Campbell is interesting. He's an amazing coach, and any warm body should be able to recruit at FSU, but I guess that would be the only concern from their perspective.
I think he would be a home run.

I’m sure. Doubt schools want to take this kind of money out of whatever general fund they have.
I was under the impression that coaches buyouts were paid out over the course of years. I guess with a Big Money Grip booster footing the bill that would be the exception.

I don’t think Penn State is on the same tier. FSU has won 3 titles and played for like 3-4 more since PSU has. But I doubt it’s him.
PSU also has won a conference title and been a couple of NY6 bowls since FSU has. But I agree I don’t see him leaving for that.

Lol Let’s not pick nits but FSU won a national title 6 years ago. It’s 33 I believe for PSU. That matters in recruiting, way more than a conference title does. No recruit in over a generation has been alive to see PSU even play for a title.

Plus you’ve got those sweet State Championship rings!!!

I’m still chuckling over some FSU booster being like sure I’ll pay 20 million to fire this guy. How do you ever even come to that decision. It’s football.
How does this even work. Is this deductible on your taxes.   I have so many questions.

Someone paid 20 million for a coach to go away, but no one thinks it will be different than it is currently when you can openly pay kids to come play?

I may run for govenor of LA on the platform that we will pass a tax to pay for LSU's football players.

Franklin? Why wouldn’t you love him?

But it's not the losses, it's how he manages to lose.  He's a great recruiter, but a terrible gameday coach.  Many of these games he had the superior team and many of these games they had a lead late.  It's odd and I don't know if I can explain it, but it's like he doesn't know how to handle success.  If he gets a lead over a superior opponent, he's suddenly out of his element.

In 2017, they had a 15 point lead on OSU with 7 minutes left in the third quarter and an 11 point lead with 5:30 left in the game.  They lost by 1 point.  In 2018, PSU had a 12 point lead with 8:00 to go.  They lost by 1 point.

He makes head-scratching playcalls, weird personnel decisions, has terrible clock management, etc. when he's under pressure.

He just....I don't know...Doesn't seem like he's quite ready for major major college football. Obviously, I hope I'm wrong and this year is different,  but I just can't get 100% excited about the guy.  He just always finds a way to let you down.

Taggart getting paid 17.7 million makes him the 2nd highest paid coach for the next two years!  Taggart is only behind Dabo at 9.2 million.  He is not even coaching!  WTF!  FSU.

Jerry Jones Grandson to get the start for Arkansas Saturday.   John Stephen Jones.

Wonder if Dallas will draft him in a few years?

Gameday was pretty damn cool.  Thought Beale would be packed the whole day, but when it ended at 11am CT, most of the folks scattered.
I don’t doubt that at all. Everyone went to the stadium to tailgate for the game.  Imagine the late night crowd on Beale was thinner than usual too, as a result.

Don't have much of a comparison.  Only to Friday night.  Seemed about the same to me.

Not sure how the Big10 does their scheduling but I was surprised that in the Franklin era they have played both Mich schools 7 times and OSU only 5 times. I figured they would play everyone in their division every season??

Holy cow.  Must have typed too fast and hit the wrong numbers.  Thanks for pointing that out.

1-4 vs OSU

2-4 vs UM

2-4 vs MSU

Penn State has not played OSU this year, hence the one game discrepancy.

Why did Stoops leave OU? Twitter is white hot with the possibility of him coming to FSU.
He retired kind of suddenly if I remember correctly, perhaps near the beginning of the season. Reason given was “more time with family” i think. I also remember hearing that there had to be more to the story but I never heard any of those possibilities.

I would think he would have quite a bit left in the tank.

Family member who is a booster said offer was given tonight.

6-7 million per year, 4-5 years, Briles head coach in waiting. Unlimited budget for assistants.

If Bob  Stoops ends up coaching FSU it will be odd that the last Championship OU has was against FSU coached by Bob Stoops.

...and less than 48 hours into the search, we have our first huge announcement from a complete unknown sportswriter (on a National stage anyway) that FSU is in agreement with Bobby Stoops!

https://www.wtxl.com/news/local-news/sources-fsu-nearing-deal-with-bob-stoops-to-become-next-head-football-coach?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

What are we talking about here as far as actual sources?  Billy Bob from Busch Gardens?  An Uber driver?
Lol I think she’s using a Tampa radio host who went to FSU and admittedly seems to be dialed in but far from what I would say is any confirmation. More like above-average internet speculation.

Was listening to the Bruce Feldman/Stewart Mandel podcast this morning and Bruce mentioned Mike Leach as a possibility. That would be fun.

Worst time of the year is upon us.  We will now be consumed by arguments for why teams aren't where people think they should be in the playoff rankings starting today :wall:

That said, Heather Dinich did an interview of several of the college football coaches and I was surprised at how many DON'T want the playoff to expand.  Then, of course, Harbaugh had to Harbaugh and give his "If I were in charge, this is what I'd do" approach to a playoff which end up being 15 games for the entire year if you reach the final.
