2018 MLB Regular Season Thread! Current thread batting average: .420 (3 Viewers)

White Sox fans have bad flashbacks to #10 on that list. It was his baserunning blunder in the 1983 division series that thwarted their one big rally, and pretty much sealed their fate.
As an Indians fan, I was glad they traded Dybzinski. Couldn't stand him. And they got Pat Tabler for him who went on to have several good seasons and played many more seasons in MLB than JD did.

Rizzo playing 3rd in a 13-7 game because Maddon's smarter than the rest of us
He has 2B eligibility in my ESPN league. Is that because of the cute bunt play they do when Lester is on the mound?

First time I was ever intoxicated at a baseball game was Comiskey around 1984. Went with a friend to a work outing the mom was attending. There was a keg on the bus and me and Kevin drained our Black Cherry soda cans and started filling them up with beer. Back then, of course, you could still smoke in the ballpark. Around the 3rd inning, some weird smelling smoke made its way past us from about 3-4 rows back. That was the first time I smelled weed.

What were you, 15?

I thought all WS fans started drinking and smoking around 9

Rudy and Vance Law were the original brothers from another mother
I saw Rudy law hit one of his five or so career home runs vs the Tigers.  I remember that game because Ron Leflore, who was beloved in Detroit, made a crazy diving catch in CF and doubled the dude off 2B (Think it was Richie Hebner).  Early 80s game (82 or 83), my Grandpa took me and we sat in RF grandstand.

Hard to believe that, before Rich Hill tonight, it had been five seasons since a starter even pitched into the 10th inning ... Cliff Lee on April 8, 2012 (10 IP for the win).

Since then, 18 others threw 9 innings in a start, then either left for a pinch-hitter or were relieved before the start of the 10th.

Per Baseball Reference ... There had been 28 previous examples of a pitcher who threw a complete game 1-hitter, in which the one hit was a home run. Only once did it come to either the first or last batter of the game: The Phillies' Robin Roberts to the Reds' Bobby Adams on May 13, 1954.

Then Doug Fister and Rich Hill did it on consecutive nights.

Crazy.

Adding to this oddity, Fister's hit was the first batter of the game, Hill's was obviously the last.

I'm glad they're not forcing it upon these guys, but some not participating in the whole nickname on the uniform thing is a tad disappointing

Pretty sure Miggy didn't throw the pitch behind himself.
Fullmer didn't get any games either which is bizarre. Technically he started it all. Then kahnle retaliated but the benches eventually cleared when Cabrera started punching romine after things calmed down.

He didn't get any games because his bean ball was not intentional.

Fulmer wasn't meaning to hit anyone, glad you are locked in to the baseball season.
