2017-18 NBA (Playoffs): A gasping, wheezing thread begs message board poster arguing how Jordan never lost a Finals to just let it die in peace (9 Viewers)

Let's fire this thread back up:

LeBron James 748 points this post season was good enough for 2nd behind Michael Jordan’s 759 points in the 1992 playoffs. LeBron also attempted 71 fewer field goals, while recording 71 more assists, 63 more rebounds and a higher true shooting % and effective field goal % than Michael Jordan.

With a broken hand.

If Jordan played with these Cavs, he would have scored 1000 points.

This whole shtick of LeBron didn't want to make an excuse about losing the finals until releasing the info the day after they lose is hilarious.  It's not like it happened 8 years ago and then he brings it up.  It is brought up specifically as an excuse as to why they lost and presented as this humble story that happened so long ago.  If anything you would bring it up before they get swept like any other injury.  Unless he was embarrassed by being so stupid to bust his hand on a wall.

So really we have 1) LeBron showing how he didn't want to bring up something embarrassing at the time (if it happened at all) and 2) then using it as an excuse by saying they didn't bring it up at the time so it wouldn't be an excuse.

This is why this guy is so unlikable.  He is the A Rod of basketball.  He has no maturity and lacks common sense when it comes to communication (taking my talents to South Beach) and everything is done through the selfish prism of how it impacts him.

@LeBron, you did a great job taking a no talent team to the finals.  You got crushed by a better team.  There is no shame in that.

All of the above is null if he goes to the Lakers, then I will light all of your haters up.
Odd no one is lighting you up for this.

How do lebron and simmons play together?  Similar skill sets and position but Simmons cannot shoot.
This has been discussed at length already.  In Summary, sure it seems like they won't, but I'm sure they'd figure it out enough to win the East.  Also apparently bron wants to play off the ball a bit more.

Maybe James should stop cherry picking and try taking some shots with a higher degree of difficulty and risk missing a few rather than passing those off to Smith and Korver.  A few more points and we're playing tonight tied up at 2.

I could understand the GOAT losing a finals series or six, but getting sweep twice is pretty sad.

wait, the hot take today is that Lebron is only bringing up the broken hand as an excuse? that it's not really broken? and he should have waited to cast it until he was somehow out of the public spotlight?

i'm having trouble keeping up with the petty reasons people are throwing out to say that Lebron sucks

you know what.. i don't care.

@Capella, nuke this thing!

Couldn't San Antonio become that super team?
As a fan, I obviously hope so. LeBron to the Spurs feels like a real possibility to me (contingent on Kawhi staying) but I'm trying to remain realistic. Barring LeBron joining I'm not sure if they'd add any big pieces this year as they would have to pretty much gut the roster to create space. They'd do it for the King of course, but I don't know whether they'd make the same moves for other players who might be available.

Mike in Boston just called the Dan Patrick show to say that "Lebron wouldn't fit in Boston.... because he doesn't play team basketball".

sizzling!

it's a terrible match - and as someone who thinks Simmons will be a Top 5 player for a decade, i hate to see his development impeded this way - but, since it's been in the wind for a month or so, i been thinking about it.

i know @ LSU, Simmons didn't start plays from the top but hung the left side, not far from where Love goes in a Cavs set, and worked in til he got to the hole or the double came up, then shot or kicked, respectively. that would work, w LeBrohan & the PG taking the top & right and doing a "my play, your play" thing like Harden & Paul do in Houston (except they'll kick to a secondary drive instead of a spot-up). LBJ should solve some of Simmons' prob with defenses sagging back on him though as Stevens did.

Embiid is going to be as much a problem because, though, he'll go out once he's established himself low, he eats the space that the Kang likes clear. it will be ugly but, with that level of talent, devastating

In news that (sadly) nobody cares about -

Dwane Casey has reached an agreement on a 5-year deal to become the next coach of the Detroit Pistons, league sources tell ESPN.

If James was on my team and someone told me that adding a clone of James to my team was a bad idea because they have the same skill set, I would laugh.  Heck, give me 5 James and I'll figure out a way for it to work.

Had to change the station when this numb nuts came on (about the time he started in with the "I, me, mine" garbage). This is exactly why Patrick doesn't like taking calls.

are you as surprised as i am how easily the Boston populace is rolling over to the idea of getting James? figured that too much of modern Celtic identity is vested in beating the King, but i guess titles are titles. i'm done with the Green if they do is all i know

Doesn't surprise me at all - the opposite in fact. I'm surprised it took this long for them to concoct and promulgate narratives by which the Celtics can get James on the roster.

:lmao:  at the takes today.

Embiid is a problem for LeBron because he clogs the lane. WTF was Tristan Thompson then? At least Embiid can pop out as a 7 footer and hit 30+ percent of 3's. Thompson couldn't hit 30 percent of anything outside 10 feet.

Simmons and LeBron won't mesh because of floor spacing. Maybe you have heard of this guy LeBron used to play with named D. Wade. In the 4 years they played together I think Wade averaged 30 percent shooting 18 feet and out.

and like Joel would need even more of an excuse to hang out at the 3 PT line...........

And Lebron and Simmons are the types of players that can play with anyone.

They're all different, but I think Bosh and Love are better comp's than Tristan.  And it took each of them a long time to adapt to playing with LeBron.  And there's a good argument that neither one really did.  At least to their capabilities anyway.  Although Love may have finally gotten there this year.

Its about the laundry.  That's how it should be. I respect that about Boston fans.

Besides, you can't lose to lebron, if he's on your team.
