2018 College Football Thread: Local man buys some teenage champions a 4 for 4 (1 Viewer)

Junior QB Tyree Jackson quietly building his NFL resume with a very solid 21/26, 325 yards and 3 TD.  Cannon arm, 6'7" 245, and he's got a 12:1 TD:INT ratio through 3 games.

MAC football is still garbage, but it's nice to be 3-0.
Hey, Ben Rothlisberger came from the MAC.

Never seen Tyree Jackson, but he's at the minimum big like Rothlisberger (a little taller, even). Jackson appears to have a lot going for him going by the stats you posted.

He would've had a little more hype if he hadn't missed literally half of his sophomore season due to injury.  There was a little bit of preseason buzz that he could have a Josh Allen-type rise up the draft boards if the Bulls had a strong season....great size, huge arm, athletic, small school guy.  CBS had him ranked as like the 75th best player in the country on some random preseason list I saw, so he's definitely on the radar.  These first few games haven't done anything to damage his case, that's for sure.

Purdue just attempted a FIFTY YARD FIELD GOAL instead of going for it on 4th and 4. In what world is that more likely than getting four yards???? Why are all these coaches dumb.

I don't have any stats whatsoever in front of me, but that sounds like a 50-50 call to me. Depends a lot on Purdue's kicker -- at or close to NFL level, or a guy who struggles from even 35-40 yards out?

Purdue has almost 500 yards of offense 2 minutes into the 4th. It’s an extremely dumb call.

I don’t know anything about Purdue’s kicker situation but a quick google shows they had a kicker competition in August, so I can’t imagine either one is exactly NFL caliber.

Loooong review in Jerrah World but at least they reversed a bad targeting call
worrying part of that was the review guy they have in the booth was 1000000000% positive that was targeting and could not possibly be reversed

if that were targeting i quit football.

Yeah, that wasn't targeting and I'm a Buckeye Homer through and through. I'm glad it got reversed.

Things I’m incapable of doing:

dunking a basketball

winning a candy raffle

feeling sympathy for USC football
The great part about this is it would work just as well were thngs exactly the opposite in that game.

New Orleans/Baton Rouge Guys: Matt Moscona has got A LOT of crow to eat. He was treating Auburn hosting LSU as if Auburn was playing a bad junior high squad. He wouldn't come out with a score prediction, of course. Just marked it up as an auto-loss for LSU and a comfortable roll-out-the-helmets cruise for Auburn.

I know Alabama will take us by 3 TDs or more ... let the Purple and Gold faithful bask for a while, until the next "2017 Troy State"-type game.
I'm guessing they didn't parlay LSU and the under like all the smart people did.

If LSU is +21 against Bama, @gump would bet his lucky houndstooth socks on the Tigers.

Utah DL had a pick-six in the bag, fumbled the ball out of bounds at the 11 yard line untouched, and Utah went 4-and-out to give Washington the ball back.

It was originally ‘masturbation’ instead of ‘alcohol’ but I figured that wouldn’t last long.
When I went to UWYO, BYU would come to town every other year for their annual game.  Students used to hold up signs along the main drag in town that said “honk if you like Mormon kitty”.  Not kitty.

As a fan of a team that sucks balls I feel I can be objective here.  It’s a catch-22.  While I think rooting for a conference is stupid, you are kidding yourself if you think OSU’s CFP chances aren’t hurt by the B1G teams losing.  It may be a small amount and winning out solves everything, but it definitely doesn’t help and can hurt in a scenario where there’s multiple one loss teams.

True. But that's no reason to look at it on a game-by-game, week-in, week-out basis across the entire conference. I will watch and pull for the Pokes. And I would have liked for TCU to hang on against OSU last night--because that game could have a big impact if OU and OSU are fighting for a playoff spot this year. But I will never pull for Texas unless it directly impacts OU. And even then-I still won't like it.

Of the 7 B1G teams that lost yesterday, only 4 are on OSU's schedule. Only two of the teams that lost yesterday are in the B1G East, and they were expected to suck (Rutgers and Maryland). The B1G East is strong this year, while the B1G West sucks balls.
