The rule says nothing about the initial point of contact:

"No player shall target and make forcible contact to the head or neck area of a defenseless opponent with the helmet, forearm, hand, fist, elbow or shoulder. "

Hitting a defenseless player in the head is targeting using any part of your body, including the shoulder.

Its bang bang, but that helmet directly hits the defenders helmet.   If he's leading with the shoulder, it was by a fraction.    He definitely needs to get his head down if he wants to avoid that penalty.

Truth, but if a game goes into the 4th quarter being tied 3 -3 the offenses don't get the same criticism.

Defender gets his head down and he is at risk of knocking himself out.

That's why I don't think the player should be ejected for it. It should be penalized, but I think the ejection should be for obvious intent. I don't think intent was obvious there.

What hurt Oklahoma most today was Ohio State getting thumped by Iowa. Makes their win over Ohio State less impressive. Add Penn State losing to Michigan State and now last weeks Ohio State/Penn State game was simply two overrated teams playing. It's laughable now that at one time this year three Big 10 teams were ranked in the top 6.

They look at who you beat more than who you lost to. I can see OU jumping them with a win over a good opponent today, but Clemson beat an ok team as well.
