Time to trade Lillard. His value will never be higher and if you can't win a series this year in a wide open west while fully healthy against a team missing like 2 of their top 4ish players it is time to blow it up.
They could probably get 4 to 6 first round picks from the Pelicans considering what OKC got for George last year and what Pelicans got for Jrue this year. Hell, maybe OKC would want to consolidate a bunch picks.

PG is a horrible comp. LAC overpaid because they were essentially trading for PG and Kawhi.
Jrue? Ok, but no rebuilding team is going to send a load of picks for 31 year old PG who they will have to pay $195M over the next 4 years. So, who are the contenders with assets and who can match that salary? And don't have a super max guy already rostered?

i have enjoyed watching the waste of cap space and assets over the last 3-4 years, and will definitely miss Danny. Pretty funny though that he had a true treasure chest of assets and cap space with huge potential young assets, and literally 3-4 years later Ainge is leaving the C's with 2, probably 3 tradeable assets and little to no cap space outside of over-rated TPE's.
With the team not listening much to Brad this year, i am intrigued how this may turn out. As a Sixers fan, Danny will be missed
ETA: funny rumor already that Ainge and Utah may be where he lands. Not only do the free agents flee Boston, front office is now too. Important piece if this is the case is who does Danny take with him. they have some talented young guys under Dany right now

Jokic has been awesome, but everybody expected that. The Nuggets gotta be playing the worst backcourt in the NBA right now. Certainly the worst in the playoffs. And they are playing really well - Morris was probabaly the third best player on the court yesterday and Rivers has outplayed McCollum all series.

Nurkic seems like a guy to hold onto as well. He's gotten into a lot of foul trouble but he's been fantastic. It seems he's improved his athleticism since his broken leg and dropped a bit of weight.

No, that was my take 2 weeks ago. Last night made it easier to say. If they lose this series it will be even easier to say, but hey keep him and continue to be a mediocre playoff team and waste his career while winning nothing and then get ready to rebuild with no assets.
Dame has what 3 to 4 years left of being elite? Then when he goes and they have no assets they will take 3 to 5 years to rebuild if they hit on draft picks? Or blow it up now and probably have 10ish extra first round picks ( by trading CJ, Nurkic etc.) and in 3ish years be roght2 back where they are, but younger and on the way.
What do I know though sell the rest of the Blazers low and buy high on other players and make it a 10 year rebuild.

CJ's big money kicks in next season. He's the obvious guy to deal. JMO They should have dealt him even when they had Trent Jr. (would have gotten more in return then as well)
You can't lose to Austin Rivers/Kamakaze/Monte Morris backcourt and then in the same breath claim to have "one of the league's backcourts" if you're the Blazers.
They aren't getting a large return for Nurkic. He's similar to Jonas with Grizzlies. You'll get more production out of him than you'll get in a trade return.

The Pelicans aren't rebuilding they are an elite player away from being the Suns. A team that is up and coming.
The Thunder aren't as bad as they looked this year. They have a few nice pieces and could rise really fast with a guy like Lillard and a draft pick. They pretty mich tanked the second half by sitting SGA before they did that they were competitive and even if they traded away 6 picks for Lillard they still have like 9 more to trade for someone else or hit on a draft pick or 2.

Philly was a finalist in the Harden sweepstakes -- if Portland really wanted to move Dame, maybe they could send him there and rebuild around B** S******.
Much more likely that they deal McCollum though IMO.

I agree it is more likely they deal McCollum, but this isn't 27 year old Lillard. They should be looking to get an Anthony Davis type haul.

BOS swept PHI last year in the playoffs. BOS beat them 4-1 in the playoffs in 2018. And the years previous, well, PHI was terrible

i have a long history with Traitor Danny. my first taste of bigtime college basketball was us hippies VWbussing from our commune down to the Pit in Albq to watch Michael Cooper treat Ainge to 94 feet of Hell when he was a NCAA Golden Boy; i would roll in laughter to witness important Bird-era Celtics games where Dennis Johnson's hate of Danny the Menace grew to the point that he refused to pass him the ball directly (i swear Bird developed that touch pass from getting so sick of Ainge running around waving his hand in the air that he'd have to get himself open so he could relay a DJ pass to the dervish and, of course i thrilled his glory days of, first, getting the Big Three together and suffered 5 years consequences of his 2nd big day of getting the Big Three Draft Pix, culminating in the fatal betrayal of Isaiah Thomas. 'tis with a modicum of respect & nostalgia i say "good riddance".
Stevens GMing is a good idea. his players have stopped listening to him, but they still know he has their best interests at heart. i dont care for those 1st 2 rumored coaching candidates - i hope he can be more innovative than that. onward & upward - the Grinch is gone.

We can conveniently ignore Simmons being out of the team last year, and the '18 being the first year that the Sixers started getting their act together. Fine with that for now.
Boston had a lot of potential in '17-'18. Now you have front office guy and free agents leaving when possible. I am sad to see Danny go because as of '17-'18 the future was scary and bright for Celtics. as of '21, i would say that Boston at best is looking at 5th or 6th best in the East.
On a serious note, do you really see this Boston team competing with Philly, Milwaukee or Brooklyn in the next 2-3 years? Can add Charlotte and maybe Knicks, Hawks and some others too.

Tatum and Brown are still one of the best young duos in the league. Obviously Kemba is broken, but he only has 2 years left so no reason to think they can't attach assets and flip him next offseason if they need to.

I think Philly only has two firsts available to trade because of the protections on the outgoing pick to OKC. Would have to be 2021 and 2023. Nothiing available from 2024 on.

you don't think Tatum and Brown are looking to leave when their contracts are up? and you think that they can really compete with these other teams? It is possible, but if you don't think there are issues with the C's then it is strange that a Sixers' fan seems to have more objective thoughts then some of the fanbase (wikki definitely excluded because he does seem to have a good read on the franchise all the time).
The fact that Danny voluntarily is stepping away, and all of these free agents have fled over the last 3 years, i think there is some reason to be a little concerned. Maybe it was because of Danny and now things turn dramatically around.
Again in seriousness, funniest thing is how similar the Sixers and Celtics have been over the last 4 years or so. Difference a bit is that the Sixers had Doc and Morrey lined up to take the reigns from the utter mess that last year's Sixers were. Boston is still to be determined

Big thing with Philly trades to is making the money work with any trade. Not sure what Portland would want and need and how to make the money work.
Philly has been rumored with Lowery for the last 5-6 months, so i wouldn't be surprised if he is the one to end up on the Sixers instead of any of the other guards floated around. I don't know if the Heat are as attractive as the rumors had them at the time of the trade deadline.
