Non Kelce owners get in here.  This position is becoming a black hole.  Is this just the evolution of football?  Gone are the Tony Gonzales and Antonio Gates quality options who you can depend on for targets and redzone fades.

Other than Kelce who could be a gem to emerge for us in time during the playoffs?

I keep thinking Fant will breakout, but he doesn't, and he's hobbled. Lost season for a real talent.

If Hock can get healthy he was having a solid if unspectacular year. Currently 3rd best in PPR. Like him if can stay on the field.

Guess I'll go with Hayden Hurst, seems like he's starting to get targets, 4 double digit pt games in a row. Not going to dominate but seems like he could be solid for the stretch run. All this said with very little actual confidence.

Hunter Henry has been getting the routes and targets, and the Chargers are throwing a lot. That theoretically means he's got a lot of room to improve.

Austin Hooper wasn't getting many targets behind OBJ and Landry, and in his only game without OBJ it was a pass-game-muting windstorm. I think he could emerge as a good option ROS.

This probably a really desperate play, but with Cooper Kupp seeing only half the snaps last week, Higbee might start getting more routes and targets. Everyone likes to point to Everett being out as the reason Higbee went off last season, but I think it had a lot to do with Kupp being hobbled. Maybe if Kupp is struggling down the stretch, there's another run coming for Higbee. Or maybe Everett.

I’m to the point where I’m considering floating the idea to my commish to eliminating the position entirely next year and adding another flex. In standard leagues in particular, what is the point of even rostering this position anymore? You are just praying for a TD at this point. I’ve rostered Fant and Goedert for weeks, just hoping one of them would even show a slight pulse of being usable on a weekly basis. Instead I’m burning 2 roster spots on a player that gives me 3-4 points a week if I’m lucky.

Outside of Kelce and Kittle, would you ever start any of these scrubs in a flex spot unless you absolutely had to? No, so what’s the point of even having this a mandatory position anymore? Some leagues have done away with kickers, getting rid of TEs might be the next evolutionary step for some leagues.

Ha - this is the exact same position I've been in for several weeks.  Out of frustration, I dropped Fant this week (!) and picked up Jordan Reed.  So, rolling with Goedert this week and hoping either he or Reed can get something rolling.  Schultz would be the only other viable option.

Kelce was drafted middle 2nd this year, Kittle soon after.  It will be interesting next year to see if those move up.  I'm sure most leagues won't get rid of the TE.

P.S.  Apologies to all those playing against Fant over the rest of the season, as I fully expect him to score 4-5 TDs from here on out.

Maybe another option you could float to your Commish:

A few years ago I started a 16 team Dynasty league and instead of having a mandatory TE starter, we classed it as WR/TE, but with TE as 1.5 PPR, WR 1 PPR and RB .5 PPR.

We routinely have about 2-3 TE's in the top 20 for WR/TE scoring but it gives so much more flexibility. We start 1  RB, 3 WR/TE and have 2 Flex RB/WR/TE. It does make the top 5-6 TE valuable and the rest as just bye/injury depth for flex.

I would take a look at Jordan Reed if you can absorb the possibility he might go down in-game. I'd hate to rely on him in a tight playoff game given his concussion history, but if you're desperate...

If you are in TE purgatory (as most of us are), add Taysom Hill IMMEDIATELY if you play in an ESPN league.

His dual TE/QB eligibility will pays off big for at least one week if/until ESPN removes his TE eligibility.
