2019-2020 NHL Season Thread (1 Viewer)

@DarrenDreger: Sources say contract talks between the St Louis Blues and Blues captain, Alex Pietrangelo have broken off.  The team has advised Pietrangelo to pursue unrestricted free agency.

Supposedly this deal is agreed to but not finalized

@KevinWeekes: ** Breaking News**

As per what I’m told - the @penguins are trading F  Patric Hornqvist  to @FlaPanthers in exchange for D Mike Matheson. @NHL @NHLNetwork .
🏒🥅📺🎥🎙📡🌍.

Latest rumor is Hornquist trade is dead either because of his NTC or Panthers can't get insurance for his concussions.

Either way, you would think that hurdle would have been cleared earlier.

I'm wondering if I'm mis-remembering, I know covid changed things but in recent years I feel like the playoffs are more spread out.

So let's say 20 years ago, didn't the finals and playoffs have a bunch of back to back nights?

Even with the 2-2-1-1-1 schedule, I felt like it was back to back travel back to back travel game travel game travel game...

Just randomly chose the 2000 finals. They were all every other night with one extra day thrown in between games 4 & 5.

@wyshynski: (super quiet whisper, like even quieter than the last time)

Khudobin with an .864 save percentage since the start of Game 2.

It looked like it should've been a penalty on Benn but the ref called the wrong one.
Right. He didn’t trip him, but Benn held Johnson’s stick with his left hand and yoked him backwards. Dallas got two weak calls back to back and didn’t capitalize. The Lightning did.

@reporterchris: The #NYR send Marc Staal and a 2021 second-round draft pick to Detroit for future considerations. The deal shaves $5.7M in cap space for New York.

Awesome work by Yzerman imo.  1 year contract so not taking on an albatross, he's actually better than half our crappy defensemen, and we get a 2nd round pick.

Really weak call against Cernak too. Then the outrage for the tripping of Johnson in OT? Weird.
I didn't get that, either. The embellishment call against TB was terrible, and I figured that was the refs way of saying "no penalties around OT tonight," and then they proceeded to call at least two. I thought Benn held or interfered with Johnson. I think the announcer was just apoplectic over something which he had no idea what he was talking about, really. Okay, the ref thought he leg whipped him, but still, a body doesn't just magically go upwards and fall backward when it was previously moving forward.

Huh.

I have a sneaking suspicion Gorton is up to something. Dont think he is clearing space to resign Strome and Dangelo.
