2020-21 NBA *Playoffs* Thread: Bucks are the champs and you can take that to the bank bromigos (3 Viewers)

Nice to see Melton having a good game after struggling recently. He was pretty awesome earlier in the season. Grizzlies probably won’t win the series but they have a lot of fun young pieces.

Well I finally picked 2 double digit wins and we finally got 2 close-ish games.  I'm pretty sure I jinx everything I pick.  But here we go:

Nets by 21
Blazers by 7
Suns by 3

Rotoworld, WTF:

Joel Embiid will have an MRI on his right knee injury suffered in Monday night's loss to the Wizards.  This means he is very questionable for Wednesday's Game 5 in Philly and it's possible the Wizards could get a win on the road and pull to within a 3-2 disadvantage if Embiid is out. And if the results of the MRI come back with news of a serious injury, the Sixers could be in some real trouble. Embiid was unable to play through the injury on Monday as Russell Westbrook and Bradley Beal teamed up for their first playoff win together and they could be looking for more if Embiid's injury turns out to be serious. The winner of this series will go on to face Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks in Round 2 so all eyes will be on Embiid's MRI results on Tuesday. Stay tuned. If Embiid is going to miss time Dwight Howard could become a major factor for the Sixers.

lol, will probably take 12 hours to fix that. i swear the national media doesn't watch half the games out there. Was happy with Doc's post conference calling out the reporters there too

ETA: and if that Embiid injury is bad, man i have money going up in smoke. I put them 50-50 to win the next round without Embiid, and if they make it against the Nets or Bucks,  :scared:

dont know what to think about this team. i couldnt let my team lose a close game to a higher seed without trying all my options at home. cant help but feel that 2/3 of your minutes going to backcourt players, guys like Clarke & Tillman never seeing the floor so Tyuses & Graysons can goof the court, is playing into Jazz hands

I have to admit I did not know there were two Bogdanovic’s in the league. I thought they were the same guy and he just kept getting traded.
I was surprised to learn earlier this season that there are two Bogdanovic's and two Hernangomez's.  Even more surprised to learn a few weeks ago that Bojan and Bogdan are not related to each other.

Embiid might be softer than even AD.  guy just can't stay healthy unless he takes every 3rd game off.
Without getting too much into it, I never really understood the take of players being "soft" in terms of injury. This isn't just Embiid, but all players in numerous sports.

It's not like it's their fault they get hurt so much, or that they can necessarily do anything to prevent it (some probably can, ya), but it's always used as an insult against the player when they get hurt.

I still don't know how many Antetokounmpo's there are in the NBA.

he is my new kobe i just cant stand that nut kicker take that to the bank brohans
He's actually a tripper, brohan.  The primary confirmed nut kicker in the league is Draymoan Green.

At least they aren't biting people like Luis Suarez.  That's just weird.

I think soft might be the wrong word.

Some athletes are built like Lebron and Derrick Henry and can just take the punishment. Some guys are like Barry Sanders and RIP Hamilton and they just seem to avoid the big hits and fall more gracefully. Then there are guys like D Wade, Davis and Embiid. They always get hurt and they can't avoid contact and aren't built to handle it.

yeah, i agree.

there's bad luck, there's simple genetics and body type, there are some guys who tough it out and some who don't for whatever reasons.

i'm a bigger NFL fan than NBA and i always cringe when seeing a guy get hurt, then the next week he's back out there & fans are ranting that he sucks because he doesn't go for 120 and 2td's on a sprained knee, broken ribs and a concussion.

or some calamitous injury happens that would waylay average person for months and 2 weeks later the coaches list the guy as "probable" and send him out there 3 months too soon only to watch the guy struggle, limp around, tag in and out and post-game sports media is alive with "he quit! he sucks! he's washed! #### him!".

it's hard to say how hurt a guy actually is because everyone's pain tolerance is different. i always err on the side of wishing dudes weren't rushing back/weren't being rushed back.

that said, there are definitely guys who are more dramatic/sensitive/prone to not playing through things for whatever their reasons.. they definitely know their own bodies better than me, the average fan.

and for a guy who's 7'2", 300 lbs, it's almost a miracle that he's not hurt more often simply because of the pounding his knees, feet and back must take every day.

Results of MRI were inconclusive.  Good chance it's that it's too swollen for the MRI to show what's going on and that he'll get another one tomorrow.

Either way, he's listed as Doubtful for tomorrow so I don't think he's going to play.  Ben and Harris need to play aggressive and not let this go back to Washington.

it has been a S**t show on local media here today. we think this thread sours on Ben, holy moly do these radio stations love to crap on Ben.

but yeah, if they don't win Wednesday could be ugly. i am guessing Embiid would play if series was 3-3 or something, but there really isn't a need to force him back too early. Sixers without Embiid should still be able to beat the Wiz in Philly, and my guess is that is the message being driven now. Pretty much everybody but Maxxey and Korkmaz had a bad game, so i'll be puting my money on the 6'ers tomorrow

Interesting decision for Miami coming up this summer:

"Per Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald, Butler "will likely seek a maximum four-year extension worth $181 million" from the Miami Heat. "

The 31-year-old is eligible to sign an extension this summer. ESPN's Bobby Marks noted a max deal for Butler would give him salaries of at least $40 million every season, including $50.3 million in 2025-26 when he would be 36 years old.

have to think the way this story came out Butler is pushing for this, and we all know Jimmy knows how to throw a tantrum if he doesn't get his way. Signing Butler to that deal could age horribly, so you have to think Miai goes to pick up a big chip this year or maybe let Butler play his last year and test that Heat culture

We’ll see, but I’m not sure this team that’s getting carved up by Boston’s JV squad will be able to beat Milwaukee.

They aren't motivated right now, but they can turn it on. That doesn't mean they can't lose to the Bucks, but they remind me of the 2008 Celtics that didn't look interested at all in the first 2 rounds that both went 7 games. Then they took care of business in the conference finals and finals.

the game reminds me of a talented H.S. player p[laying his 10 year-old brother. Playing with his food........

That was beyond frustrating to watch.  At least it's over now.  Now I can just enjoy the rest of the playoffs.

post mortem: somewhere along the way, Jayson Tatum & Jaylen Brown stopped talking to each other during play, which shut down the Celtics shutting down of passing lanes, the key to their success under Stevens for close to a decade. Maaaacus Smaaaat staaaated baaaaking @ both of em, which got a bigass shaddup from each, Kemba said, i'm the leader here, they said hush old man and maybe make a shot once. Timelord did everything beautifully but nothing right, then Traitor Danny made up for his part by trading his $6trillion trade exception for the ugliest dood this side of Alex Caruso. they gotta admit its JayTay's team, trade Brad Stevens for Myles Turner and some throwin' corn, JayBro for JayTay's St Lous bro Beal and make Kemba hop on one foot til the knee gives out for good. see ya -

🔥 Campaign 🔥

Schroder turned down $20+mil/yr annual extension. Campaign -- on fringe of being out of league year or two ago -- looks like the $20+mil/yr player in comparison.
