9 lives weren't enough for Hugh.
I think Freeze is too. Or pretends to be.Mrs. Freeze a huge bible thumper. This gonna be ugly.
To be fair, Forde's article states that was the only call to that area code and it was less than a minute, which makes "wrong number" seem valid. But there were other things on his phone records which caused alarm. So he got himself in trouble, but the escort call doesn't seem to really be the issue.Apparently this was the only Tweet from Freeze's official Twitter account the day after his phone call to the escort service:
"2Day the foundation of our hope isn't the completeness of our obedience, but rather the perfection of Christ's righteousness. thank U Lord!"
Whether the escort thing is anything or not, Freeze is as scummy as the come and his Born Again schtick makes him a disgusting hypocrite as a topper. To be fair, Forde's article states that was the only call to that area code and it was less than a minute, which makes "wrong number" seem valid. Hugh Freeze proves that you can't spell "escort" without S-E-C.
Honest question. Why does Nick Saban deserve a 10 million dollar salary? Why doesn't this money go to the players or grad students doing research?Capella said:Just the greatest sport ever created.
Because he's probably worth about 4 times that to the school.Honest question. Why does Nick Saban deserve a 10 million dollar salary? Why doesn't this money go to the players or grad students doing research?
You need to take a road trip to Alabama. Drive around look at the cars, check people out in the grocery stores, check people out at their court dates, listen to Finebaum, go boating on a lake and fishing down here and you will see.Honest question. Probably a little multi-tasking.So was Freeze calling for personal services or player/recruit services?
I've actually seen him preach.RedmondLonghorn said:I think Freeze is too. Or pretends to be.
More than that...football revenue close to that but add in tuition revenue, grants, etc (subtract higher expenses) and it's +$100M a year I bet.Because he's probably worth about 4 times that to the school.

Ask Bobby Petrinois being a scumbag a pre-req for coaching college football? or does coaching college football make one a scumbag?
As the Notre Dame coach from 1964-74, nine of Parseghian’s 11 teams finished the year ranked in the top 10 of the final Associated Press poll, and on 40 occasions during that period Irish players received first-team All-America recognition. He coached eight NCAA postgraduate scholarship recipients, 17 Academic All-Americans and five eventual winners of the NCAA Silver Anniversary Award.
He was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1980.
The 1966 season marked the third year under Parseghian, who nearly guided the Irish to the national title in his debut season (9-1-0) in 1964. Notre Dame’s domination on both sides of the ball was born out in the numbers – including a dozen players who collected All-America honors. The Irish outscored their opponents by an eye-popping 362-38 margin, finishing as the nation’s top-scoring team (36.2 points per game) while allowing just 3.8 points per game (second-best in the nation). Notre Dame shut out six of its 10 opponents, including 10th-ranked Oklahoma and 10th-rated USC.
He is just sucking up to Texas HS coaches with that comment.http://footballscoop.com/news/matt-rhule-says-wont-recruit-high-schools-pull-players-texas-high-schools/
Baylor’s Matt Rhule — who has never lived or worked in Texas before his Baylor hiring, but has since operated like he got here as fast as he could — told the assembled crowd that his staff will not recruit boarding schools that pull players away from Texas high schools. (Like IMG Academy)
I am sure there are much bigger priorities, that Baylor should be concerned about, rather than where the kid ended up going to high school.
That's funny. Last memory I have of him, he was beaten so badly by LSU that he quit football forever in the locker room after the game. Guess he's still a little bitter.
Yea I'm sure he's real beat up over that. Guy lived the damn dream for 50 years. That's funny. Last memory I have of him, he was beaten so badly by LSU that he quit football forever in the locker room after the game. Guess he's still a little bitter.
You're right. But he did quit during his post game press conference. Probably not the way he envisioned going out.Yea I'm sure he's real beat up over that. Guy lived the damn dream for 50 years.
