jersey sales would be in the top 3 the day after his signing.
