2018-19 NBA Thread: Magic Johnson leaves Lakers in order to pursue other jobs to be completely terrible at (3 Viewers)

Great great news for the Lakers. No they will not win a championship in 2019, but they will probably win 50 games and compete in the playoffs. Come 2020 all bets are off.

With the sole exception of the New York Yankees, the Lakers are the most amazing franchise in American sports history. What’s remarkable is that for the last 70 years they have been consistently relevant with only a few 3-4 year stretches during that time of mediocre or bad teams. This last stretch, since the end of Kobe, has been one of the worst, worse than the retirement of Jerry West and Wilt, worse than the end of Magic and Kareem.

And now it’s officially over. As Kobe says, Jeanie Buss is the Mother Of Dragons.
And the closest parallel to this in NFL is the football team you root for.  Lucky bastards.

funny that Paul George wanted to play for LA to be near his home, then when Lebron might go there he all of a sudden chooses to play in OKC with Westbrook. Good for Rus and the George

Anyhow:

Ball

Ingram

Randle

Kuzma

Ball is not a great fit for LeBron. (With his jerk dad he may not be a great fit for anybody.) But Ball wants the ball in his hands and so does LeBron. I think they should look to trade Ball.
LeBron needs someone else to handle the ball, they just don't need to take a lot of stupid shots

Will be interesting to see if they retain Randle.  Probably not with his usage this year.

Tim there’s a crisis in the political forum, why don’t you head back over there man
You know, it’s been a while since I’ve been able to happily talk about So Cal sports, think I’ll stick for a while.

With Mike Trout and LeBron James, I get the two best players currently in sports.

If Cleveland goes for a total rebuild, Kevin Love would sure look nice in a Bulls uniform. Lauri Markkanen managed 15 ppg with barely any floor spacing from his teammates. Love would help that out immensely.

You might want to tell JR smith he's not going with LeBron then. He's probably packing his bags already thinking he's gonna be a big OG out there right now.

Trout has been yearning to come to Philly his whole career. Enjoy it for the next few months before they finally allow him to be free

no way. I want Lebron to put up a fight, bring JR, Love and anybody from Cleveland to LA

Reporting news make you a nut hugger?
Chris Broussard was a huge LeBron fan for ESPN back in the day. Dude wouldn't stop talking about him and how good he was. Over the past few yrs he's stopped nut hugging him and since joining Fs1 in the last few months is now hoping on the Simmons Train.

Hasn't Windy been on him since high school.
Chris Broussard was the most frequent guy I remember. Dude could never say a bad thing about LeBron. I get to watch some TV at work but watching FS1 over the past few months with The Herd on Broussard and Colin have both went from hugging Lebron's nuts to not going all the way down on Ben Simmons over that time peril. I don't remember Windhorst being all over LeBron as CB had been. Broussard use to brag how he talked to Lebron all the time

Enjoy Trout while he last because in 2 or so yrs he's coming back home to Philly

Absolutely true. But doesn’t it seem rather cliche to point it out? It’s the oldest sour grapes argument there is.
Sour grapes? You just look ridiculous running your yap and jumping back in here after 6 years because Lebron signed there.

I dont think Windy went national until he went to Miami. I was new to Cleveland when that happened and it was 8 years ago, so I may not remember right either.

Yeah Windy didn't go national until the MIA days. Broussard was very frequent with LeBron from his rookie year in Cleveland all through the Cleveland yrs. In the last few yrs husking of low keyed it on the LeBron love.

Also I never believed anything on LeBron back then till I saw Broussard report it because it was usually 99.9% right.

Broussard went to HS and college in the Cleveland area then started out reporting in Cleveland.  He seemed to have some inside info at times during Lebron's first tenure.  Not sure about his personal relationship with Lebron, but I'm sure he had some inroads to that circle.  I don't recall Broussard ever saying anything relevant about Lebron after he left for Miami until he returned.

Windy was still the main source pre-Miami though and obviously post.

Broussard is a tool, but I am pretty sure he is not the only reporter in the last x-number of years to talk about LBJ a lot and about how good he is.

Is anyone surprised?

Start spreading the news...I want to be a part of it, New York,New York! Very excited to be joining the Knicks and play for coach Fizdale! A dream come true!! #betterhairdaysareahead

I thought Jordan GM vs. LeBron GM was a close race. I was wrong about that. Jordan is playing checkers, LeBron is playing 3d chess.

Orlando RFA Aaron Gordon has agreed to a four-year, $84 million deal to re-sign with the Magic, league sources tell Yahoo.

Sources: Free agent center Nerlens Noel has narrowed decision on signing to these teams: The Wizards, Lakers, Thunder --- with interest from the Pelicans.

More

Breaking: Free agent Lance Stephenson has agreed to join the Los Angeles Lakers, league sources tell @ChrisBHaynes.
If this is serious then HFS what a day in the NBA. Lance, LeBron and Lavar all in the same building. I mean what could go wrong.
