2018 MLB Regular Season Thread! Current thread batting average: .420 (1 Viewer)

He was 1 for 3 with a 3R HR vs Clevinger last year or do you only include Clevineger's 2018 stats? Trying to figure out which stats you throw out.
Was looking at minimum 7 or 8 plate appearances last year. Too early to do that this year. Fair point though.

:lmao:  at this ####### clown adding like 32 pitchers to his argument after he gets called out on it.
I felt obligated to after you indirectly pointed out I didn't go past page 1 on his batter vs. pitcher page.  I'd rather keep it to pitchers he has more than 1 or 2 PA's against, but it's May 10.  Kinda can't do that.  Just like it's too early to say he's figured it out.

Just admit this whole exercise was dumb and I'll stop lol
I don't think the March exercise was dumb.  I plan to do it again later this year.  It's too early for it though.  Just like it's too early to proclaim he's figured it out.  Which you did when you started this  :P

His OPS over the last 191 games, since start of last year, is north of 1,000.

Since the start of his career, which includes the trainwreck that was 2016, his OPS is still .995 over those 218 games. Mike Trout's OPS over his first 218 games, .904.

He's figured it out, MAC. Now its your turn.

No need to make that conclusion until March 19.  I didn't draft him and I won't pay what his owners will ask for him now.  Re-assess then and hope the guys I picked instead do well enough.

I was actually just thanking Bobcat for the reverse jinx

He has much more data backing up my statement than you do yours
I mean - you said it yourself.  He was consistently over matched last year.  You saw it as a constant observer, I saw it as a less frequent observer, and the data showed it.  Now you're saying the data supports it when we clearly don't have sufficient data since last season?

He was consistently overmatched in the playoffs. It was claimed he struggled in the second half due to a shoulder injury he suffered after the home run derby. Try and keep up here.

Thanks for clarifying.  Hopefully Verlander and McCullers draws you guys in that series in 2 weeks.  Should make for some fun theater

Not saying it would be easy but also dont think you can say he almost certainly wont. Especially when the Yankees sign him when he opts out lol
was talking to a buddy about that today.  better to free at 30 and starting to break, than be free at 32 and likely broken.  he has 2/68 left?

I dont know if he starting to break. It could be just flukey. 30 isnt old. I think he opts out and gets a massive deal.

if he was starting to break down i think his numbers would actually be down and they are not.

I'm not much of a Ben Davis (the announcer) fan, but he told a story the other day during the Phillies -Giants game that I thought was interesting.

It was like the 7th inning and Odubel was up to bat. It was a somewhat pivotal point in the game as the Giants really couldn't afford to give up any more runs. The count was 1-1 and the pitcher snapped off a breaking pitch that appeared to dive right into the top-middle of the strike zone. The pitch was called a ball. and it was obvious the Giants weren't happy. Posey held it for several seconds and the pitcher angrily paced around mound. T-Mac says "boy, they really wanted that pitch" and Davis (who was the catcher for the Bochy-managed Padres back in the day) replies "See if Posey grabs a handful of dirt and tosses it". T-Mac is confused and Davis says "when I played for Boch, he would have me grab a handful of dirt and toss it if the ump made a really bad call. That was his signal that he could really start yelling at him from the dugout." I love hearing some of the behind-the-scenes stuff like this.

Sean Doolittle became the second visiting pitcher to use the bullpen car to ride to mound. He said he basically did it for shtick but then found he actually liked it and wants Nats to get one.

Having seen 90 percent of Judge's games, I'll say this for him, he learns and makes great adjustments.  Its one of the better parts of watching him in all phases.  That and the rockets.  Seems a good guy which isn't too bad either, this team is far more day to day likeable than anything they ran out there post 2001

Maximizing Adam Engel’s (163/244/213) ABs, by batting him leadoff, might not be the highlight of Rick Renteria’s managerial career.
