Jerry needs to bring back Ribbie and Roobarb. This ESPN Sunday Night baseball promo with the Cub Bear taking about Bryant makes me want to stab things.
Talk about a guy who flushed his own career down the toiletHarvey refuses a minor league assignment. He will be DFA'd
Pitching is hardTalk about a guy who flushed his own career down the toilet
While it appears that he’s not doing himself any favors, it’s not like he chose to have his elbow implode and Thoratic Outlet Syndrome.Talk about a guy who flushed his own career down the toilet
I agree with that but it doesn't look like he has any interest in helping himself or working hard either. That's completely on him. While it appears that he’s not doing himself any favors, it’s not like he chose to have his elbow implode and Thoratic Outlet Syndrome.
It's a little less than forty-one years since the Mets traded Tom Seaver to the Reds for the immortal Pat Zachary/Doug Flynn/Steve Henderson trifecta. That trade makes a lot of sense for both sides
He's awful. Just lazySanchez is one of the worst defensive catchers I've ever seen
He's from Canada. Anything smaller than a grizzly bear and he doesn't even flinch. You just knew the guy was gonna be good after how he calmly handled that eagle
Never in the history of baseball has a pitcher allowed 7 runs and 4 homers without recording an out.Dylan Bundy![]()
I always liked Paxton and was in on him 3-4 years ago, but he could never stay helfy.Never in the history of baseball has a pitcher allowed 7 runs and 4 homers without recording an out.
On the flip side, James Paxton had 34 swinging strikes, Pedro like.
Strange for as dominant as he was, he didn't have more K's last night. On the flip side, James Paxton had 34 swinging strikes, Pedro like.
Been hearing he was finally putting it all together this year.Dylan Bundy![]()
Judge is actually much better than last year. Thanks for this!Judge is the biggest regression candidate in MLB. No Bird. Hicks hitting 5th. Good luck Yankees.
A little early for this. He's doing better against stronger pitching, but his dominance is still reserved for the mediocrity. He's 256/341 in 44 PA with 2 HR, 13 K, and 5 BB vs. Aaron Sanchez, Lance McCullers, Jose Berrios, Dallas Keuchel, Justin Verlander, Chris Sale, Trevor Bauer, Drew Pomeranz, Chris Archer, Mike Clevinger, Cody Allen, Roberto Osuna, Brad Peacock, Ken Giles, Craig Kimbrel, Mychal Givens, Brad Brach, David Price, and Blake Snell.Judge is actually much better than last year. Thanks for this!
He has become a more complete hitter. Every at-bat is a battle for the pitcher. It seems he goes 3-2 on every at-bat. Plus he's an excellent defender and has a cannon. A true 5 tool player. Only two guys I'd take over him (ignoring salaries) are Trout & Harper.
This is easily the stupidest example of cherry picking I've ever seen in any fantasy discussion, regardless of the sport.A little early for this. He's still not doing well against stronger pitching. He's just 222/250 with 1 HR, 9 K, and 1 BB vs. Aaron Sanchez, Lance McCullers, Jose Berrios, Dallas Keuchel, Justin Verlander, Chris Sale, Trevor Bauer, and Drew Pomeranz.
@Epic Problem some context to why I wrote the above. Of course it's cherry picking. But it has some merit. And it may not matter for magic baseball purposes. But could come October.Of course 35.6 HR/FB and a 357 BABIP on a 43% FB hitter will regress, but I think those figures being unusually high has some validity.
I think his problem begins and ends against quality pitching. 0-12 w/10 K's vs. Chris Sale, 0-3 w/2 K's vs. Kimbrel, 0-7 w/5 K's vs. Osuna, 1-9 w/5 K's vs Chris Archer, 1-6 w/5 K's vs. Brach, 0-5 w/4 K's vs. Snell, 1-8 w/4 K's vs. Bundy, 1-6 w/ 3 K's vs. Price, 1-7 w/4 K's vs. Givens, 0-7 w/4 K's vs. Verlander, etc. And given what he did in the Indians series the October angle is an eyebrow raising story from Judge. I mean, it was record setting, but in a 1-20 w/16 K's sorta way.
