2017 College Football Thread: Hawaiian QB devastated to find out Jesus was "kinda rooting for Georgia" (1 Viewer)

If UF is really making a move I’m impressed with their decisiveness and execution...schools almost always drag it out and screw it up.

There are a lot of Cats running on the field in that clip
It was after a kick.  The offense was coming onto the field.  The Tennessee D was coming on the field too, but they were farther from the play.  In any case, I'm not saying there shouldn't have been penalties. I'm just saying it was odd to call it on every damn player on both teams. Now any unsportsmanlike penalty is an ejection...for either team.  UT lost one of their best defenders for a small shove and a flop on the last kick of the first half....

a win is a win, right?
umm...sure.

sadly, UK had to take a timeout on the play because they didn't have anybody lined up to cover the wr on the near side -- after losing to florida doing the same thing twice. Then UT had as many people with a chance to catch the ball as UK did...

But, it's 6 wins and a bowl game for the second year in a row

Just want to remind everybody that Penn state was 40 yards from field goal range at the end of the first half with 35 seconds left and they took a knee. Scared coaches deserve to lose.
If anyone's left still wondering how PSU lost that game, it was situations like this.  Where they were balls to the wall last week, the coaching staff found a hole and crawled in it this week.

It wasn't the coaching staff.

This is why Penn State lost: Total Yards: Ohio State 529, Penn State 283.

Even if the PSU coaching staff decided to get a last minute FG at the end of the first half, all that would have done is made it 41 to 33, instead of 38 to 33, when OSU scored its second to last touchdown. That means they would have gone for the extra point instead of going for 2, making it 41 to 34. Then when they scored their last touchdown it would have made it 41 to 40. They would have gone for the extra point instead of going for 2 and take it in to overtime. Why? Because Penn State was exhausted while Ohio State was riding high on adrenaline. Throughout the 4th quarter the OSU defensive line was slicing through the PSU offensive line like butter. McSorely and Barkley were frequently running for their lives a second after every snap. Whereas the OSU offensive line was giving Barrett tons of time to sit in the pocket. Overtime against OSU at home with the crowd rocking and PSU exhausted is all PSU would have gained from a last minute 1st half FG.

These are the "experts" on ESPN talking CFB    Joey Galloway who picked Baylor to win the BIG 12, and Jesse Palmer who said that OSU would beat Oklahoma by 2 tds if they played today in Norman.     Guess they gotta pull that ####take talk to get the ratings.

More ESPN layoffs rumored to be coming in November. Sounds like they're desperate.

If Jemele keeps her job that would be crazy
If OU and OSU win out, and the playoff comes down to selecting one of them for the 4th and final spot, then it goes to OU without question. These OSU would win if they played now arguments are worthless in regards to the playoffs. OU won, so speculation on what would happen if they played again doesn't matter at all.

That said, I would love to see both teams get in and have a rematch.  :boxing:

UF meeting with Mac now to get a reduced buyout vs firing for cause.
After failing to find any evidence to substantiate claims made by McElwain this week that his family and players received death threats, Florida administrators have worked to see if the coach's allegations were enough to relieve the university from paying his full buyout of $12.76 million if he were to be fired.

What the hell is going on?   Florida must really want him gone NOW!

I don't think Scott Frost will go to Nebraska....i think he prefers the fertile recruiting grounds of Florida and will be the Gators' coach very soon.

I'll never understand this approach.  What benefit is there to you to play the woulda, coulda, shoulda game where you present your predictions as some sort of "fact" that the game would go exactly as you describe?  And exactly no one is/was talking of a single play being the "key" to anything.  This PSU coaching staff crapped the bed the entire second half.  I'm not saying if they would have kept the peddle to the metal that they would have won, but it's clear getting away from what was working didn't do them any favors.

Gruden hasn't been in college football since 1989. Why does anyone think he would have interest in recruiting 16 year olds and battling Saban, when if he ever really wanted to leave the booth, he could get the same money from an NFL team and just watch tape all day?

Because his agent makes sure his name gets out there with every big job so he can keep getting huge contracts from ESPN.

With the Gators finally getting smart and firing that over his head moron, and Dumbo struggling this year at FSU, feels like the end of a good run for the Noles. Sucks.

Cc: @PlasmaDogPlasma weren't you always defending Mac? How could you let a Nole like me be so right about your boob of a coach?

If I recall all of his nfl success was with veteran QBs.  Like rich gannon and brad Johnson old.  He’s gonna go insane teaching some 19 year old his crazy playbook

Gruden hasn't coached in 9 years.   If he had an itch to scratch, he would've done so.    6.5M to do what he's doing.   He ain't going anywhere.

Now you're saying the coaching staff crapped the bed the second half, yet the only example given of their bad coaching is a 1st half decision.  :oldunsure:

Can you give any examples of bad coaching in the second half?

What I saw in the 2nd half was nearly every time they used their heisman candidate (Barkley) he would get tackled for a loss. And nearly every time they used McSorely he was getting chased into a poor throw. Those are the same two players they used when it was "working" in the 1st half. It didn't look like different plays to me. It just look liked OSU was winning the plays in the 2nd half. It wasn't coaching.

Plus he'd have to give up all those cushy Corona ads - wonder what he pulls down for those? He ain't going anywhere, certainly not a rebuild job at a school where you are fighting every year to be second best in the conference.

Right. If he ever went anywhere it would be to a young NFL team with a Wentz, Winston, Mariotta type QB.
