Reds' 4th inning @Brewers last night was a thing of, well, a thing of something.  After a double and single to put runners on 2nd/3rd, they scored 4 runs without getting the ball out of the infield:

- Fielder's Choice grounder to 3rd, throwing error at home (run scores)

- Infield hit (P deflects ball away from 1B) (loads bases)

- Infield hit (Ball hits 2B ump) (run scores)

- Infield hit (dribbler between P and 3B) (run scores)

- Passed ball (run scores)

This is like the opposite of a few weeks ago when the yankees had a runner on 3rd with less than 2 out and he DIDN'T score on a base hit.

Also oddly impressive. (I was going to guess it was Bartolo Colon in an interleague game, but he's with the Rangers now)

It's based on birthdate, not age - the last MLB player born before you were.  So Oliver was born 10/05/1970, and Wrigley presumably was born shortly after that.

Bartolo is older than Oliver was when he retired, but he's younger than Wrigley.

 
The Mets are an absolute joke of a franchise. They are not calling up their top prospect Peter Alonso, who had a great season, because "there is no room for him at the major league level as they want to get more at-bats for Dominic Smith, Jay Bruce, and Wilmer Flores." They see no point in calling him up to just sit on the bench. They actually said this with a straight face. Of course, they failed to mention the AAA season ends on Monday anyway so he will be just sitting around regardless. Alonso's agents released a statement basically ripping the Mets and Alonso backed his agent's statement. Great job Mets organization!

The Super Two cutoff date is usually sometime in June.  If Alonso spends September with the Mets, they'll have to push that out further.

It's possible that the next CBA will change all this but they have to assume status quo for now.

It doesn't matter though if you are sure the player is going to be a starter at the break of camp next year.  Mets are probably hesitant to add him due to the 40 man roster consideration, but it's not always that smart to have a player linger in the minors when he obviously should be promoted.  But if he gets 30 days this year and 183 next year, that's still 183 days in the end. 

Meanwhile in Chicago...

According to Jon Heyman of Fancred Sports, the agents for White Sox top prospect Eloy Jimenez are considering filing a grievance over his lack of a promotion to the majors.

Eloy is silly good.  Again, it makes some sense to bring him up to see major league pitching if you are sure he should be your guy next year.  Alonso is more obvious because he's 24 in December, Eloy I can understand a bit more.  Eloy is 22 in November and you can wait to Super II next year and promote him in June.  That said I think this is all bad juju for these teams.  I'd promote Alonso if I ran the Mets for sure.

He's light years better than shane Robinson or Neil Walker because that's who's been playing RF the last month. And when judge comes back he's much better than gardner who looks done.

But is it worth getting someone that is having pretty much career lows at every category and playing him?

 
Over 2 games the Brewers scored 9 straight runs without an RBI hit until Yelich's 2 run double. 2 to end Monday and 7 to start Tuesday.

 
It was so quiet at the Phillies-Marlins game last night that the announcers were distracted by the sound of the pine-tar sticking to Carlos Santana's batting gloves whenever he re-adjusted his hands on the bat. Kinda crazy.
