Chris Paul recruiting LeBron James.  If I am James and the salary cap works, why go anywhere else as this is your best chance for another ring?

Because that probably isn't his best chance for another ring. Chris Paul getting hurt isn't some unpredictable event. Maybe Harden and James would be enough in that case, but considering they'd probably have a really stripped down roster if James goes there, there's an incredibly slim margin for error. Philly seems like his best option - younger, don't need to completely blow up the team to fit his salary in. You could say Embiid is as fragile as Paul, but I'd still rather have the young fragile guy than the old fragile guy. Plus Paul's salary will limit Rocket moves in subsequent seasons. Also it would keep LeBron in the east which is still an easier path than the west.

I would figure at this point they would all be willing to cut salary to make everything work just like the Warriors have done.  Someone else can correct me if it's not possible in this case.

Was listening to Simmons (so take that for what it's worth) and I guess they can make it work by stretching Anderson and getting rid of everone besides Harden, Paul, Capela, and Gordon.

Roughly 30M a year? That's what I get for using hoopshype as a salary reference. They don't have that deal posted in their data. Is the rest of their info for the 76ers correct? They're committed to about 74M with Embiid's salary for 2018-2019? Cap is at 101M? They'd need to clear a little to give James a max deal, I think @modogg was saying dumping Bayless would do it - right? Seems like they could do that easy if they're willing to give up the #10 pick this year (or maybe Fultz  ). Wonder if Reddick would sign a 1 year cheapo deal to pick up a ring.

I doubt they have to give up much to get rid of a 9 million expiring deal.

Do you think James commands a max deal at this point in his career though?  His Nike deal alone is reportedly worth over a billion dollars.  I think another ring or two for him is more valuable over his life than whatever $xx million/year his NBA deal is worth.

I agree with this, I am sure the union pulled him aside after he did it in Miami and said please don't do this again and probably gave him the speech about how this limits all other players from getting more money.

i think if they stretch Anderson they need to move Gordon too. and it literally gives them minimal money left over

They have 30 now.  they could stretch Bayless to get to 35.

Joel gets 25 next year as a result of getting only 2nd team all-NBA.

they should have no problem getting there. Getting rid of Baylis would be great, but even if they can't they have some options. some things i wasn't that familiar with under the new collective bargaining deal they can do with JJ, re-sign him for cheap, and his bird rights come back in play or something. 

the whole Colangelo thing has caused me to lose my focus, but i have heard a bunch of of different ways to get there without losing much. Holmes may be a casualty, and some of the bench free agents may need to sign for cheaper. 

one i liked was if/when LBJ signs with Philly, Korver will do whatever he can to follow him here.

You forgot about the LeBron/Cav fans that hate the Warriors because they took out all the suspense out of the NBA because we all know they will win it, but they love LeBron and he made all other teams in the East irrelevant for the last 8 years.
