2017 White Sox: BEEF! (1 Viewer)

Pretty devastated that I wasn't able to get to Sox Park on Saturday for one of those Hawk Harrelson Alarm clocks. Hope I can get one on the secondary market.

Sorry. I'm a 'what have you done for me lately' kind of guy.

Speaking of lately, how much is Sanchez making per start in Toledo?

Shields has never been better than Verlander, ever.  Shields had a negative WAR in 2015 after the trade, and JV is going to the HOF.

Dumb comparison, I'm sure you can do better.

Sanchez and Shields are pretty much the same guy since 2012, that should have been you original comparison.

You're going to complain about me comparing V to Shields, but why are you bringing up Shields and what they traded for him in the first place? Sure, I hated the deal because I hate him as a player, but am I supposed to be losing sleep over the fact that Erik Johnson and Tatis Jr aren't part of this organization still?

Maybe you should do better yourself before asking it of others.

Tatis Jr might actually be pretty good.

Also I didn't call Gildo into this thread so I do earn a few points for that. ?

Bud Selig attempted to move the inept Sux to Milwaukee in the early 1970s amid low attendance and finishing fifth every year, but this was blocked by the American League and then Bill Veeck saved the franchise with Disco Demolition Night, a banner accomplishment for the Browns of baseball.

And then they built the "new Comiskey."

As originally built, the park was criticized by many fans because of the height of the upper deck. The original architect, HOK Sport (now Populous), wanted to eliminate the overhang problems present in many stadiums built since the 1970s. With this in mind, the upper deck was set back over the lower deck, and the stands rose fairly gradually. While it gave nearly every seat in the upper level an unobstructed view of the field, it also created one of the highest upper decks in baseball. The first row of seats in the upper deck at the new stadium is as far from the field as the highest row of seats in the upper deck at the old stadium. Fans sitting in this area didn't get much chance for relief, as it is one of the few parks in Major League Baseball that do not allow fans sitting in the upper deck to venture anywhere else in the park, e.g. lower deck concourse.
Sux gonna Suck, their new stadium was outdated the day it opened.  Despite recent upgrades it still rates among the worst stadiums in baseball, often compared with Tropicana Field and the A's Stadium which forced the Raiders to move to Las Vegas.

The White Sox have been in the bottom third of attendance every year since 2011, and bottom five in each of the past four years.

Pretty much a given that he wouldn't have the mental capacity to throw a good game tonight.
He got through five, barely.

Will be interesting to see what he does in high pressure situations in September/October.  Once the calendar turns to October I won't be rooting for him on that team.

Hawk hanging it up next year: http://chicago.suntimes.com/sports/sox-icon-hawk-harrelson-will-retire-from-booth-after-2018-season/amp/

I will always have fond memories of watching a Sox pre-game show with the two fashion icons, Hawk and Don Drysdale. The turquoise colored shirts open to the navel, gold chains around the neck, pinkie rings on each hand, white belts and white shoes. Stylish.

All-time best shtick is Hawk's unending hatred of any kind of sabermetrics, even though it has been pointed out to him repeatedly that if such evaluations had existed in his day, he would have been thought of as a much better player, and thus played longer and made more money.

Second is firing Tony LaRussa.

Good buddy of mine said this:

Just rode down the elevator with Hawk Harrelson. He left the elevator before me. The doors closed. I said, "He gone."
:lmao:

If you knew him you'd know this was so true, I'd have said it halfway down and got in a fight because I'm a ########.