I mean, some of that is cherry picking and it's obviously very small sample size driven, but watching him bat...I wasn't surprised to see any of the above. He was consistently over matched against quality pitching and he frequently made loud contact against mediocre or worse. Young players develop, but is there any reason to believe any of that will change? and for magic baseball purposes is that really a bad thing?
I just didn't like how my teams looked if I had a 250 or worse bat that I picked inside the top 20 and I'll want to bench in quality pitching matchups. He can mash quad A arms, develop, or hit a sophomore slump on someone else's team.
Kimbrel's omission was an oversight. I didn't go beyond page 1 because I didn't scroll down far enough. This is easily the stupidest example of cherry picking I've ever seen in any fantasy discussion, regardless of the sport.
And we're classifying the 2018 version Sanchez and Drew Pomeranz as 'stronger pitching'
Why remove Porcello from the equation? 2016 Cy Young award winner who looks to have regained that Cy Young winning form in 2018.
Let's see..... maybe its because his slash is .600/.667/.800 vs him.
That Kimbrel guy... He's pretty strong too, right?
Get out of here with this crap.
A little early for this. He's doing better against stronger pitching, but his dominance is still reserved for the mediocrity. this is the dumbest argument Ive seen here in a long time.I think those two have been pretty friggin good. Staying healthy? Different topic. But, again, as I said in March - there's some cherry picking and small sample sizes here, confirmation bias too. I just thought what I found when I went digging into Judge back in March was interesting. I thought he looked over matched vs. quality pitching and found lots of data points to support that. I've noticed similar this year, but apparently I've been watching the wrong (right?) games. I guess I finally found a down side to skipping 6 hour marathon games between the Yanks and the Sawx.Porcello, you're meh, but Drew Pomeranz and Aaron Sanchez..... COME ON DOWN!!!!
YOU'RE THE NEXT CONTESTANTS ON 'FIT MY NEED'
I havent seen him overmatched in a single at bat all year. Meanwhile last year he was overmatched quite a bitI think those two have been pretty friggin good. Staying healthy? Different topic. It isn't even an argument - it's just an observation. Like I said in March, it may not matter in our game. October? That could be a different story.this is the dumbest argument Ive seen here in a long time.
You obviously watch your guys a hell of a lot more than I do. It just looked like same ole same ole when I tuned into McCullers, Clevinger, Bauer, Sanchez and Verlander.I havent seen him overmatched in a single at bat all year. Meanwhile last year he was overmatched quite a bit
I seem to recall Judge rather consistently going to full counts in the playoffs last year. I could be wrong though and he just K'd alot.Judge is actually much better than last year. Thanks for this!

In the playoffs last year he struck on 3 pitches quite a bit. He was just lostI seem to recall Judge rather consistently going to full counts in the playoffs last year. I could be wrong though and he just K'd alot.
So all of a sudden Clevinger fits your criteria? You obviously watch your guys a hell of a lot more than I do. It just looked like same ole same ole when I tuned into McCullers, Clevinger, Bauer, Sanchez and Verlander.
So did World Baseball Classic Champion Mychael Givens and All-Star Brad Brach. Maybe you missed that.So all of a sudden Clevinger fits your criteria?
Hmm interesting Power vs Finesse splitsA little early for this. He's doing better against stronger pitching, but his dominance is still reserved for the mediocrity. He's 256/341 in 44 PA with 2 HR, 13 K, and 5 BB vs. Aaron Sanchez, Lance McCullers, Jose Berrios, Dallas Keuchel, Justin Verlander, Chris Sale, Trevor Bauer, Drew Pomeranz, Chris Archer, Mike Clevinger, Cody Allen, Roberto Osuna, Brad Peacock, Ken Giles, Craig Kimbrel, Mychal Givens, Brad Brach, David Price, and Blake Snell.
at this ####### clown adding like 32 pitchers to his argument after he gets called out on it. He was 1 for 3 with a 3R HR vs Clevinger last year or do you only include Clevineger's 2018 stats? Trying to figure out which stats you throw out.Not going down a Brach or Givens hole. Felt obligated to include them since he he had enough plate appearances against them in 17. If you want to omit them then have at it.
I'll fight to the death on Snell and Clevinger though.
