2018 College Football Thread: Local man buys some teenage champions a 4 for 4 (1 Viewer)

@Brett_McMurphy: Temple will receive $6.5 million from losing two coaches - $2.5 million from Georgia Tech for Geoff Collins & $4 million from Miami for Manny Diaz

Holy crap, just looked up Manny's time at Texas....

:lmao:

recommend not doing that if you're a Canes' fan. Damn.
In 2012, Diaz guided the Texas Longhorns to the worst defense in school history.[3]

On September 7, 2013, the Longhorns' defense, under Diaz, gave up a school-record 550 yards rushing to Brigham Young University, including 257 to quarterback Taysom Hill. The following day, Mack Brown described the defensive performance as "unacceptable" and relieved Diaz of his duties as defensive coordinator.

He’s kinda good
Watching again now...more TDs than incompletions but forgot how he really looked...tight throws...great reads...so good. Hitting the brakes 2Q (smartly to keep him healthy) threw the O off a bit. But he kept making big throws outside much rhythm. He’s a really special talent.

Lol what did Clemson do in 81

Yeah, I'm dying to know what "happened". I'm guessing nothing.
Disclaimer: The truth can be obnoxious to some. Hope the snowflakes don't melt.

There were over 150 recruiting violations which included cars, cash, other gifts, scholarships to friends, paying bills for relatives, etc., etc., etc. All starting out in 1977 under HC  Charley Pell and continuing with Danny Ford through 1982. Here are a couple of good articles on the subject written on the same day in 1982.

Washington Post 11/23/1982

UPI 11/23/1982

In January 1990 Coach Ford got caught again with his hand in the cookie jar and was forced to resign.

Washington Post 1/19/1990

Even good old Father Dabo has been involved in a major recruiting scandal at a very prominent program and as a result was fired.

I'm not a Clemson fan, so I'm unlikely to melt down over this.

If SMU got the Death Penalty during this era for what they did, why wasn't Clemson investigated?

P.S. As an aside, your loathing of Clemson makes my hatred for Ohio State look like a match strike.

I'm not sure exactly what you're asking. They were investigated and were punished by the NCAA. The ACC added on an extra year for good measure and kept their TV revenue, which is nothing when compared to today.

Ask him about Newspring if you want a good laugh. There’s a contingent of their base “investigating” a church because they’re positive Clemson is laundering money through tithing so we can pay millions undetected.  I know a guy who I’ll just causally comment about how I forgot to send in my donation check this month to newspring and you’ll just see him get red in the face and practically hyperventilate because it makes him so mad.  Coincidentally, that guy calls people snowflakes too.

I'm sure Jadeveon Clowney, Sindarius Thornwell, Marcus Lattimore and others went to South Carolina because of it's academic reputation and history of on field/court success.

:lmao:  That's hilarious. That's some great trutherism right there... :lmao:

Ah, the "$Cam Newton Play".  Auburn been running this shtick for close to a decade now.  Really is a great way to funnel money to players.   You guys should look into prepaid Visa Debit Cards, and rigged slot machines.*

ETA: For the slots to work, the school needs to have a booster who owns a casino and/or race track that also has slots.

That’s genius. How is auburn not doing what Bama is?

Everything I posted is fact. You can ignore them if you want to but they don't go away.

Maybe, maybe not. You got a link to back any of that up?  Of course you don't.

All 3 of the athletes you mention are native South Carolinians. Not really far-fetched.

How does one rig a slot machine so that it pays out only to Auburn players?

Clemson got punished by the NCAA, I mean it’s not like it’s a federal grand jury indicting our staff or anything, but we’re trying our best.  Hey, you can ignore these facts, but please know that they don’t go away.

“On April 19, 1989 a federal grand jury indicted USC defensive coordinator Tom Gadd, defensive line coach Jim Washburn, tight ends coach Tom Kurucz, and strength coach Keith Kephart in connection with steroid distribution to players.[2] A fifth person, John Landon Carter of Bethesda, Maryland, was also charged with dispensing anabolic steroids to four former Gamecock players: Tommy Chaikin, David Poinsett, Heyward Myers and George Hyder.[2] The indictments charged that illegal acts occurred from 1984 through December 1987.[2] Gadd, Washburn, and Kurucz were accused of conspiring to "provide money to certain players and athletic personnel of the university for the purchasing of steroids for use by athletic personnel."[2]The indictments stated that the three monitored training programs to enhance steroid use and "would arrange to obtain sources for the purchase of unprescribed, misbranded steroids which were thereafter utilized by football players."[2] Kephart was charged with conspiring with other members of the USC athletic community to obtain steroids illegally across state lines, and the indictments charged that he and unidentified others "would administer the steroids to each other to improve athletic performance and to enhance physical appearance."

Yet which school had a student athlete die due to steroid use?

Hint: It's the school in Pickens County

You forgot to add a snowflake crack.
