2017 College Football Thread: Hawaiian QB devastated to find out Jesus was "kinda rooting for Georgia" (1 Viewer)

Hope the little one is treating you well. I had our 2mo for about 8 hours without mom for the first time. Along with our 5yo and 2yo. I'd put that up against any SOS in the country. Except @General Malaise
Hahaha. Thanks! Everything is great so far. I don't know how people with more than one kid do it. I just assume everybody is on cocaine.

Dlll schools have played 10 games already. How about the big boys? And they (Dl guys) are also bigger, stronger, and faster - just like their opponents.
Do you understand that it is a collision sport?

I'm on Sunday morning of an entire weekend with a 10 year old that has stomach pains (coming and going) a 5 year old and an 8 month old first time without mom who breast feeds as a soothing mechanism.  Wait....this is Sunday right?  Hold on....where the hell am I?   :hangover:

ND’s last six trips to Miami:

1981 37-15
1983 20-0
1985 58-7
1987 24-0
1989 27-10
2017 41-8

That doesn’t include the 2013 title game as I’ve removed it from memory but speaks to maybe we should have seen this coming.

This is a reminder that as awesome as the turnover chain is, Butch Jones had a similar idea for motivation, and chose a garbage can.

Alabama (more 5 stars than most college conferences)

Oklahoma (Homer but they look ####### good right now)

Clemson (Dabo does the electric slide)

Miami (Turnover CHAIN!)

Wisconsin

Auburn

Georgia

Ohio State (they just won't die!)

Georgia

USC (PAC)

How many players from this year's Irish team were on any of the teams that suffered those prior losses in Miami?

I know that past performance stretching back decades is a ridiculous metric for college football but.....it may point out a problem with young players from Indiana struggling with humidity in South Florida.  Tubberrville pointed that out, of all people.

The same point can be made in reverse too. Miami has beaten ND once at ND. All of the above games have happened in November (except 1) where you’d expect temperatures to be pretty disparate.

Could also just speak to the home advantage each side has over one another, but seeing that big of score differences in ND traveling to Miami sticks out; the reasons debatable.

*yawn* *stretch* Oh, you guys talking Wisconsin? That's mighty kind of you. It happens every 6 years or so but I'll take it. Not gonna lie it feels dirty having the Oregon honk defend us. He's got a point, but so does the committee. Run the table, they're in. Lose, even on a last second 98 yard FG to tOSU in the B1GCC? Out. Regardless, they're not in today.

See what I did there? Honk? Ducks? lol

BYU was a perennial 10 win team when they were scheduled. How about that Mercer game for Bama next weekend? Talk about crazy OOCS. Hope those reserve 4* can recover. Bucky is doing it with mostly 3*.

Whatevs. Bucky is making an attempt to schedule at least one decent team per year. As you said, LSU, Bama, LSU neutral games the past 3 yeas (perhaps a semi-respectable 1-2 record in those games). There's the true home and home with a historically decent BYU (nobody goes to Provo for good reason, but I digress), Va Tech home and home coming up. ND at Lambeau and Soldier Field. Home and home with Clemson beating curbstomping powerhouse Syracuse too. UCLA home and home in like 2030 (yeah even I'll lol at that being kids that are in like 3rd grade right now).

Can't play the #1 team OOC every year. Try to schedule teams you think will be good and hope your division isn't a pile of poop and just beat the teams in front of you. Maybe the dumb B1G cross schedule will give you a few of tOSU, PSU, Mich, MSU. Maybe Nebraska will be good lol. Maybe PJ "the used carsalesman Fleck" will turn around Minny lol.

Today you give up 4 turnovers, including 2 pick sixes against the team that spray farted on tOSU's face and then peed on their mom and said "Hey by the way your dad is blowing the mailmen" and you still won 38-14? Not very impressive but damn, kind of.
I thought the way the Big10 split up the teams was dumb and horrible lopsided.  Why did they value "rivalry" matchups over divisions of roughly even strength?

Seeing Wisconsin people defend BYU is kinda funny. “They used to be win 10 games.”  Who cares -scheduling BYU is trying to back into a good team.  All of the other teams didn’t have a hard time finding a decent OoC game to play. The only team who sort of got screwed in that regard I guess is Bama since FSU is down, but that’s partially Bama’s fault anyway.  I can give you 40 teams that carry more weight than beating BYU in any given year.  Beating a trash UF team means more than beating BYU.

Aren't OCC schedules made well in advance?  Isn't it possible that newly independent BYU was looking for good dance partners back when they were a good team and Wisconsin saw that as a good matchup at the time?  Nobody has a crystal ball and there isn't anybody who predicted BYU to lose almost every game this year.

I agree this looks bad for Wisconsin now but hindsight isn't a gift we get in reverse.  Just like Bama beating a crappy FSU team now looks unimpressive.  At least Wisconsin isn't playing Mercer next week.  That's garbage.

When they divided them up (the second time) they made them lopsided because all the conferences were that way and there were only TWO spots in the BCS championship so they didn't want their two best teams facing off in the conference title game knocking each other out of the opportunity to go to the BCS.  They wanted their two best to battle it out in division and whoever won have the "gimmie" in the CCG.

Ohh.  Mission Accomplished?

Seems to be working    I'm not defending it.  I'm just telling you why they did what they did.  Back then it was "whoever wins between Alabama and LSU" and "whoever wins between Clemson and FSU" for the conferences with with divisions.  The initial "legends" and "leaders" divisions in the B1G were somewhat balanced.  When they added Rutgers and Maryland shortly after, they changed them to what they are today.

The grammar reads a bit like SEC, but the syntax is so bad, I’d say maybe a Deep South ACC education?

I'd like to see a link to someone deciding divisions based on this.

If I am a head coach there is no chance in hell I would hire Brady Hoke as an assistant coach.  Somehow he seems to get his head coach fired wherever he goes.
