2019-2020 NHL Season Thread (2 Viewers)

I'm not that familiar with kuemper.  Has he always been this good?
not the quickest but is a big, positional goalie.  good prospect with solid fundamentals, always had a lot of potential.  showed flashes early when the Wild were unstable in net with the wheels coming off Backstrom and the Bryz being Bryz.  they gradually gave him the net and he struggled mightily when he was the guy, eventually leading to the trade for Dubnyk who went on a tear and never looked back.  they rushed him out of necessity which backfired but they needed a solution.  he was really good in a backup role but once he lost confidence he never could get his game back.  his agent played hardball even before he lost the starting gig so it wasn’t surprising when they let him walk as a free agent.  LA signed him for peanuts and he flourished again as a backup.  Arizona then acquired him for very little since Raanta was and is still perpetually hurt and he ran with the job and now Raanta is an afterthought.

ironically, a pretty similar player and career path to this point as Dubnyk though he always had one foot in the league where Dubnyk was basically done until Burke fixed him.

Damn allergies

@NHLFlyers: No words are necessary.

#AnytimeAnywhere | @oskarlindblom https://twitter.com/NHLFlyers/status/1295011358170382337/video/1

@charlieo_conn: AV: The group was obviously ecstatic to have (Oskar) back. Great young man, beautiful smile, good to have him around. The coaches were almost in tears.

@Kevin_Durso: AV on Lindblom: “The kid went home to see his family once he was cleared, came to the bubble and stayed in his room for eight days. Kid wants to play. We’ve got to do our part and keep playing.” #FlyersTalk

:blameBishop:

@seanshapiro: Ben Bishop is unfit to play. Jake Oettinger is the backup.

@seanshapiro: knowing nothing more about Bishop's injury, because we can't, the fact he is unfit to play after not playing Friday and the team having an off day Saturday is not a good sign.

@SaraCivian: Rod Brind’Amour says he “highly doubts” Svechnikov will be back for the playoffs but he doesn’t have an official update yet. Was getting MRI.

Weird fact:

The Bruins are the most recent Stanley Cup winning franchise (2011) to have won a game in the 1st round of the 2020 playoffs.

Blues (2019 winner) 0-2
Caps (2018 winner) 0-3
Penguins (2017 and 2016 winner) lost in the qualifying round
Hawks (2015 and 2013 winner) 0-3
Kings (2014 and 2012 winner) didn't qualify for the qualifying round or round robin

So...Lehner in for VGK ... and Hawks with a 1-0 lead.

Not sure I've seen a goalie rotation like this for team with possibility to sweep.

Between getting their collective asses kicked in Game 2 and the Oskar news, if the Flyers don't come out a million miles an hour, this could be Montreal in 5.

this Montreal team is just all about hustle so at least Flyers aren't flat. 1st line scoring is such a sense of relief, and the Flyers looks to be getting to loose pucks. So far, so good  :scared:  (still shell shocked from Friday)

Flyers looked better in the 2nd period i would say. 2nd line looks to be playing better this game which is fun. Wish G would show up a little bit more, he is mostly invisible and i don't know why.

Hope the Flyers can hold on here and end this series soon. Going through this dog fight to have to face the Islanders next will be not fun at all.

What a finish!

Holy schneiky. Maybe should have cut down even that angle by coming out a bit, but Perron with the big-time shot.

And while I'm typing that, the 'Nucks tie it up? Another big-time finish on the short side on Allen.

Can't win with Allen, guys.

Same ole Ben.

surprised Cooper didn't challenge, that would have been an interesting one.  in my opinion it was a goal since the rebound goes off Atkinson and he never touches the blue paint.  I could see it being ruled either way though so it was probably worth a challenge.

They had one wiped off earlier, doubt they would have done 2 and then you would have a 4 on 3 PP

Two crappy goals let in by Halak. Gonna need to do better if the Bs gonna go anywhere

meanwhile Reimer having a game
