2018 Redraft: What does the first round look like? (1 Viewer)

Way to post off-topic then. Because as you quoted, I asked for what people thought the ADP would be.

all that selective bolding and you somehow forgot to bold “ADP”.

I specifically said “here’s my best guess -  note, this isn’t my ranking. Just a prediction for 1st round / ADP” - you quoted that.

ADP = average draft position.
Respect anyone who stays active in their threads like you have in this one. And I understand the guidelines set forth. But bottom line, there are 12-16 guys in the running for the ‘sperts top 12 so the conversation really doesn’t have far to go. For that reason, I like to hear some shots that are outside the echo chamber.

Not being snarky, but experts and ‘sperts have the same number of characters so you’re not saving any effort with ‘sperts. ?

yeah, but as a fan of John Glasser loves gear, I took to calling them ‘sperts.

and sure - there’s bound to be churn between lists. I’ve not exactly strictly policed the topic.

But josh Gordon will not be a top 16 player on consensus lists.

Unless he gets a different QB to at least instill optimism, he won’t be a top 36 overall pick.

Sure, maybe he shows well in the preseason and climbs.

The last rime that happened he climbed to the 6th round, where my leaguemates laughed at me for reaching for him, only to see him get suspended indefinitely.

And FWIW he looked better that preseason than he did in any of the games he played this year.

So yeah. No way Gordon is a consensus 1st round ADP outside of 37 Team leagues. And then, maybe. ;)

You asked for my list and why I put who where, you got my list and why I put who where.  If you wanted me to list what I thought other people would do you should have asked for that so I could properly ignore the thread.  Like I'm going to do now.

I can't believe Ingram gets no love
Thoughts on going Kamara/Ingram at the 12/13?  I wonder if anyone will do that.  Kind of gives you a high floor at the rb position, as well as a high ceiling as either could go off any given week.  Would be ballsy but not as crazy as some might think.

In terms of actual value, that would be a reasonable proposition.

As someone who would prefer some diversity in my portfolio, I would likely pass on this.

My concern with Cook is that this is finally the year that McKinnon stepped up his game. And Murray even showed well at times.

surely they’ll eat into Cook’s production?

that worries me a little. In the end I think talent will won out, and Cook is undoubtedly talented.  But with such a capable backfield, why would the Vikings rush Cook back? And will he resume feature back duties? Or will McKinnon & Murray form a 3-headed monster?

I have concerns about 2018 with Cook.
My hope is that Cook drops to the 2nd possible 3rd round due to the injury, Minnesota can actually save like 5.1M by cutting Murray and then you have Cook as lead with McKinnon as the CoP/backup if Cook truely isn't ready. That is probable best case scenario.

Agreed. I’m thinking Cook goes in about the same spot next year due to the injury discount.

if they cut Murray it’s a bargain. If not, it gets a little dicey. I’m thinking they cut him because while he was decent at times, he’s a plodder, who gets only what the OL gives him. He can’t break runs to the outside, and he doesn’t have particularly good receiving skills.

For the money they can save it would be strange to see them retain him. Now that they’ve gotten a look at him post-injury, I’m not sure why they’d want to pay him unless Cook isn’t 100% recovered. And even then Mckinnon showed that he could get the job done.

That’s why I added the caveat about the current cast and crew. If Arians leaves, all bets are off. If he stays, he will ride DJ like no one’s business.

I agree the teams are going in different directions, but DJ will still be a super work horse back.
Now that Palmer and Arians have moved on, where does DJ go?

I'd put him below:

Gurley

Zeke

Bell

A. Brown

for sure....

...and somewhere between

Kamara

Hunt

Hopkins

So- still have DJ top 10 but not top 5. Thoughts?

No way I would do that.  I think it's a given that one of Kamara/Ingram will be a bust in 2018.  And it's possible that both could bust.  Everything went right for Kamara and Ingram to have big years.  I am certainly not  betting on that.

Pick a line in the sand, and take one of them plus another RB/WR at the turn (if Kamara is even there at 12.....I suspect Kamara will go between picks 7-10)

Now we have to wait to see what happens with the coach. I think I agree with your initial top four (Gurley, Zeke, Bell, Brown), but I'm pretty certain I wouldn't take the others over him. So I'd have him top 5 still, and depending on coach, QB, camp, and preseason, I still may take him #1, but I'm sure that's my homerism speaking.

DJ in the mid first is the fantasy value of the year, holy crap

If you add Palmer/Stanton, Arians, and Fitz together, what exactly does this do for DJs value?

Outside of Fitz being bombarded with targets, and catching most of them, their WR group is hot hot stinky trash.

I feel like his touches and workload are going to be stable. So, if he was good before, and his opp's are stable, I feel like he will be good still. Do not let this guy slip to the 5,6,7. That is actual madness imo

One issue may be the new coach. Arians was on record saying they wanted DJ to get 1000/1000 last year, and he said this year, before DJ got hurt, that he was going to try to get him 30 touches per game. Of course, that probably wouldn't have happened, but the point is that DJ pretty much never came out of the game, and he got every goal line touch. Now I think a coach would be insane to not use him in the same way, but we just don't know right now.

I sorta think they would be silly not to, right?

by far best weapon on the team, makes plays on his own. Could potentially make a young or rookie QB better and take pressure off of him. Seems like no real downside if they are interested in trying to win games. That may not be priority 1 in the near future tho, so who knows.
