2017 College Football Thread: Hawaiian QB devastated to find out Jesus was "kinda rooting for Georgia" (1 Viewer)

Didn't see the game so not sure what they all talked about, or how much you're hearing, but there's a lot of chatter around here that Taggert wants to snipe Jim Leonhard for DC.
Oh yea I've heard that too. Suggestions are FSU would have to move mountains to get him from there.

Lot of smoke about Deion to FSU as DBs coach. #crootin
To be honest with you, this seems like a terrible idea.  The benefit is recruiting, but FSU doesn’t need much help there. On the flip side, do you think Deion is the type to fall in line and take direction from the DC or HC?  That’s one of the strongest personalities around, so I think you’re more likely to see a disgruntled staffer instead of a happy staffer.

Well Georgia is up. Bama and Clemson obviously. Recruiting is tough. Luckily Florida just hired the Sonny's mascot to be their head coach so that helps.

I don't see any way though that Deion sits there and takes orders from somebody he almost assuredly does not respect as a player. This guy is one of the best ever, and his direct boss is going to be at best just another guy in the NFL and at worst never made it. Hard to picture. Also can't see him turning in his 3-piece suits in LA to be wearing sweats in Truckahassee (cc: @General Malaise )

That said, I can't imagine a better closer on the recruiting trail. Would be a grand slam.

Missouri is such a #### program, they are gonna get blasted by the 14th best team in the Big 12.
Normally I'd quibble over this, but I actually have to agree with you. The fact they ended up in a bowl after the ####show they were to start the season is a miracle, and it probably buys Barry Odom at least one more season that he shouldn't have.

Missouri and Nebraska should have stayed in the Big 12.  TAMU can kiss a ####, that whole program is probably gonna get the death penalty at some point for their surreptitious fake army recruiting.  Maybe Dumbo Fischer will get them back to 9-3 seasons, but I doubt it.

I'm still fine with Mizzou being in the SEC...it's their own damn fault their football and basketball program went down the crapper the last couple years, along with the general culture on campus. I've kind of soured on them to the point where I support *gulp* Notre Dame more than them (though ND does pay me to let me be a public address announcer for their soccer program...all Mizzou ever gave me was heartburn).

Definitely agree Nebraska should have stayed, though. There is an entire generation of kids that have no idea the terror Nebraska used to be on the gridiron.

N3brask$ used to be a top 10 program, now they can't recruit in Texas like they used to and they are just West Iowa.  @Arsenal of Doom

Oh but the grant money is better.  :lmao: I hope they never go to a bowl again, disgusting.  The program built by fellow Michigander Bob Devaney is officially irrelevant, it's really sad.

Not shtick, Jeff Brohm is a legit bigtime CFB coach.  Purdue not the worst spot but I can see him upgrading at some point, guy understands offense.

Well we know Wisconsin to Arkansas is a demotion, even for the guy your user name is named after (Bielema).
No idea what this means. Going to assume you’re drunk.
Not drunk at all, it's Wednesday butthole.

Let me break it down for like you're Big Fart Hick 29

-Your user name is fat drunk and stupid

-Bielema left a perfect situation in Wisconsin to go to the SEC.  The SEC these days is Alabama, and the rest.  Sometimes Auburn beats Bama but then Bama gets into the playoffs anyway.  Bielema was about as close to the playoffs at Arkansas as Newman was close at nailing Elaine in Seinfeld.  He's a dumb, lumbering, ###### who happens to be fat, drunk, and stupid.

Glad I could break down some colloquial English for you here.  In your next lesson we'll discuss how Nebraska thinks they are the Princeton of the Midwest but really they're just a more expensive Kansas State.  Take care now.

You have a weird obsession with bringing your pet name for me up.  I wasn’t involved in this conversation and I don’t bother addressing you, but there you go.  Do you want to #### me or something?  All of this just because I thought Joe Mixon was a POS two years ago?

I would say get a life, but... well...  86k posts speaks for itself. I suppose that isn’t happening.

I've been around since 2001 Copernicus.  I'd ask you to do the math on all of that, like posts per day, but you probably barely got through middle school.  So I won't put that pressure on you, Bubba.  :bye:

I think Georgia is the most complete team in the playoffs.  If OU's defense can adjust fire they can possibly cause trouble, but UGa has a lot of premier talent on both sides of the ball to get the "good rolls" in this game.  Mayfield is the best player and if he's on and UGa is slow to react, OU will win,  But UGa's D is was better than OU's D and OU is gonna have to control the ball more in this game than they have in other games this year.

I say OU 30 UGa 27 in a barn-burner but I am not all that confident.  These last four teams all have their superior output, they all deserve to be here.  This is a one score game, hopefully the Sooners come out on top.  glllll to UGa fans and I'm hoping for a great game.

It’s so cold here today. Navy playing at home means a good crowd but this is why you play crappy bowl games in warm weather cities.

I'm not sure I'd point the finger at Texas recruiting/Big 12 exit for their issues. They sucked with Callahan in the Big 12, were generally decent but couldn't get over the top in either the Big 12 or Big Ten with Pelini, and went back to sucking under Riley.

Riley shifted the emphasis in recruiting back to California and Florida, and I'd expect that to stay similar with Frost particularly since he's bringing several of the UCF coaches over. Because of the lack of a real home recruiting base they need to be able to recruit nationally, and I think there is some danger given that Nebraska hasn't really been relevant during the lifetime of kids being recruited today. The good news is Frost is a young coach who obviously has a direct tie to the last time Nebraska was a dominant team. It's obviously a stretch to think he's going to be Osborne 2.0, or come close to repeating what UCF did playing a B1G schedule but he's definitely the right guy at the right time.

Didn't Nebraska also have a fence around their state so to the extent there ever was a big beefy corn fed lineman in state, he was signed sealed and delivered to the Cornhuskers from birth?  Or have they always lived and died by recruiting out of state?

They have historically had more in-state linemen than skill players - there are notable exceptions like Ahman Green, Eric Crouch, Scott Frost, etc., but you are right in the 80s and 90s they had more in-state linemen be successful than they have in the 2000s.

I think there are a couple of things at play there. Nebraska had a huge lead in Strength and Conditioning in the 80s that probably carried over into the early 90s a bit. I also don't think it's a coincidence that the coaches who really failed both tried to install a West Coast/Pro-style offense vs. the run-focused/option offenses. Not sure if it's a reflection of straight drop-back passing exposing marginal athleticism or just a general failure of player development, which seems to be a significant issue for the last 5-6 years.
