2017 College Football Thread: Hawaiian QB devastated to find out Jesus was "kinda rooting for Georgia" (3 Viewers)

He was never any good to begin with. He ran from SF faster than they could fire him. He knew their D carried them and the QB was garbage. As soon as other teams figured out all he could do was run, it was over.
:lmao:

He turned 4 moribund programs around overnight.  His college record is 86-36 and NFL 44-19.  He's one of the greatest head coaches in the game.

Trolls gonna troll.

OMG, Jake Browning just got destroyed trying to convert 4th and long...tried to run for it, lept in the air and got pulverized into a helicopter pattern.

Why can't a school like Washington find a guy who can kick a field goal inside of 30 yards?   So bizarre.

They didn't say a word about willingham calling a timeout to extend the game and then Chris Petersen says #### you we'll throw it twice and kick a field goal, #######.

Also sports center leads off with Baker Mayfield taunting. To me it's no big deal. I mean seriously, the lead story? Just stop.

If I were there Oklahoma coach I would have told the media, that's what you get when you refuse to shake hands at the beginning of the game.

:lmao:  Yeah, keep telling yourself that Andrew Luck was not the reason Stanford was good when he was there and he didn't bolt after Luck was gone. He was jack #### without Luck at Stadford. he's turned nothing around anywhere. He's an opportunist at best.

I thought it was the wind in that goofy stadium.

Guise...guise...especially best coast guys.  Keep an eye on this kid around signing day.

Kazmeir Allen. http://www.maxpreps.com/news/ek_PeiOTuEyJ_keeu5VKXA/uncommitted-3-star-running-back-kazmeir-allen-sets-california-record.htm

Scored more HS TDs than Marcus Allen. O.J. Simpson. Terrell Davis, Marshawn Lynch, Maurice Jones-Drew, and Ricky Williams.

Not the biggest or the fastest but holy Schmidt does he know how to find the end zone.   Ran all over my alma mater Friday.  Buddy of mine that coaches here said “you’ll see a guy like him, statewide,  every 7-8 years maybe”.

Was getting a lot of MWC attention but then the Pac12 started sniffing.

Lead story does seem silly, but it is more than nothing. A lot of Heisman voters are going to try real hard to find a reason to vote for someone else.

Don't forget the gunslinger from Wyoming who hung 7 on mighty Fresno in Larimie tonight.

Pass on Baker Mayfield at your own risk.
Certainly a disappointing game for the home team, but this program is wayyyyy better than it was 5 years ago.  I’ll take it.

Ok, and the other three programs he turned around overnight?  Look at his record, troll.  It's otherworldly.

Stanford was the Vanderbilt of the Pac10 before Harbaugh got there.  He made them relevant.  Those are just the facts.

i don't agree with you, but there's no way in zeus's butthole that I'm going to write a single word defending the king of dbags.

Don't get fished GM   Everybody knows about lod.

So what's holding Harbaugh back at UM?  According to 247, they're 7th nationally in total team talent, 2nd the in the B1G.  Penn State is 3rd at 19th overall.

I know the QB has been his biggest issue.  I'd also say he could spend less time on some low-impact but attention-getting aspects.

And so the Josh Rosen era ends with a loss. (Sure there will be 1 or possibly 2 more games, but in reality it ended last night.)

That’s twice now in my lifetime that my favorite college football team, UCLA, had an elite NFL type quarterback and failed to field a team around him (the other time was Troy Aikman). Very frustrating. No doubt Rosen will go on to great glory and the Bruins will remain mired in mediocrity. Or worse.

And I hate losing to USC.

Really ridiculous. I mean I'd rather the guy hadn't done it but really who cares? He got punked at the coin toss. Cheap shots during game. High emotion game. He was pissed. That's who the guy is. Silly what the media focuses on.

