He's certainly better than this, but I never thought he was going to be a first team AA type player in his year of college. He's all tools and potential, other than his rebounding, which when he's healthy, is an elite skill. I thought a healthy Giles would be a 12 and 10 type of guy in college as a freshman.
He's got decent jump shot mechanics for a 6'10 guy but its not a weapon anyone ever feared
He's got a good enough handle to blow past HS kids, but I never thought he'd be any more than a 1 or 2 dribble straight line drive guy in college.
His athleticism and footwork in the post is good (because he's so agile) but he didn't have any go-to finishing moves.
Most of my viewing of Giles was with USA basketball after his freshman and junior years. He looked like an incredible athlete with a huge motor. In retrospect, my opinion of him was probably buoyed by the fact that those teams were just so much better than their competition that they just basically globetrotter'd everyone. Full court pressing and dunks for days.
This team is just broken right now. Major kudos to FSU, as they're very, very good. But Duke doesn't defend anyone (Tatum did so for a couple of games but has now just given up) and doesn't fit together. Just shows how much I know. I thought this season would be a 35 win cakewalk to the final 4, despite the strength of the league and the lack of a true PG. Maybe injuries are a part of this, but I don't see it anymore.
Bolden is going to be K's version of Daniel Orton at this point. However, that would probably be a slight to Orton, as he was at least productive in limited minutes.