You'd think a schedule of exclusively P5 matchups would be worth a hell of a lot more to the networks than having a slew of inventory of P5 vs G5 and P5 vs FCS. We'll just start looking at 10-2 records in that kind of system being much more impressive than a 10-2 record today when it's boosted by the OOC slate.Auburn will be paying my alma mater UMass a reported record $1.9 million for a single game in 2020. (Might as well just extend the SEC invite ... this will be the seventh different school my Minutemen will have played since joining FBS in 2012).
This is just one of the reasons why I remain skeptical that any plans for a 16-team "superconference" format in the future will work. P5 teams continue to shell out big bucks to bring in G5 opponents for what equates to a seventh (or even eighth) home game on the schedule. Obviously it makes financial sense to do it from the school's standpoint, never mind the money that comes into the local economy with every home date.
So what happens when/if they eventually cut the G5s out of the deal and then every team is mandated six home dates and that is it? Will the TV/playoff money be enough to overcome that? Maybe/probably ... but that doesn't do anything for the local hotels/restaurants/whatever that lose out in the deal.
I'm not saying it can't happen, but it's going to take a major change in how the P5s and their communities do business.
Oh, I'm sure it would be a sweet, sweet deal for the schools. But I'm not so sure about the local economy aspect ... I have a former co-worker who is a Nebraska alum and she got married in Lincoln. She had to wait for the Huskers schedule to come out before she could set the date. You'd think a schedule of exclusively P5 matchups would be worth a hell of a lot more to the networks than having a slew of inventory of P5 vs G5 and P5 vs FCS.
The whole "local economy" impact tends to be overblown anyway.
There will be an SEC war over who gets to play Vanderbilt and Kentucky that week.Oh, I'm sure it would be a sweet, sweet deal for the schools. But I'm not so sure about the local economy aspect ... I have a former co-worker who is a Nebraska alum and she got married in Lincoln. She had to wait for the Huskers schedule to come out before she could set the date.
One other thing I didn't mention: That UMass-Auburn game is set for Nov. 14, one of those traditional weekends when the SEC likes to play "cupcake" opponents leading into the big rivalry games. (UMass also has early-mid November games each of the next three seasons at Mississippi State this year, at Georgia in '18 and at Northwestern in '19.) What's going to happen now when P5s are mandated to play another P5 that week instead ... and perhaps a very good one, under whatever new scheduling formula they use?
Like I said, it certainly still could happen, but it's going to have to force P5 programs to completely change their approach to things and become more "NFL-like". They won't necessarily be in control of their own finances any more. Is that a good thing or bad?
Agreed. Probably a good chance Cristobal or Leavitt get head coaching offers sooner than later but they have been awesome. I didn't see any of the Pac 12 media coverage. From what I am hearing Helfrich lost control of the team and none of the players cared or respected him. I really like what I have hearing about Taggart.HIs assistant coach hires were genius. Cristobal and Leavitt have been $$$$$.
Did you catch any of the Pac-12 media day? Interview with Taggert from our local sports radio guys were well worth listening to. He's done a lot to change the culture since he got there. To paraphrase, he got there and saw all these amazing facilities with one huge problem - nobody was in them. Team wasn't eating together or doing anything together. He's changed that considerably and has a big dinner Thursday night with the team, coaches and their families. Says it helps personalize the relationship between players and coaches to have the wives and kids there eating together. I'm sure a lot of that is fluff, but I'm sensing a real change from last year to now from the players, coaches, media, writers, etc. Pretty excited for the season to start.
Don't forget that Alamodome vs TCU. That one still makes my blood boil.Agreed. Probably a good chance Cristobal or Leavitt get head coaching offers sooner than later but they have been awesome. Last year may have been a blessing in disguise to rid ourselves of Helfrich. His coaching decisions alone cost the Ducks at least 2 games last year (Nebraska, Colorado). I am excited to see them compete this year. Future looks very good.
Well, that was the year before but yes thank you for reminding me. Puke. I had a good buddy who went to the Alamo Bowl and he said he sat in disbelief a full half hour after the game was over.Don't forget that Alamodome vs TCU. That one still makes my blood boil.
he was going to be really, really good this year tooWisconsin loses ILB Jack Cichy for the year with a torn ACL. That's a tough loss.
