And with TRE and frosty switching allegiances to the Cubs, there's plenty of room for people to jump on the bandwagon.
I was just kidding.
That Carlos Marmol shirsey you're wearing says otherwise.
But I also have an Oswaldo Arcia and a Kennys Vargas!
the interest in Park isn't exactly a vote of confidence in Vargas
I'm not very good at picking shirts.

Dylan Bundy held out of Arizona Fall League start due to "tightness in his right elbow."

So everything is pretty normal I suppose.

Cards prospect Alex Reyes popped for 50 games for testing positive for ganj. MLB needs to grow up.
It's not MLB. Reyes isn't on the 40 man so he falls under MiLB's jurisdiction. The big league players negotiated away the minor leaguers' drug testing rights in the current CBA.

He mysteriously got pulled from the Arizona Fall League a couple days ago. Mystery solved. Reyes was on track for a mid/late season callup in 2016. I imagine that timetable got set back a bit.
Anthony Reyes just turned 34. He's available for a comeback with the Redbirds.
If he's willing to play for 2015 John Lackey money, invite him to spring training. The race to the bottom Reyes and Kip Wells had in '07 was one of the most fascinating intrasquad battles of the LaRussa era in STL.

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

@BVHJays: Heard that there there may be contractual complications in the Darren O'Day market since he's already owned by Jose Bautista.

I don't know much about Murphy. People are saying he's good and obviously the Twins had a need there. But Hicks in New York is going to be a great fit if he builds on the step forward he took this season.

Trade makes a lot of sense for both teams. The Twins need a catcher in the worst way and Murphy is expendable since Gary Sanchez is finally ready.

Hicks showed legitimate improvement in 2015. He's a productive option against LHP and brings a plus glove regardless. He'll slot right into the Chris B. Young role and can fill in any of the three OF positions. Beltran is pretty much a left handed bat these days so Hicks should be able to get 300 PA. There's also always the chance of a late-20s breakout a la Lorenzo Cain.

Joe Torre says they are looking into tweaking replay because of the situation when runners are out for barely popping off the bag on a slide
Like this a lot. Not sure exactly how to fix it, but happy it's addressed.
If the runner gets any part of the bag before the tag he's still safe even if part of the body pops off the base while still being tagged. Runner completely sliding past the bag would still be considered out if they were tagged.

This board has grown kind of contentious lately. Maybe it's just baseball withdrawal but I blame RnR regardless.

Sorry about that. I guess I am going through a bit of withdrawal.

Maybe I'll give myself a fix and sit down and watch the 2005 World Series DVD tonight.

Wrigs, maybe you should do the same and read those stone tablets that the story of the 1908 World Series are chiseled into.

If you're going to have to rest on the same laurels for 107 years, the 1908 title is better than most. Cait Murphy's Crazy '08 is an entertaining telling of a season that had just about everything.

So now we're gonna get replay and a possible result could be well he broke the rule and should be out but nah he's safe?

More baseball brilliance.

The ONLY way that should be called is if the runner is forcibly pushed off the base. :lmao: at as long as he touched the bag before tagged he's safe nonsense.

Why would the Braves trade Simmons (rumour out there)?
They're dumb. They're punting on down the road until they get their new stadium, but, they're dumb.

I'm assuming it's LA, who inquired about him at the deadline this year.
If it's really a NL West team as rumored, the Prellers are the most logical trade partner unless the Dodgers see Corey Seager as a 3B.
I always assumed that was in the cards? He's built like a 3B. Dennis Lin, a Pads beat, says that SD has checked in but nothing's currently cooking.

A 3-4 WAR SS who is signed to a very reasonable contract for the next 5 years is something every team should be interested in at least kicking the tires on, frankly.

That was my initial reaction, too. When I read Andrelton's contract terms, I thought it was a misprint. Also with you on ATL's "strategy" as a franchise right now; it's why STL got Heyward and Walden for Shelby Miller last winter.

I suppose I could see it if they could also get a buyer to take on some of ATL's bad money in the deal, but that's more of an NBA tactic than MLB.

Was reading a thing about Andrelton Simmons and what a great defensive player he is and blah blah blah I've read this stuff before. So I click the link to top single seasons by SS by Defensive WAR. There's one guy who's had 5 of the top 25 seasons. Nobody else on the list has even 3 of the top 25. And here's the thing. I've never heard of Mark Belanger. And it's not like he played in 1917, like Art Fletcher, another guy I've never heard of. He played in the 1970s, for the most part.

If your window is a 4-5 year rebuild, which coincides with Simmons turning 30, and hitting his declining years, why not move him? Especially when you already have Albies in your pipeline.

Also, I'd have to imagine that the value of a player's defensive prowess is at an all time high.

So when are you going to get better value for a guy like Simmons than now?

Belanger had an amazing glove. Couldn't hit, but could get to everything. He was overshadowed during his career because he shared his side of the infield with Brooks Robinson.Belanger was the inspiration for Herzog trading for Ozzie Smith. He saw Orioles LHPs induce grounders to the left side and Belanger and Brooks would swallow them up. He got value out of soft-tossers like Dave LaPoint tricking hitters into hitting grounders to Ozzie.

I'm with LD on this one. If this is a true rebuild job, they may as well explore their options for trading Simmons. Everyone in the league knows that Simmons has a good contract. That only ups his trade value. And given that half of the league should have a legit interest, getting some folks to bid against one another is never a bad thing.

The concern other teams will have (or should have) is that if he declines defensively even just a little bit, his value takes a huge hit.
