2020-21 NBA *Playoffs* Thread: Bucks are the champs and you can take that to the bank bromigos (3 Viewers)

 This literally made me laugh out loud.  What are we even doing in here?
Calling out trolls.  A few people in here claim to be neutral, but spend most of their time bashing Ben.  Anyone who defends him is instantly the problem, yet they can't help themselves from talking about him.

I’m watching the Knicks Hawks thinking the Hawks would lose a lot of what Capella gives them, in the next series having to match up against Embid. Sixers should still be favored but Embid missing makes it a lot more interesting.
Yep it would be a very close series without Embiid.

it will be a little tricky. Total guess, but i imagine they really try to let him rest for Games 1 and 2, and try to bring him back for game 3. I think they would be happy with a 1-1 split, though they can probably win both at home. Team has a killer home record, something like 135-38 since Embiid and Simmons have been playing together

Ben would destroy me in a free throw contest, and he would destroy you too. Yes, you, the person reading this.
hah you beat me to it. I would put a ton of money that he would destroy me in a FT contest.

was funny i listened to a few pods throughout the day, and 2 of them said the exact same idea that they could all beat Ben in a FT contest. Something tells me there is a pretty huge difference shooting a FT with 10,000 people screaming at you, knowing you need to start hitting some of these and shooting FTs at local rec center

Utah with 30

5:40 to go in the 1st
i don't know what it is, but i just have such a hard time viewing them as legit challengers for the championship. Could very well be wrong, i just can't see them just convincingly win against 7-8 of the top teams, 4 out of 7 games

yeah, i have that same kind of feeling that they aren't legitimately contenders. they are waxing Memphis right now, though.

Exactly.  I shot in the mid 80s when I played, but in a full NBA stadium with 7 foot dudes beside me, I think I would be lucky to hit 1 of 10.

i can't remember who said it, but i heard that Russ is a legit tough one when shooting FTs. i don't know if he mean mugs or what he does, but somebody was saying how he effected players more then most.

Would be a fun little article for the unimaginative sports writers out there to talk about. TimeLord has a funny one when he looks away and snaps his fingers when guys are shooting FTs.

was a funny little thing after the game between Ben and Embiid. said something all secretive and Embiid gave a pretty big smile. My guess was it was something with Ben saying he will get them past Washington, and Embiid should be paying in the Atlanta series.

No way Embiid sits out there and shoots before the game if he isn't playing next series. Just wonder how much it will limit him and if it can get to a point where he will miss time if he tweaks it a certain way when he plays.

Sixers' fans will be on pins and needles watching him play for the rest of this playoff run. Will be like watching the Eagles in the Super Bowl, was so nervous the whole game it was almost unenjoyable. Loved it completely, but wasn't relaxing or fun at the time

What’s not to like. 3 all-stars, 6th man of the year, lots of depth, Gobert an excellent defensive player. I think they win the west.

yeah, no doubt they win a bunch of awards, i'm just not sold. Granted i don't watch a ton of them with them in the West, but i just for whatever reason am not worried about that team at all.

Maybe it is because they are a bit of a 1-trick poney. Just fire up 40+ 3's and if they are hitting you win, if they are a bit cold you lose.

Ya, I don't think you could.

And before someone makes the straw man argument that I think Ben is a good free throw shooter or doesn't need to improve, I know Ben's FT shooting is an issue.
Fwiw, I played in college and have coached for 25 years but that's beside the point. Most awful shooters are better from the stripe than he is.

5/8 tonight  . Rather than saying he is bad, i would go with "inconsistent". To be honest, i think it is kind of obvious that it isn't that he can't shoot FTs or even that he can't shoot 3s or jumpers. It is some kind of mental block or something that he has been improving a bit each year, but we all agree he has a way to go.

i think i have said this like 20 times in this thread, but i would rather have Ben on a team then like 5 real good shooters. you need different pieces to make the team work. Ben's passing is under-rated and his court vision is really pretty high compared to mose PGs around the league

I played and coached at that level too, but probably not for near as long as you.  I'm not questioning your knowledge, nor did I say that Ben was good.  Only was disagreeing with the post that every single poster in here could hit 6 for 10 consistently.

5/8 isn't very good either

Not very good, nope.

I was curious about the correlation between height and FT percentage.  Found this chart.  Seems like 6'10" people should be shooting 70%.  Ben's 60% is definitely not good and is definitely not acceptable (I feel the need to keep making this clear), but if he even improves it 5%, he'll not be far off the average for his height.

He wasn't responding to you.
I was the only one who mentioned tall dudes standing beside you, so I believe he was insinuating that someone mentioned big dudes beside you as an excuse for Ben.  But I used it only as a reason why it would be hard for us.  So yes, textbook strawman

It might be for you, but I don't think most normal people would have an issue with it.  Has to be one of the most laughable arguments I've seen in this thread to be honest.
I believe the pressure of 5 famous NBA players staring at you while you shoot free throws would affect SOME of the posters on this board.  Guess we don't agree on that, that's cool.
