To be fair, Forde's article states that was the only call to that area code and it was less than a minute, which makes "wrong number" seem valid. But there were other things on his phone records which caused alarm. So he got himself in trouble, but the escort call doesn't seem to really be the issue.

I am sure there are much bigger priorities, that Baylor should be concerned about, rather than where the kid ended up going to high school.

RIP Ara Parseghian. Not only was he a great coach, but a great ambassador of the school and a great man. He always made genuine time for the little guys.

If some super stud recruit at IMG Academy demonstrated genuine interest in going to Baylor, do you think Rhule would refuse to recruit him?

That's funny. Last memory I have of him, he was beaten so badly by LSU that he quit football forever in the locker room after the game. Guess he's still a little bitter.

You're right. But he did quit during his post game press conference. Probably not the way he envisioned going out.
He got the better of LSU more than enough times, so I take a little solace in the fact that they were able to send him out with an ### whooping.

Auburn will be paying my alma mater UMass a reported record $1.9 million for a single game in 2020. (Might as well just extend the SEC invite ... this will be the seventh different school my Minutemen will have played since joining FBS in 2012).
This is just one of the reasons why I remain skeptical that any plans for a 16-team "superconference" format in the future will work. P5 teams continue to shell out big bucks to bring in G5 opponents for what equates to a seventh (or even eighth) home game on the schedule. Obviously it makes financial sense to do it from the school's standpoint, never mind the money that comes into the local economy with every home date.
So what happens when/if they eventually cut the G5s out of the deal and then every team is mandated six home dates and that is it? Will the TV/playoff money be enough to overcome that? Maybe/probably ... but that doesn't do anything for the local hotels/restaurants/whatever that lose out in the deal.
I'm not saying it can't happen, but it's going to take a major change in how the P5s and their communities do business.

You'd think a schedule of exclusively P5 matchups would be worth a hell of a lot more to the networks than having a slew of inventory of P5 vs G5 and P5 vs FCS. We'll just start looking at 10-2 records in that kind of system being much more impressive than a 10-2 record today when it's boosted by the OOC slate.
The whole "local economy" impact tends to be overblown anyway.

Oh, I'm sure it would be a sweet, sweet deal for the schools. But I'm not so sure about the local economy aspect ... I have a former co-worker who is a Nebraska alum and she got married in Lincoln. She had to wait for the Huskers schedule to come out before she could set the date.
One other thing I didn't mention: That UMass-Auburn game is set for Nov. 14, one of those traditional weekends when the SEC likes to play "cupcake" opponents leading into the big rivalry games. (UMass also has early-mid November games each of the next three seasons at Mississippi State this year, at Georgia in '18 and at Northwestern in '19.) What's going to happen now when P5s are mandated to play another P5 that week instead ... and perhaps a very good one, under whatever new scheduling formula they use?
Like I said, it certainly still could happen, but it's going to have to force P5 programs to completely change their approach to things and become more "NFL-like". They won't necessarily be in control of their own finances any more. Is that a good thing or bad?

It does beg an interesting question -- not that I'm advocating for it, obviously -- about how a superconference scheduling format would look.
Let's assume the 64-team model, with four 16-team "leagues". So I assume each league would be broken up into two eight-team divisions.
Assume each team would play every other team in their half of the conference every season = 7 games.
How would the remaining five games look? Do you play two crossover games within the conference, and then one opponent each out of the other three conferences? Three crossover games, and then only two from other conferences? Do you set it up with a formula, like the NFL has it, so that everything is predetermined? Are non-division opponents based on standings, or is there some "higher power" that controls the whole thing? Does Alabama (for example) accept that it might not be able to just say it wants to play Florida State this year, USC next year (or last year), etc.?
And then there is the question of what becomes of the bowl system. Obviously new bowl deals would be cut, if most of them even continue to exist. And then do you still have the "mandatory" .500 record to become bowl-eligible? Because under a superconference format, you will have fewer P5 teams getting to the required 6-6 record when they are playing each other for 12 games rather than picking up easy wins against G5s or even FCS teams.

I was skeptical of Willie Taggart but boy can he recruit. This is shaping up to be the best class Oregon has ever signed and with early signing period kicking in this December the early verbal commits are key.

HIs assistant coach hires were genius. Cristobal and Leavitt have been $$$$$.
Did you catch any of the Pac-12 media day? Interview with Taggert from our local sports radio guys were well worth listening to. He's done a lot to change the culture since he got there. To paraphrase, he got there and saw all these amazing facilities with one huge problem - nobody was in them. Team wasn't eating together or doing anything together. He's changed that considerably and has a big dinner Thursday night with the team, coaches and their families. Says it helps personalize the relationship between players and coaches to have the wives and kids there eating together. I'm sure a lot of that is fluff, but I'm sensing a real change from last year to now from the players, coaches, media, writers, etc. Pretty excited for the season to start.

Agreed. Probably a good chance Cristobal or Leavitt get head coaching offers sooner than later but they have been awesome. I didn't see any of the Pac 12 media coverage. From what I am hearing Helfrich lost control of the team and none of the players cared or respected him. I really like what I have hearing about Taggart.
Last year may have been a blessing in disguise to rid ourselves of Helfrich. His coaching decisions alone cost the Ducks at least 2 games last year (Nebraska, Colorado). I am excited to see them compete this year. Future looks very good.

Well, that was the year before but yes thank you for reminding me. Puke. I had a good buddy who went to the Alamo Bowl and he said he sat in disbelief a full half hour after the game was over.Don't forget that Alamodome vs TCU. That one still makes my blood boil.
