You’ve lost twice, that should matter.  It’s not a conspiracy theory, you can’t lose multiple games on a 12 game schedule.

It does matter, but it's not everything.  Strength of schedule matters as does the eyeball test.  OSU struggling with Nebraska and getting destroyed by Purdue influenced the committee.  They just think LSU is better.  Plenty of time for them to change their minds.

Ok I came into this deferring to the SEC because of their past success, but your points are now going to make me fire back the counterpoint as to why the SEC stuff is BS. The SEC’s success I posted about in the playoff is essentially one team, the rest of you are just riding coattails. Also, don’t give me that SOS BS when the rankings are propping up the same teams over and over. 2 loss LSU at 7, 2 loss Kentucky at 11, 3 loss UF at 15. All three of you got ####### slaughtered this weekend.  UF got killed by a 5-4 Missouri team, so LSU gets a quality loss because they lost to a top 15 team and Missouri gets a quality win over a top 15 team?  That’s crap. 

Oh and if you want to count the eyeball test, please re-watch those 3 top 15 SEC teams that lost this past weekend, because it made my eyeballs bleed seeing how bad they were.

OK, fair points.  Now point to the quality wins for OSU or whatever B1G team you want.  How about Clemson?  How many losses do you think LSU would have right now if they had played Clemson's schedule and vice versa?   Also note that the only time Clemson has struggled this year was against an SEC team.

*and just to be clear, I'm not saying LSU is better than Clemson.

I honestly don’t know who OSU has played and I’m not going to stump for them either.  The team that I feel has the best case is West Virginia, but they’ve got enough schedule left that it won’t matter.  I can’t speak to Clemson / LSU or vice versa either. I’d say that Clemson probably doesn’t lose to UF.  I’d be more resolute about things in prior years, but Clemson this year is a different animal under Trevor Lawrence and the improvement he’s made each week is astounding.  If we were still starting KB, we’d probably still be undefeated but it would be built on lies just like last year. 

My main point though is that the SEC for years has gotten away with “look at our SOS” all the while their teams are getting credit for wins and losses. It’s backwards.

The PAC 12 has 1 win

The big 12 has 0 wins because 0-u sucks

The big 10 has 2 wins from Ohio States title run and that’s it

The ACC has 3 wins from Clemson and that’s it 

The SEC has 6 wins (5 of which are Bama)

When it was coming down to the wire last year I was praying for Ohio State over Bama as the 4 seed because I knew Clemson had a much better chance against the Buckeyes.

might be better to show wins and losses.  I think Pac 12 has only made playoffs twice, Oregon and Washington, and is 1-2 with both losing to eventual champion.

I would bet that if WVU wins their last three games (TCU, @ Oklahoma State, Oklahoma) and wins the Big 12 Championship game (against Texas, Oklahoma or Iowa State), they still would probably behind a two-loss LSU.

I only responded originally when you suggested that the only reason OSU is ranked behind LSU is because of some effort by the committee to prop up the SEC.

 Really just mentioned OSU because they tend to get benefit of the doubt. I bet it would be hard to find a poll where a 1 loss OSU team is behind any 2 loss teams. 

 
BTW, WVU has a history of crapping the bed when they reach the Top 10 under Holgorsen.  I would not be surprised at all to see them lose at TCU this weekend.

Love CFB but so tired of these same conversations every single year. It's such a dumb way to pick a champion. 

Let's debate for hours who has a better resume, the Saints or the Chiefs. Oh wait we don't have to do that because they have a logical system in place to determine the champion. 

16 teams, all conference champs in. Make it happen dummies.

LSU has a glass ceiling at 7. Winner of OSU/Michigan will be ahead of LSU. Winner of OU/WVa is ahead of LSU. One loss ND, Clemson, Alabama, UGA is ahead of LSU. Two loss Alabama is ahead of LSU. Two Loss michigan might be ahead of LSU. If you dont think of them as old rankings where you move up when someone ahead of you loses and you win, its not that big of a deal.

Wouldn't matter if they scored a point.  They'd give up 40 in the first half and see the backups in the 3rd.  

