2017 College Football Thread: Hawaiian QB devastated to find out Jesus was "kinda rooting for Georgia" (2 Viewers)

Some of you Wisconsin honks can feel free to jump in here and defend your school at any time...or maybe you just do suck and I should shut up.
They really aren't very good, although the defense will probably keep them in the game against most teams.  Iowa's offense didn't score today (2 pic-6's were their only scores), after scoring 7 touchdowns against Ohio St. last week.

The last three seasons, Wisconsin opened with LSU, Alabama, LSU. Lost all three games, although both LSU games were close.  This year they opened with Utah St., won 59-10. What's the lesson here if you're the Wisconsin AD?

I'm hoping playing a college sport is fun for them as well.  I really doubt it would be some big burden on them if a dozen more teams had to play a few extra games.
Sure it is fun, but so would be having more free time to be a college student. Also, it's fun until you blow your knee out or it's fun until you are 50 and having football related health issues. All I am saying is playing football at that level is a major sacrifice and puts an incredible demand on one's body. We shouldn't be so flippant about asking the players to play more games when the only benefit will be our personal entertainment and the schools bank accounts.

Bigger, stronger, faster=  more force which is more likely to cause injuries, wear on joints, etc. Pro football will pay them a lot of money to irreparably damage their bodies.

What is the value of a Dl diploma over a person’s life, not to mention the cost of acquiring it which is paid for?

You okay with being wrong?  Check last year’s LSU score.  And what does that have to do with this year’s team?

I'm here to be entertained.  Whatever arraignment they need to make to compensate the players for these extra games, I'm fine with.

Jesse Jackson, is that you?  Yes, they are being forced to play.  Emancipation my ***

I like being entertained too, but this is 2017- entertainment is endless (even politics has turned into entertainment). I would never expect young adults to put themselves at more risk for no extra compensation.

Is the part of my response that says I'm for compensation getting filtered out???   This is twice now.  I might have a virus on my machine

He did call profesdional athletes slaves.  That clearly implies that they have no free will to choose whether they will or will not participate.
I am not calling them slaves- they are choosing to play football. However, the season is already longer than it was 30-40 years ago and it requires even more commitment, sacrifice, etc. I do think we should consider them as people and not just means for entertainment. If we keep adding game and adding requirements, maybe they should get something more in return.

So drunk (drunk is it was a miracle I could walk to my Uber pickup) but so happy that The U put a beatdown on the Irish.

Got my seats from an Irish backer and sat in the ND student section.  Eff them  Richt killed Kelly

So you just continue to dodge with derision rather than answer the question.  No surprise.  It is your MO.

.
Dodge what? I said it's an idiotic opinion to even suggest a scholarship is enough. Do you want it in crayon?

Given the chance the play in a playoff, the players would take it in a heartbeat.

Just change one word of the song, and it applies to football players:

The ball is tipped kicked
and there you are
you’re running for your life
you’re a shooting star
And all the years
no one knows
just how hard you worked
but now it shows…
(in) ONE SHINING MOMENT, IT’S ALL ON THE LINE
ONE SHINING MOMENT, THERE FROZEN IN TIME

But time is short
and the road is long
in the blinking of an eye
ah that moment’s gone
And when it’s done
win or lose
you always did your best
cuz inside you knew…
(that) ONE SHINING MOMENT, YOU REACHED DEEP INSIDE
ONE SHINING MOMENT, YOU KNEW YOU WERE ALIVE

Feel the beat of your heart
feel the wind in your face
it’s more than a contest
it’s more than a race…

And when it’s done
win or lose
you always did your best
cuz inside you knew…
(that) ONE SHINING MOMENT, YOU REACHED FOR THE SKY
ONE SHINING MOMENT, YOU KNEW
ONE SHINING MOMENT, YOU WERE WILLING TO TRY
ONE SHINING MOMENT….

You okay with being wrong?  Check last year’s LSU score.  And what does that have to do with this year’s team?
I'm just saying, they have scheduled stronger non-conf games the past few years. This season, they went back to their old ways of nothing but cupcakes, and then ended up with a weak conference schedule just by chance. So this is the bed they made. The Badgers don't have a schedule that's going to put them above a 1 loss team from a power conference. Its true they've done everything they can given the schedule, but also true Iowa at home today was the toughest opponent they've played. I know they've got Notre Dame on the schedule in a few years, but until then, the fact is they will have this issue every year.

Wtf the is going on in here? Wtf are you guys talking about? After a day that reshaped the landscape, I logged in to see what everyone was thinking about the upcoming rankings... This is terrrrrible in here!

Revised 4, I've been wrong about Miami and Georgia and now need to shift:

Bama

Miami / Clemson winner

Oklahoma

Wisconsin

Don't think there is much room for interpretation here, these teams all control their fate.

