Army was 0-for-2 passing (both in the second half) last Thursday against Fordham.
That's what's so frustrating - Johnson can't get the recruits. Understandable, but I'd love to see what he could do with some elite talent.Nebraska should go back to this offense. They get better recruits. Why go 7-5 in a prostyle offense every year?
But this offense is really about smart disciplined recruits. It's about people knowing exactly where everyone else is and no free styling.Nebraska should go back to this offense. They get better recruits. Why go 7-5 in a prostyle offense every year?
True. I get that. But it worked before, obviously different eras. But this offense is really about smart disciplined recruits. It's about people knowing exactly where everyone else is and no free styling.
And Nebraska could get some great O-lineman and shove people around.True. I get that. But it worked before, obviously different eras.
I just don't see the point in them being the 45th-best passing offense nationally.
Those were the early years when he inherited Demaryius Thomas with Dwyer/Nesbitt (and had Burnett and Morgan on D too). Even with Stephen Hill and Darren Waller they were able to throw more deep one on one plays that felt like they had a better chance to hit. I would take a big elite WR over getting a top back given the choice. But honestly this offense is all based on having a good QB.That's what's so frustrating - Johnson can't get the recruits. NoWhat is the best way to defend against this offense? Does it work against great defenses like Alabama and Florida State?
Alabama? Hell no their DL would eat our OL up. We've competed well against FSU in recent years though. The teams that usually whip us having dominate DL that break up the option in the backfield. What is the best way to defend against this offense? Agree - the QB is the man in this offense. Everybody else just has to play hard and block. Those were the early years when he inherited Demaryius Thomas with Dwyer/Nesbitt (and had Burnett and Morgan on D too). Oklahoma and Nebraska had pretty good records in big games. What is the best way to defend against this offense? Does it work against great defenses like Alabama and Florida State?
So initial blocking is the key? Would it make sense to blitz then?Alabama? Hell no their DL would eat our OL up. We've competed well against FSU in recent years though. The teams that usually whip us having dominate DL that break up the option in the backfield.
Les Miles tweet a few minutes ago,...So initial blocking is the key? Would it make sense to blitz then?
Nobody runs the wishbone anymore, so I thought that defenses had figured it out.Oklahoma and Nebraska had pretty good records in big games.
Big quick interior lineman and good safeties. What is the best way to defend against this offense? Does it work against great defenses like Alabama and Florida State?
Yes, it's stupid not to if you are getting picked apart like this. D Coordinators hate to do it because it can backfire and make you look silly against this offense if they pitch it and go 80 yards. But, if you get penetration you can really mess up the timing and it's very easy to cause a bad pitch. So initial blocking is the key? Would it make sense to blitz then?
I wanted him to go for it - the illegal block (as it always does) killed us.Harrison Butker ain't walking through that door, coach
FWIW, Georgia Tech runs the flexbone. It is derived from the wishbone.Nobody runs the wishbone anymore, so I thought that defenses had figured it out.
UMass did this very thing against Georgia Southern in the '98 1-AA championship game when Johnson was the coach there. Don Brown (now Michigan's DC) was the D coordinator and of course he's very aggressive with his blitzes. In fact, there was one particular play in which they got so much penetration that the linebacker actually deflected the pitch with his hand and recovered the fumble.Yes, it's stupid not to if you are getting picked apart like this. That's where they keep their quarterbacks. What the he'll is with the trash can on the Tennessee sideline?
That was one of my favorite rivalry games growing up, and they rarely even play each other anymore. I hate that. And just another comment about OU's wishbone. Nebraska devoted some time to it every week during practice, and still couldn't stop it most of the time.
I think a few seasons at least. How long has GT been playing "Game of Thrones" as a theme song? Very cool.
Because it sucks and is annoying. HTHHow can you not like Rocky Top?
Yeah, but Damone told them to play something from Led Zeppelin IVKashmir is cool as well.
Staying in your assignment is also key. If you are on the pitch guy, don't get sucked in by the QB. Everyone just needs to do their jobBig quick interior lineman and good safeties.

I don't think he wants to give GT the ball back. So playing for OT?Surprised Tennessee is running it slow here - no room for error
WTF is that? I mean I want to not make fun of the South but that trashcan makes it really ####### hard.Waiting until a player blows a knee out going for the dunk. Dumber things have happened.
Got him by the hair - I think that is legalCan't believe no horse collar.
Didn't look like he grabbed the collar. Can't believe no horse collar.
