Can not believe I am typing this and it matters but Shane Larkin is out tonight...
lol, but you are definitely correct. Smart got dinged up last game too, but what are you guys down to, 2 guards? and if Brett Brown can't come up with anything to take advantage of that, it will be depressing. draw some fouls on Smart and the 6'ers should be able to exploit. Should being the key word

Why do you think that?  Watching teams actively make fourth quarter changes to lose is really bad.
I didn't see any of that. I did see lots of competitive games between teams that were trying to get into the playoffs or improve their seed. Lots of them. Were you tuning into games featuring sub 30 win teams and expecting a quality product?

So I get suckered into looking at articles with "rumors" about where Kawhi and Lebron may go. I see out of every 4 or so, an article that says Lebron is going to go to Lakers. I always can't figure it out because it doesn't seem to make a ton of sense, and every single time I check the author and it is a Lakers blog. So the Lakers' bloggers are 100% behind thinking Lebron is going there, and no one else in the nation seems to be thinking that. just kind of cracks me up:

Shaq seems to think he's going to the Lakers, along with Paul George, and maybe some other guys in addition. I don't know why he thinks that, or how he thinks it would be possible, but he's not a Lakers blogger at least. It's not just Lakers bloggers making that suggestion.

yeah I have seen the hometown thoughts with Kawhi and PG3, but with Lebron it just doesn't seem like there is anything there that makes sense.

I just think Lebron has had a plan for the entire year. nothing 100%, but already kind of knows what he wants. He probably plays the game and stops at some places so he can be showered in praise, but he seems to know where he is in his career and what he wants to do.

I know Chris Boussard is a talking head on ESPN which should give him zero credibility, but he has been riding the Lebron to Philly train all year. he at least seems like he may have an idea of what he is talking about.

it should be fun regardless.

Maybe he does. I really think what happens with Cleveland's roster in the offseason will have a lot to do with his ultimate decision. But the truth is, I don't know, the bloggers don't know, Chris Broussard probably doesn't know, you don't know, etc. I don't spend much time on the speculation myself, it's ultimately a pointless exercise. There are reasons for him to come to the Lakers, but it's entirely possible other places give him more reasons. I just hope that he does whatever he does as early as possible in the FA period so the Lakers can adjust accordingly.

for some odd reason I have gotten sucked into this one. I usually ignore most of them too, or read for just a look, but yeah, it isn't like every article has any new news. it is all the same speculation, over and over. Funny how it works, but guess you have to write about something.

and for you guys as Lakers fans, if you spent time on the speculation your head could explode. isn't like every single year you guys are connected to the top 5 FAs? Maybe that is why I am still checking, we had quite a few years where not a lot of people wanted to come to Philly, and the FA signings weren't really big splashes. More like a leaky faucet drip

ETA: those can be fun too. Ish Smith was fun to watch, same with KJ McDaniels and Jerami Grant. there were a few fun to watch

When the Lakers have cap space they do seem to get mentioned. I think legitimately initially, but Jimmy and Mitch (and Kobe) kind of made it a bit of a joke over the last decade. I don't know how appealing a spot this would be for LeBron really in terms of strictly competitiveness. I think it's a wash between the Lakers and Cleveland as it stands now. Cleveland will have their current roster and a high draft pick most likely, Lakers will have their current roster and another near max FA spot (if LeBron comes here) this year, potentially another max FA spot next year when it'll be easier to move Deng's contract. Tangibly the 76ers seem more well set up in terms of known quantities talent wise going forward, but not much cap flexibility if they sign LeBron.

Then there's Houston if they can find some way to free up enough cap space.

If I were James, I'd seriously consider sitting tight in Cleveland for one more year. Maybe things get better on their own in Cle, and other destinations will still basically be there next offseason. Forcing his way to L.A. and demanding instant changes to their roster to get "his guys" could leave them in a position where they have zero depth. As he gets older, he's going to need that depth to support him. Better to wait a year if he wants to go to L.A. Let them get Paul George, retain Randle, maybe clear Deng off the books next year without having to trade at least two of Ingram/Kuzma/Ball/Hart.

I don't know, but the offseason is going to be interesting regardless.

Aren't you proving my point?  More competitive and meaningful games equates to more interest and a better league.  If you still have sub 30 win teams giving a #### against five or six playoff contenders, that makes things so much more interesting down the stretch.

I'm confused. I thought your point was the last month of the regular season sucked. I'm saying it didn't suck, because there were tons of meaningful games on a near nightly basis, right down to the last day of the season. I have zero expectation that every single game/team is going to be worth watching, tanking or not. As you get toward the end of the season, you know there will be bad games (again tanking or not) because the lousy teams have been well established at that point - I would never expect them to participate in good games and I wouldn't tune in to watch them either.* There were plenty of teams and games worth watching, to the extent that the last month of the season was actually the opposite of suck overall.

*This is hyperbole. I actually watched all the Laker games down the stretch, even when Ingram and Ball and eventually even Kuzma were out, because I still wanted to see how Hart, Randle and Zubac would do. Their last few games weren't really competitive, and they weren't trying to tank, I'd categorize those games as objectively suck, but they were still of interest to me.

That said, I don't like tanking and I think the league should get creative in figuring out how to better discourage it. I think it'll be tough to do. You open up the lottery to all 16 non-playoff teams, you'll still get tanking where the 7,8,9,10 seed organizations who know they have no shot at a championship and don't care so much about the revenues generated from 2 extra playoff games will be trying to lose their way into the ping pong ball draw.

lol, looks like all the whining by Boston the last 2 days got to the refs. Brown throwing Reddick on the floor...all good

I thought we agreed to not whine about the refs?
:D  i will whine about how the F TNT, with only one series left, has mother f'n McHale commentating

and with the refs, i think it is more incompetence then anything. they just seem like they don't know how they want to call the game

Ben looks comfortable tonight, that is good

i enjoy the entire Celtics' team running away when Ben goes in to dunk

Saric looks good too, both guys are going at the defense.
as long as Saric doesn't get matched up on Tatum defensively, i think he will be ok. Tatum will snap his ankles 8/10 times

ETA: and yeah, Ben is enjoyable to watch when he is confident and comfortable. I was reading somewhere today that Ben has been talking about coming back to Boston for a few days with the intention of redeeming himself.

I’m pretty sure Embiid is allowed to kill a man on the way to the basket. And he’ll earn a foul doing so
and here we go......

really hoping the crowd #####es about every call/non-call too, while completely being objective

Get Covington out of the game.  He sucks
definitely one of the stranger stories with this series. We know he can be streaky, but he is literally ice cold. Game 2 he looks like himself, and every other game, on both offense and defense, he just looks like the moment is too big for him

Both these teams are playing this like 2 young teams would play a game 7. Nerves are getting to them, and they are feeling the other team out. I think the first team that gets aggressive is going to win this game.

the 2 fouls on Ben (2nd one all on Belinelli) hurt the Sixers aggressiveness when Brett had to sit him. Hopefully he comes back in like he left

is there some rule that Tatum can only be called for 1 foul/quarter? or that if they call a foul on him they need to call 3 on the opposing team?

Please Boston, have some respect for yourselves. If the only "celebrity" you have is Drew Bledsoe, maybe just skip showing shots of the crowd?

Embiid and Covington look lost out there. I don't think Embiid has touched the ball without fumbling it yet.
Rozier would be the under-appreciated player of this series if the commentators didn't lick his nuts every chance they get. So, Dario should get the award. Guy doesn't catch any breaks, and is fun to watch when he is confident
