We look back fondly upon great moments in baseball history. So what are we supposed to do now?
I'm not gonna watch that one because I despise Red Sux nation, however the others and the Cleveland Almost Dynasty one were great.Anyone catch the MLB Network special on the 1967 Red Sox? Very well done. The last two I've seen were on Jim Leyland's career and the Oakland A's of the seventies, and they were both excellent. MLB Network seems to put a premium on showing game footage, which adds to the intensity of the narration.
I had no idea how awful the Red Sox had become after Ted Williams retired. Terrible in every aspect of the game. That '67 team came completely out of nowhere. Yaz with the Triple Crown, Jim Lonborg with the Cy Young. Lonborg started thirty-nine games, pitched 273 innings. He was never the same pitcher after that year.
The Coniglario beaning was brutal to watch. It wasn't a blazing fastball by any means, it just rose and he didn't pick it up. It hit him flush. What a shame. That dude looked to have all-time talent. His bat speed reminded me of Gary Sheffield.
The season came down to the very last day, and it was so cool to see the team in the locker room huddled around a transistor radio listening to the game in Detroit. When **** McAuliffe hit into a game ending double-play, seeing all that emotion was something special.
WOW, just got the alert. Did not figure the ChiSox would get a player of Jimenez's caliber for Quintana at this point. Good move for them!Cubs acquired LHP Jose Quintana from the White Sox for OF Eloy Jiménez, RHP Dylan Cease, 1B Matt Rose, and INF Bryant Flete.
Really is.This trade is good for both clubs
Sox get future stud(farm system is stacked),
Cubs get controllable SP that they are desperate for.
Really thought they were going to land Torres for him(would have been a sharp stick in the Cubs eye)Really is.
And the farm system on the other side of town might be in the bottom 3rd now. Theo's gutted it over the last 9 months, but flags flying forever and all...This trade is good for both clubs

Lots of great farm systems never come to fruition. And the farm system on the other side of town might be in the bottom 3rd now. Theo's gutted it over the last 9 months, but flags flying forever and all...
Revel in the greatness that is Rick Hahn?So what are we supposed to do now?
Tigers will probably end up with that fat slugI wonder how much Theo tried to pawn Schwarber off on the Sox here
Yeah that's a great deal for the Sox. They continue to get really good value on trading vetsWOW, just got the alert. Did not figure the ChiSox would get a player of Jimenez's caliber for Quintana at this point. Good move for them!
ETA: Cease no slouch either.
I hope not. The Tigers' best hitting prospect is a 3-true-outcomes DH pretending to be a left fielder (Christin Stewart) so they don't need another one.Tigers will probably end up with that fat slug
Maddux and Glavine silence best hitting team. I wasn't surprised.I'm not gonna watch that one because I despise Red Sux nation, however the others and the Cleveland Almost Dynasty one were great.
Fan calling Cleveland ticket booth: What time is the game tonight?
Ticket booth: What time can you get here?
Playing in front of 300 fans sometimes.![]()
That 1995 Indians team was so good though, an't believe they didn't win it that year.
There's only so many spots on the diamond. At some point the prospects become most valuable as trade chips to strengthen the big league club.Agree it's a win win, the Cubs still have a really young core so I guess they can afford to deal top prospects.![]()
Attendance post-strike was crazy. Especially '95. My fam made the trek from Iowa to Yankee Stadium for the first time that year. We got primo seats between the dugouts behind homeplate for 5 games. It was spectacular.I'm not gonna watch that one because I despise Red Sux nation, however the others and the Cleveland Almost Dynasty one were great.

He'd fit right in with the rest of their base clogging lineup.Tigers will probably end up with that fat slug

Only logical reason for this to have happened has to involve a romp with the SILHe was supposed to leave me 4 tickets to a Cubs/Cards game back in the day
