2018 College Football Thread: Local man buys some teenage champions a 4 for 4 (1 Viewer)

In case you missed it, today Rutgers was 2/17 passing for 8 yards and 5 INT in their 34-7 home loss against Maryland.
Love that the big 10 saddled themselves with them. If they didn’t take them they’d be a bottom-tier American team. Insanely dumb.

Edit: Maryland ain’t a whole lot better but at least they are relatively competitive.

Rumor has it Game Day is finally going to Pullman on Saturday for WSU vs Oregon.

That's a pretty cool thing for those that follow along.  Pullman is near nothing cool or anything resembling civilization.

ESPN will do this to get it our of the way and will never ever be back in my lifetime.

Maryland's worse. Don't forget their trump card of killing a kid last summer.

Isn't one of the cool things about this the WSU flag that has been flown by fans at every single Game day?  It's never flown at its own home.

Bama fans here.  How does Georgia stay in the top 10?  Did anyone watch that game? From was/is terrible, i have not seen that bad of quarterback play in awhile.  Georgia might lose their next game to Florida.

There's controversy in Athens on Fromm v Fields...Kirby has his hands full keeping this together, as 'supposedly' Fields doesn't feel he's been honest to him.

Why would Fields even choose UGA?  I get he was the #1 or #2 QB but Fromm was #1 the year before and went to the Nat. Championship game.  Did Fields think he was going to walk in and replace Fromm?

Also, couldn't happen to a nicer bunch

I don’t get it either, but Lawrence chose Clemson when we had a 5 star commit the year before too. The best think they’re the best and can’t comprehend anyone beating them out. They’ve been conditioned for years that they walk on water.  I mean look at Kelly Bryant.  Literally everyone saw the writing on the wall and he acted like he was shocked that he wasn’t going to be the starter moving forward.

It’s funny listening to UGA fans ##### about Fromm.  Dude was a freshman who led you to the NC game and played really well all season.  They’ve basically killed everyone this year and he had a bad game yesterday.  And even with that I think the UGA coaching staff was bad and didn’t help him. LSU rushed 3 and dropped 8 a lot yesterday just daring them to run it.  They are trying to run 3 WR sets down the field with 8 defenders - seemed stupid to me. They should have run the ball 80% of the time yesterday and they would have kept it much closer.

ETA: and virtually no play action pass.  That was a staple under Richt that always worked well for them.  I’m not sure I remember Fromm doing it at all yesterday.

As usual, its all about money and has nothing to do with sports, competition, education or fans.  I'm a lifelong Wisconsin fan and still consider Penn State a newcomer to the conference, the red-headed stepchild.  Rutgers, Maryland and Nebraska are not even on the radar in terms of games I care about.  On the field its been a disaster for Rutgers and added nothing competitively for anyone. Longer travel for players and away fans, watered-down rivalries, completely pointless.

Financially, it has been a success for the school and the conference, exactly as planned (so far). Rutgers will earn about $40m in the Big ten next season compared with about $3-4m they would have earned in the American conf. (they had a 6 year introductory phase, and get a full share starting next season.)  The BTN now has access to tens of millions of new cable subscribers in New Jersey,New York and Maryland and signed up massive deals with ESPN, FOX, CBS, and others in recent years. The Big Ten basketball tournament was held at Madison Square Garden last season. For better or worse (probably worse) its working as planned.

i don't know what poll it is, but this was posted in this thread earlier today.

What poll do you see that?

They are likely to finish 11-1 with only the OT loss at Penn State.  I don't think they are one of the 25 best teams though.

Yes, sir.... I was on it like the idiot I was/am

Fridge bailed me out amongst my coworkers, though his best teams were with Vanderliden's players.
Just saw a tweet that Mark Duffner is expected to become the Tampa Bay Bucs interim defensive coordinator.  There's a name I haven't heard in a long time.

Ohio State football: Nick Bosa will focus on NFL instead of possible return to Buckeyes, sources say

The sources said that Bosa met with OSU coach Urban Meyer and some of his staff on Sunday to let them know of the decision he, his father John Bosa and the family had reached about his future.
This takes the whole "sitting out the bowl game to avoid injury and strengthen draft spot" to another level.
