2017 College Football Thread: Hawaiian QB devastated to find out Jesus was "kinda rooting for Georgia" (3 Viewers)

My favorite team lost to a bunch of Trump voting hayseeds, my QB died on the field and I STILL LOVE THIS #### SO MUCH
It's the best. And I'd be saying the same thing even if I was having to absorb the harrassment from the respect-craving nouveau rich crackers surrounding me.

Sitting on the Alabama side is rough to even its own.

Also almost went with: The Clemson game was in January

Texas A&M regent on Facebook:

"I'm sure I may be criticized for this post but I honestly don't care. I've been on the Board of Regents for the A&M System for almost seven years. During that time, I've not once commented on Kevin Sumlin and his performance during his tenure at our school. I never said a word when he and his agent manipulated a much bigger and longer contract. I said nothing about his arrogance and his mishandling of multiple player controversies. I said nothing when we had multiple awesome recruiting classes, only to see key players leave our school or underperform.

"But tonight I am very disappointed and I have to say this. Kevin Sumlin was out-coached tonight, which isn't new. He recruits well, but can't coach the big games, or the close games. Our players were better tonight. Our players were more talented tonight. But our coaches were dominated on national TV, yet again. I'm only one vote on the Board of Regents, but when the time comes, my vote will be that Kevin Sumlin needs to GO. In my view, he should go now. We owe it to our school and our players. We can do better.
Share this as you see fit."

Josh Rosen (and perhaps Kevin Sumlin) saved Jim Mora last night, and so it's easy to forget that the Bruins were woefully unprepared for this game, they were manhandled on the line of scrimmage through most of it, they still can't run the ball worth a lick and they can't stop the run either. Maybe this miracle finish will energize UCLA and cause them to play over their heads for a while, but I fear they remain distinctly mediocre.

Should they consider canning Sumlin just after this loss?  Wasn't it a road loss against a team expected to go to a bowl?  Or is UCLA not good?  I really don't care about the style of the loss.  It's funny, but I don't think how they lost should be considered.

Both those coaches last night have underperformed for years.  One or both is gone this year regardless of last night, it's just that a National embarrassment tends to expedite things.

As a Razorback that's really depressing to hear.  Bielema's record at Arkansas is much worse than Sumlin's at A&M and I think he's pretty safe.

" Tonight’s game against Florida State was Nick Saban’s 51sts career game coaching Alabama as the Associated Press No. 1 team, the most games coached as No. 1 at one school. At 45-6 (.882), Saban has won more games coaching at No. 1 team at one school than any other coach in college football history. Woody Hayes (Ohio State) and Bobby Bowden (Florida State) are tied for second with 40 wins each. Bowden was 40-5 at Florida State as No. 1 and Hayes went 40-6 with Ohio State." - UA Media Relations

Sumlin may be the most overpaid coach in college football. He's at least in the discussion. The clock management in the second half was atrocious - Rosen should have never had that much time to work with. They were regularly snapping the ball with 15-20 seconds left on the play clock. They were up by 13, they were easily in field goal range and instead of putting the ball in the center of the field on 3rd down, they call a pass and the QB is sacked. The next play was a blocked field goal. It may be the worst-coached half of football I've ever seen.

They just showed Butch Jones on tv and my wife screamed HOW DOES HE HAVE A JOB

She knows almost nothing about college football.

I like the offense.  It's a throwback.  There's something to be said for the amount of prep a defense has to do because they don't see anything like it.
TaQuon was a RB last year.  I thought he was going to be the 4th string QB.  He's 170 soaking wet so I don't see him running it 25 times but we'll see.  Johnson seems to pull stuff out of his ###.

18 carries already :lmao:

Get the feeling we'll get to know the backup before midseason.

I'm convinced that when Johnson thinks he can move the ball that he starts calling the plays to just run clock. I think he'd love a game where he only had 5 or 6 possessions.
Damn right he would.

Also feels like they get every first down by a third of an inch, and it's always on third down.

I feel like it doesn't get much publicity because it's not flashy, but ### #### the GT option offense (and service academy offenses) are such a joy to watch and one of the reasons I enjoy college football so much.  The coordination of this offense to function effectively....different players in motion at every snap, QB pirouettes and has a fraction of a second to decide which option to use.  It's the closest thing football has to ballet, and it's so much fun to watch a team in synch just march right down the field like they did on that drive.

Buffalo is 100% an NFL town, and people tend to give me weird looks when I tell them I much prefer college football.  When they ask why, one of the first things out of my mouth is always the diversity of offensive and defensive schemes.  Georgia Tech is a perfect example of that.

They're fun to watch, but infuriating to have your team play against.

UB at Army this Saturday.  Last year UB somehow managed a win (Army kicker missed 2 FGs, 1 at the end of regulation and 1 in OT).  Army ran the ball 67 times for 396 yards and only threw the ball 10 times.

And GT gets 2nd half kick, LOL.

Ready for the Vols have run 3 plays in last 55 real time minutes update.

This was one of the more nerve-racking games I can recall:  http://www.espn.com/college-football/playbyplay?gameId=312602579

7 drives all game. Like @AAABatteries mentioned, they would prefer just 5-6.  If they can execute and are good enough on defense to get stops, the formula works.
