2018 College Football Thread: Local man buys some teenage champions a 4 for 4 (1 Viewer)

And the more mainstream/popular legal sports gambling becomes, the better the bowl ratings will do.  Most of the early bowls I only watch because I have money on them, and/or because I'm in bowl pools with money on the line.  I can say for a fact that my 78 year old dad has watched every bowl game so far, and it's because we are in a pool together through a mutual friend.  Skin in the game will only increase ratings.

Yeah, all of this.  Let the gamblers have their fun.

I don't see anybody whining about 162 boring baseball games in a season, or 82 games in the NBA, which isn't relevant until like game #35 for most teams.  Let the degenerates watch the Plantar Warts Bowl in peace.

I've got no problem with the number of bowl games, but it does kind of suck from a TV-viewer perspective when there are more cameramen there than paying fans.

I've never understood the "way too many bowls" argument.

Who complains about more college football?
 I was just responding to this: "Sorry but the bowl game system is on its last legs. ESPN has to be losing their shirt on these early games. Nobody is watching and nobody is attending these games. Add in the number of players skipping these games and the interest in even the midlevel bowls is waning."

Y’all: they are adding more bowls, not taking any away
I can see them not going away; however, if the playoff field expands to 8 teams, I can see those days being off-limits to these minor bowls. NFL gets Sunday plus Monday night, the CFP gets Saturday, the minor bowls can choose any day between Tuesday and Friday.

The NFL thinks Dabo is a moron, but at least he’s doing the NFL thing with juicing his players. Maybe they’ll reconsider?

Ostarine is a sarm with a short half life. If you are gonna take it you don't go in with idea it will be detectable a week later even.

It's been showing up in more and more wada tests.

#### is legit and will get you jacked without many side effects. Doesn't shock they got on it.

ONE. HUNDRED. SIXTY. TWO.

my god

If they took a banned substance, ban them. Simple enough. Hopefully it’ll be a lesson to the remainder of the players to know what they’re taking and speak to the trainers and nutritionist to make sure their supplements are ok.  I wouldn’t want my team playing someone that went afoul of the rules.  I’m sure most of you wouldn’t want a player eligible for your team if did the same thing, or did something like punch a woman.  Some of you might not care though.

For the the upcoming game, ND already had a puncher’s chance. The middle should be a little softer.

Lol.... Took the high road for a minute, but couldn't help yourself and had to deflect, right?

I'm not judging. I root for a school that killed a kid last Spring. We're all the worst kind of hypocrites.

It’s not a deflection so much as a chuckle at those taking joy as if they’ve been pristine.

Im very disappointed in what happened here.  Assuming this isn’t a false positive, they shouldn’t play another down. No excuses.

Now, coaches, OTOH...

Why? Please don't tell me you're shocked by it and this didn't happen when Watson was there.

I personally don't care - let 'em all juice (they do anyway) and get paid (over or under the table don't matter). I'm rooting for - God help me, I never thought I'd say this - Clemson to win the tournament.

Not sure. My understanding from articles I’ve read is everyone on every team is tested nearly every week. I suppose they could all be masking everything, but I think these teams are very careful with supplements.  These 3 probably went to GNC on their own instead of consulting with team nutritionists and how they have to pay the price.

I wish all Florida state players were on roids.

From what is being reported today. This stuff pops up in some supplements.

A few have gotten their bam knocked down from 2 years to 6 months by producing the receipts.

Brandon Wimbush will be excellent wherever he chooses to transfer. ND fans have nothing but good to say about him and how he helped the team and took the demotion with class this year.

I’m naturally curious where he lands but wish him nothing but the best. I think he’d be awesome at Wisconsin, for one.

Wow. This is surprising -

Big news for #Oregon and the NFL draft: Ducks QB Justin Herbert is returning for his senior season in 2019.

Just coming here to post this.  Happy day for Ducks' fans.

Now, if they can just find an offensive coordinator who can best utilize his skills.....

Oregon fans have been hearing this was likely for awhile now but it is great news.  I wouldn't have faulted him for a minute to go pro.  I may look to go to game in Dallas next year against Auburn on this news.  FDAS how is your squad looking next year?

FDAS only roots for Auburn basketball now.

Why would he do that? Supposed to be a top-5 pick and since he’s a qb likely #1. Wild. Good for Oregon but seems insane.

Apparently, his family has a little money, but certainly not life changing generational wealth that comes from being a 1st round NFL pick.  Least, I don't think so.  It's a decision that I bet Matt Leinart and Matt Barkley regret to this day.  Hope it works out for him, but gosh that's a lot of money to turn down.

Course I'm sure it's good to be king with the college coeds at Oregon.

I heard he just enjoys college and along with his family having money he would like to play with his brother who is a 4 star TE coming in next year.

Luck and Mariota passed on declaring early and it worked out for them.  Hopefully Herbert's decision works out for him.

Mariota left after his junior year, which was smart.  I think his family needed the money, though.  I'm really hoping Mariota can be a better QB than he has shown so far.  Great kid.  His talents have been stifled in Tenn.

Mariota could have left after sophomore year since he redshirted.  He has shown promise at Tennessee but just needs to stay healthy and has had some bad luck with injuries.

And when they initially announced they were coming back, we pointed to Manning...it’s certainly can work out. But odds against Im sure.

I have never watched a CFB game this bad, and been more entertained. 4 picks in 9 plays, 7-0. :cheezitbowl:    :lmao:

What do Drew Bledsoe,  Trung Canidate, Graham Harrell, Aaron Rodgers,  Tyler Lockett, LeVeon Bell and Blake Bell (no relation) have in common?

They are all former Offensive MVPs of the storied Copper/Insight.com/BuffaloWildWings/Cactus/CheezIt Bowl