Then still lose by 29 more in the 2nd half.

 
Miami pulled the upset over Ohio last night's #MACtion, giving Buffalo some breathing room in the MAC East.  UB sits 6-0 in conference with Miami and Ohio both at 4-2.  Buffalo cliches the MAC East division title with (1) a win over Ohio next Thursday), (2) a win over Bowling Green on Friday 11/23, or (3) an Ohio loss against Akron on Friday 11/23. 

I have no idea what happens if Ohio and Miami both win out and UB loses out.  All 3 would be 6-2 - UB with win over Miami, loss to Ohio - Ohio with win over UB, loss to Miami - Miami with win over Ohio, loss to UB.  It's like much ####tier version of the 2008 Big 12 when Texas, Texas Tech, and Oklahoma all finished 7-1.

ACCs down year continues with NCSt losing...IMO, Cuse gets spanked next weekend at the Stadium.

Really don't think they can bench him this week and they sure aren't benching him (as things stand) against Auburn.  But he'll get (most of) December off, so there's that.

Buffalo should demand not only entry into the CFB, but demand the 4 seed so they get Bama.

The complete collapse of the PAC10 is probably the biggest suprise to me in last 5 years.  Oregon had an infrastructure in place and Stanford was solid every year. 

Now it's just hope that Leach can maybe hold things together or USC cares again. Or something.

Syracuse beating ND or BC beating Clemson and Syracuse change my opinion on this but the ACC is:

Clemson

A bunch of teams

North Carolina and Louisville

Oregon struggled after Chip Kelly left and opened the door for average teams like Washington to make some noise with Chris Peterson.  If USC could find a coach they would be scary again with all the talent they get.  I am optimistic Oregon will be back on top of the North next year with the recruiting class they are bringing in.

The Oregon collapse can be pinned on Helfrich and his lack of recruitment.  There wasn't any real effort on his coaching staff to restock the shelves and the rest of the league and country caught up to their up tempo style.  I also don't think he was a good head coach.  See the Alamo Bowl debacle against TCU as proof.  That loss was inexcusable and he should have been fired seconds after that game.  Instead, he toiled away for another season and set the program backwards.  

I'm optimistic an uptick in recruiting will inject new life, but I am not sold on Cristoball as a coach either.  What happened in Arizona was embarrassing.  I think he should fire his offensive coordinator and bring in somebody who can, you know, ADAPT during the course of a game and make changes.  Arroyo is stubborn and has not demonstrated the ability to play to his team's strengths while masking their deficiencies.  The O-Line is beat up.  Maybe don't run it into the teeth of the defense repeatedly?  I dunno....

Clay Helton will be fired soon.  USC has no more excuses to suck this bad.  Sanctions are gone, they recruit in the most fertile of land and yet they just can't seem to return to the glory days.

Washington needs to find a real QB to pair with their running game and better than average defenses.  I don't have the numbers, but I'd be surprised if UW doesn't rank among the leaders in putting defensive guys in the NFL (especially DBs) the last 5 years.  Jake Browning is a noodle-armed joke.  Sharp kid, gamer, but he throws with the strength of Granny Clampett.  

Stanford isn't hard to figure out.  They can only recruit from a very small pool of players and do well with what they get.  Occasionally, they will field a good to great team, capable of winning a Rose Bowl.  But they won't ever make the playoffs.  They take their studies for realz there.  Just the facts of life for them.  

It sucks.  But I'm still holding out hope WSU runs the table and plays well in a bowl game.  I don't think they will beat UW, but I'll root for them and hope they return to the Rose Bowl.  :shrug:

 
Maybe the biggest day in the long-storied history of college football in Massachusetts tomorrow? ?

9 a.m. to noon: College Game Day on the BC campus

Noon: UMass vs. BYU at Gillette ... figure BYU will have a wagon of fans. Both teams still technically chasing bowl eligibility (assuming Georgia does us a solid and completely overlooks the Minutemen next week ? ).

8 p.m.: Clemson at Boston College