I am not sure if you want an honest answer or this is schtick but Ill go with "you really wanna talk about it"

Injuries- Rudock gets hurt in year 1, Best DT gets hurt right before defense goes into the tank in '15. Year 2 Speight gets hurt in Iowa game and they lose, plays hurt in OSU game and they lose. Year 3 Speight hurt, not Peters hurt. Stuck with O'korn. Not to mention True Sophmore LT nearly loses leg early in season and might never return.

Tough Division- Ohio State obviously is loaded and has a great coach/program. I dont think anyone realistically expected to jump them in year 2. PSU's James Franklin has a 1 yar head start on Harbaugh and I would argue isnt in any better spot. Harbaugh leads him 2-1 and the "opportunistic win" is the only thing that separates PSU at all in that they won the Big Ten. MSU has had a great run with Dantoni as their coach.

Expectations- 10-3 in year 1, 10-3 in year 2, Probably 7 or 8 wins in year 3 and pretty much returning everyone other than Mo Hurst and Mason Cole in '18 seems like he isnt "disappointing".

In Summary, I get it...they havent won the Big Ten or even their Division in 3 years....but I dont think their are fundamental flaws in Ann Arbor. I think they are headed in the right direction and I would argue they havent "won any coinflip games" in 3 years other than the Minnesota game in '15. I can name 5 they have lost though....They need a QB. Everyone needs a QB. They started out without one and havent gotten one in his 3 years. I dont think Peters was the answer and Dylan Mcaffrey doesnt look the part to me. I could be wrong. They arent going to accept any transfers I dont think so unless I am wrong I would expect they have a ceiling of 10/11 wins until they get one...and you generally dont get one as a true freshman.

Harbaugh deserves criticism for lack of QB, but that wont continue forever. Defense should be elite as long as Don Brown is there and from there they should be off. He has has 2 full recruiting classes and a partial going into the '15 season. If he doesnt get it done after 4 cycles then I would say you can say "something is holding him back".

I have a million more thoughts, but those are probably the biggest for now.

@derek245583 Well said, it’s probably a matter of unrealistic expectations and comparisons to Saban and Meyer. But plenty of UM fans are to blame for that, and the media.

Is he being held back?  He took over a program that had gone 8-5, 7-6 and 5-7.  He's gone 10-3, 10-3, and so far 8-3 dealing with QB injuries.  That's pretty damn good.  Some are acting like Michigan is all of a sudden Arkansas.

I agree with you, but at the same time it is Michigan and they haven’t really come close to beating Ohio State, nor winning a division.  It’s their own expectations that aren’t being met.

Just got offered by Wisconsin. Exactly the kind of kid they recruit.

To me that was worse than anything Mayfield did.  Those jokers were asking for it
The cheap shot to the head like 4 seconds after the play had ended was much worse than the handshake thing.  Wasn't the handshake thing just a reaction to something Mayfield had already said?  The cheap shot was taking it way too far though.  A little nut thrust is a pretty tame response to that really.

Ho hum? It's the first ranked team they've beat.
Iowa was ranked. Northwestern is now ranked after rattling off 6 in a row. BYU was ranked 5 years ago.

Tell me again who Bama has beat? I'll hang up and listen. Pretty sure that Mercer win means they could beat the Patriots.

We don't need to do this again. I'm hungover this time, not drunk so I don't have the energy.

That was close. Point remains, 0 wins, 0 division titles.  They haven’t finished above 3rd in their own division yet and appear to have take a step backwards this season.

Michigan isn’t the winningest program of all time, so I understand a little bit of dissatisfaction with the results. The 10 win stuff doesn’t mean much to me anyway... last season 18 of the top 25 teams won 10 or more.

The last time Wisconsin played Ohio St. in the Big 10 Championship game (a few years ago), Ohio St. were 4 point favorites and won the game 59-0.

Assuming nothing crazy happens next weekend, I expect Ohio St. to be about a touchdown favorite when the game kicks off on Dec. 2, possibly -7.5.

The guy made it to the Orange Bowl in year two.  I'm not even sure what point you guys are trying to make.  He has that program in a much better place than it was under Hoke.  He hasn't been bad by any means but no he hasn't won a national championship either.
