2018 College Football Thread: Local man buys some teenage champions a 4 for 4 (2 Viewers)

i only put this msu game on a few minutes ago.  seems like the worst game in the history of college football?
I thought that about the MSU-Nebraska game. And the MSU-Rutgers game.

It’s like Office Space. Every game is worse than the one before it. So every game, while I’m watching it, is the worst game in the history of college football.

excuse me, i think you have my post.
Michael: Yeah, well at least your post isn’t about Mondays.
Samir: You know there’s nothing wrong with that post.
Michael: There was nothing wrong with it until 12 seconds before when that no-talent ### clown Long Ball Larry posted it first.
Samir: Hmm… well why don’t you just go change yours to another Office Space quote?
Michael: No way. Why should I change? He’s the one who sucks.

Imagine how happy you were finding out you're going to San Diego for your bowl game ... only to have it be one of the two days of the year that it rains there.

I’m just curious how long he wants to carry this torch, since he obviously doesn’t want to talk about his football program.
The last time I mentioned my team in this thread your fellow Clemson fan @Adderall Slim bashed me to the point someone else called him on it. He did the same thing in the NCAA Hoops thread more than once so being obnoxious comes in all forms.

I was only responding to a question someone else had which had nothing to do with you. You want to talk about my team? OK.

First of all, the Belk Bowl was brutal but to me it was not surprising. First of all, no Deebo. We have no replacement for his loss. Our offense takes a huge hit with him on the sidelines. Zach Bailey was another big loss on the offensive side of the ball. You already know the story on defense. All injuries and not much depth. You saw it when we played you guys. Now with all of that said, unlike some on here, I don't see the bowl games as the end all be all. They are nothing more than an exhibition game where many players are just there and just not in to it. A win is nice but what's more important to me is all of the practice time, especially for the young guys.

Now as far as going forward next season's schedule is brutal but I like it. These true freshman are still gonna be young and next year will really season them, IMO. If the staff can equal this years win total I think it will be a success in all honesty. Muschamp took over a dumpster fire with a 3 win losing to the Citadel team. It's gonna take time for him to build a program. But he is improving it piece by piece. Both lines are improving through recruitng. We just need to keep adding depth. 5* Zacch Pickens coming in next year will help that. He chose us over you.  That will be 2 5*'s on the line. Although I think he's going to Florida we are a finalist for 5* Chris Steele as well. 4* Cam Smith will be a great addition as well. LBs are my biggest concern going forward.

On offense, my biggest concern is at RB. We have some serviceable backs but not great. I personally think that Mon Denson needs to see the ball more. Other than that we need an upgrade. The young guy Fenwick shows some potential. At QB I think the team can only go so far with Bentley. If he never played another snap it would be fine with me. I was calling for him to get pulled in the 3Q on Saturday after they didn't score down inside the 10. I wanted to see Scarnecchia play a series and the Joyner for the remainder of the game. I really hope Joyner gets a shot and next season would be fine with me. The schedule is brutal so might as well let the young guys play. Speaking of QB, we have the highly rated kid coming in from California and he will enroll in January. Let him play next year as well,IMO.

Say what you will but our program has improved under Muschamp and I think it will continue as long as Hilinski pans out. You won't admit it but the gap with you is closing. The game back in November showed that. We were playing 6 true freshman against you. If we had the depth to deal with our injuries we could have won that night. The depth is being built. I'm looking at 2020 for the make or break year for Muschamp. It took Dabo more than 3 years to build what you have but people expect Champ to do it in 3? You were losing your own Belk Bowl and finishing with a losing record less than a decade ago. What did Dabo do? He built it piece by piece. It took him a few years, like 6 or 7. That's what we're going through now. Granted it's much easier in the ACC but I wouldn't have it any other way.

Go.

1.  I don’t know who slim is or what he’s about.

2.  I like the write up, I’ll be curious if Hilinski plays or if nepotism wins out.

3. In regards to the above quoted statement, give me a ####### break. We have true freshman too.  Worry about your division first, or finishing in the top 25, or staying within 20 points, or winning more games than you did the year before.  You almost have to be correct because the only place we can go in college football is to be above Bama, so literally any improvement by SCar technically would be closing the gap, but instead you went from 9 wins last year with a bowl win to 7 wins and getting blown the #### out by the Hoos.

I’m not sure which is worse - reading posts about 1980’s Clemson cheating or current day SC team.
BigMarc wanted to talk about my team so I obliged. At least we're not Ga. Tech.

I respect you as a poster and we have a lot in common as far as this board goes but if you don't like my post please use the ignore feature.

Apparently he doesn’t understand what program has more wins, or a higher winning %, or National titles, or conference titles, etc...
I'm talking in the current state of college football. The landscape has changed dramatically since they won their MNC. It's not the same game. Kudos to them for their accomplishments 28 years ago but today that is meaningless. Would you rather be Yale, Harvard, Princeton, Army, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Pittsburgh, Notre Dame, Michigan, Southern California, etc, etc, or would you rather be Clemson. All listed have more titles than you. That's your logic anyway. In the present I don't think there is a question on which program is better.

Even if all things are equal or it's close the tiebreaker would probably be the SEC money and our overall revenue.

Go.
The only post regarding Carolina I ever made in the hoops thread was complimenting you and other Gamecock fans on your Final 4 trip. If you can find contrary evidence, I’ll happily donate $500 to one of your 2 preferred charities:  Carolina Fans to Jail Dabo or icantgiveafemaleanorgasm.com.

You realize they had the same record as you this season and also beat the team that just shut you out 28-0.

This season.

Your current coach is 22-17 and hasn't won anything.   I'll leave out the 1-5 interim guy though that should be applied to Spurrier who quit on the team/school because it was so bad.   Spurrier was the best era of South Carolina football ever, right?  It was about equal to Paul Johnson's era at Georgia Tech except Johnson won an Orange Bowl and went to another.  South Carolina has never played in one better than the Outback Bowl.  It just gets worse if we keep going but again  :lmao:  at Gamecock guy saying at least they aren't Georgia Tech.   Really, all you got here is "S-E-C; S-E-C; S-E-C"

But dude, they play in the same conference as Bama!  Of course they haven’t played in 8 years but...  same conference.

How much has the best players sitting out affected bowl attendance? I find it VERY hard to have any interest in a game where the team's QB sits out, etc. The team in the bowl game isn't even the team that earned the spot.

Well I imagine they still go to the game so that one ticket still gets counted?

Sounds from reading this thread that there are a lot of half empty stadiums, that's why I asked. Maybe that isn't new?
These bowl game stadiums have had terrible attendance for years from what I’ve seen.

No offense man but you are taking CFB and this thread a little too seriously.

So it looks like Holgorsen is really leaving WVU to be the new coach at UHouston.

Very strange.
Not really. Houston fancies itself a premier program and is paying more than WVU. This was probably his best chance to win a conference title there this year and they didn’t do it. Go get the money now.

Strange. Seems like because of either ego or bad relationships he purposely took a step back in his career...surely WVU could’ve matched the $.