Bama played tighter than expected, but won a hard fought game in a tough environment. I still have them as the best, but wow Miami, real impressive.

*yawn* *stretch* Oh, you guys talking Wisconsin? That's mighty kind of you. It happens every 6 years or so but I'll take it. Not gonna lie it feels dirty having the Oregon honk defend us. He's got a point, but so does the committee. Run the table, they're in. Lose, even on a last second 98 yard FG to tOSU in the B1GCC? Out. Regardless, they're not in today.

See what I did there? Honk? Ducks? lol

BYU was a perennial 10 win team when they were scheduled. How about that Mercer game for Bama next weekend? Talk about crazy OOCS. Hope those reserve 4* can recover. Bucky is doing it with mostly 3*.

Whatevs. Bucky is making an attempt to schedule at least one decent team per year. As you said, LSU, Bama, LSU neutral games the past 3 yeas (perhaps a semi-respectable 1-2 record in those games). There's the true home and home with a historically decent BYU (nobody goes to Provo for good reason, but I digress), Va Tech home and home coming up. ND at Lambeau and Soldier Field. Home and home with Clemson beating curbstomping powerhouse Syracuse too. UCLA home and home in like 2030 (yeah even I'll lol at that being kids that are in like 3rd grade right now).

Can't play the #1 team OOC every year. Try to schedule teams you think will be good and hope your division isn't a pile of poop and just beat the teams in front of you. Maybe the dumb B1G cross schedule will give you a few of tOSU, PSU, Mich, MSU. Maybe Nebraska will be good lol. Maybe PJ "the used carsalesman Fleck" will turn around Minny lol.

Today you give up 4 turnovers, including 2 pick sixes against the team that spray farted on tOSU's face and then peed on their mom and said "Hey by the way your dad is blowing the mailmen" and you still won 38-14? Not very impressive but damn, kind of.

Seriously let's go through Bama's schedule to date

FSU? Oooooh. Sorry Cappy but poop. If Bucky gets dinged for BYU so does Bama
Fresno State? Poop
Colorado State? Poop
Vandy? lol poop
Ole Miss? poop
A&M? mostly poop....but yeah actually poop
Arkansas? Bielema is a fantastic coach. Well, his wife is hot. But POOOOOP
Tenn? I can't even finish typing their name. Poop
LSU? Bucky got Les Miles fired last year. Poop
MSU? Oh they finally played someone ranked. Kinda like Bucky. And they struggled to win. Kinda like Bucky. Oh wait. POOP
Mercer? You go #### yourself committee if they don't drop at least one spot just for this garbage in November.

I looked for my post but couldn't find it, the PAC 12 just isn't that good this year.  I stated that every team would have at least 2 losses.  Hopefully Oregon and USC get back to being elite to make the conference interesting.

People care less about the entire Pac 12 than they do Wisconsin. Let that sink in.

Wisconsin is having a great year, congrats.  Oregon has a great recruiting class coming in but the jury is out if Taggart can actually coach.   I think he needs to hire a good offensive coordinator this offseason.

Oregon was looking at 8-9 wins this year before Herbert got hurt.  The future looks bright.  Good luck against OSU!

Lol at comparing scheduling FSU to BYU. Please get real.

That's what you pick out about the tough Bama schedule? Ok fine. FSU might beat BYU like 27-24.

Private to all but Cappy: Shhh. Go with me on this Cappy. I'm trying to defend Wisconsin here. We only get to do this once a decade or every 3rd coaching change. It's what we do.

Lol

my point was scheduling BYU is fine but historically it's not the same as scheduling FSU. But both are trash this year.

And my point is, that matters how? BYU is poop. FSU is poop. Neither is a good win. Alabama is top 4 because this was perceived in August as a good win. Today, it's not. But they're not penalized and Wisconsin is.

I get it. That's the system. I don't think Wisconsin is a top 4 team. But if they win out (a huge caveat, I understand) at the end of the season they can easily be compared to Alabama SOSwise. I mean come on. Mercer. In November.

BOIS 45 52

1:41Brett Rypien passed to Sean Modster down the middle for 13 yard touchdown (Haden Hoggarth made PAT)BOIS

52 52

0:57Brett Rypien passed to Jake Roh to the left for 6 yard touchdown (Haden Hoggarth made PAT)

Overtime

BOIS

59 52    0:00Alexander Mattison rushed up the middle for 4 yard touchdown (Haden Hoggarth made PAT)

OOC schedule might end up being comparable but Wisconsin is being hurt by their in-conference schedule. UM and OSU in a few weeks should help that.

Oh. In conference schedule. Ok yeah Wisconsin's is bad.

SoS for Bama about 30 higher right now. Think it was 65 vs 92 before this week.
