2018 College Football Thread: Local man buys some teenage champions a 4 for 4 (1 Viewer)

I really don’t care at all about McMurphy, I just enjoy the drama. It cracks me up when a fan base comes unhinged, especially after seeing everyone defend Zach Smith a couple of months back. It’s like politics, but almost more tribal where there’s grasping at every straw just hoping something sticks.
Oh... the irony.

I see. Perhaps you can use the mutual schadenfreude to heal the rift between you and Dr. D.
That guy just follows me around. I don’t believe you’ll find an instance of me ever initiating a conversation with him, he just feels the need to chime in occasionally and make old man jokes.  That rift can stay as wide as he likes.

"Wat" exactly is difficult to understand?  I don't initiate conversation with you, I don't ask for your opinion, and I have no need to hear your thoughts.  I only respond to your inane posts if you quote me and make a comment towards me.  Or is it the old man jokes confusing you?  There's some quality stuff like quoting me saying "bye week" and turning it into a gay joke, or rhyming Marc with fart.  Good ####, my man.

Have a hard time believing a college football reporter is doing anything but reporting a story.  Keep trying though you guys will eventually make us all believe Ohio st and urban are the victims.
I really didn't understand how that story was supposed to reflect poorly on Meyer. He accused the kid and his mom of faking a cancer diagnosis so he could transfer to Florida and not sit out a year. And the reason he did that was because Zach Smith used the N word and the kid was using that to blackmail Meyer into cooperating. Give me a break. That story was an embarrassment.

I'm a Michigan fan that lives in the middle of Ohio country and literally the only win I've experienced since moving here came with a giant Luke Fickell asterisk.  There's good reason I became a Michigan fan despite growing up in this state - these people and everything to do with that athletic department are insufferable.  I have developed lots of sports hate over the years but there are just two that have jumped the line from sports hate to just outright hate - You Jackson and Buckeye Honk.

If next weekend is not an enjoyable one I worry about what I will say and do.  But I also worry about what I will say and do if it goes well.  Success has been few and far between against those two atrocities lately.  Maybe I should conduct a preemptive strike and get my account suspended beforehand.

I lived in C-bus for 5-6 years and saw it firsthand. It turned my ambivalence about OSU to full out hatred.

Until more people start getting fired, there’s not much to say. The games this weekend are boring, the standings are boring, there’s not too much drama.
Which means this weekend will be chock-full of shenanigans!

What if Syracuse beats Notre Dame.  No drama???

What if Cincy ruins the repeat championship dreams of UCF and all its legion of fans?

How about WVU and Ok. St playing a game of first one to 60 wins?

What if Rice pulls a Troy?  I know a lot of people in here would feel better about themselves.

Miles reached a buyout agreement with LSU. Some KU fans are convinced he's their next coach. I don't understand why either side would want that. Not saying Miles isn't a good coach but I don't think a 65 year-old is the man for that job.

Worked OK in Manhattan

Yeah, that's been the scuttlebutt from some KU fans and these folks WANT it to happen.

Short of hiring Mangino back, who IS the man for the job? They've literally tried every type of man there is for this; young, old, fat, fit, black, white....it's been coaching suicide to come to KU too.  What up and comer wants to take this herculean task on?

In terms of actual candidates I'd go with Jedd Fisch over Miles. I am assuming they reached out to Doeren and were told to F off.

They should hire Sean Snyder.  Bill might not make it through the year at KSU.  I know that's crazy talk but KU could probably do a lot worse than Sean with a built-in mentor.  He knows the state.

Why hasn't Brent Venables ever taken a head coaching job?
I’ve heard he’s just looking for the right job. Always been a ton of rumors that he wants KState when Snyder goes, but who knows. He’s kind of intense too, it would be a different mindset so not sure how well he’d make that adjustment. Maybe we’ll get lucky and he’ll stick around. His son is on the team right now.

Im guessing we lose either BV or Tony Elliot in the next year or two.

It's sounding more and more like the KSU job is going to be open.  I'm sure he's #1 on their wish list.  Not sure how he will feel if Snyder ends up getting thrown out or if he's even interested.

What is Doeren's tie to Kansas?

I can't decide how good of a coach I think he is but he's recruiting very well at NC State.  I have no idea who he's going to replace Finley with though.

Nah - but hearing this from a Michigan and PSU fan is not at all surprising.  Any "rival" living in the opponents city is going to have things get under their skin.
Non crazy buckeye fans that I will actually spend time and energy on have all said how great of a time they have had in Ann Arbor. That they're treated how one would expect of a rival. Trading verbal blows but in a this is just a game manner. They also echo my sentiments on that not being the case in that cesspool Columbus.

Heard a piece on a pod about this. He makes sense.

Kansas cant really afford to hire a guy who is going to bolt. Miles has one gig left and its not like he will be looking to cash in winning for a higher job. 4-5 years to get the program turned around and get boosters on board. Then take your shot with an up and comer...

I dont know. I think it makes some sense.

Re SEC being overrated...ideally if the CFP is spread across 4 Conferences or 3 + ND...there should be some good seed v seed Bowl matchups.

We should get a bowl season bet going for Conference wins.

Waiting for Dabo to head to Tuscaloser?
I could definitely be wrong, I just don’t see that. For sure not following Saban anyway. I get that’s his alma mater, but he’s spent many more years at Clemson than at Bama, he’s very loyal to the program for giving him a shot, his sons all go / are going to Clemson, and his wife plays a huge role in the community and with special needs programs.  He has full autonomy to do what he wants at Clemson.  At Bama, his best scenario has him retiring as maybe their 3rd best coach ever if he passes Stallings?

It could happen, I’ll never say never.  It just doesn’t seem like the slam dunk that most are expecting. If / when he does go, I’d assume Jeff Scott takes over. He’s being groomed as the next Dabo and they have similar traits.

You never know. Jimbo just left FSU for like the 9th best SEC program.
